  1. I think Rahal recreates some of the most natural hairlines I've ever seen - almost mimicking the individual's God given natural hairline. If you look closely at Diep's work, at least to me, it seems to be a very similar hairline pattern for every patient, although the work and end result is usually good. Just my opinion and preference.
  2. Markee, I had 3 FUE procedures with Rahal - starting in 2014, 2k grafts to restore hairline, 2015 1.5k grafts to midscalp, and 2017 1k grafts toward rear and some crown but not full crown. I did post photos and my results on here, in fact, doing my research on here is how I went went Rahal, I did not want to do a strip procedure. I am from the NJ/NY area and originally consulted with Feller, but he offered no FUE option for my case. While I had to do it in stages with Rahal, I'm definitely happy with my decision, he's ethical and very conservative which is what I was looking for. I pay no attention to the marketing or consultants involved in the process, they are like independent contractors, and quite frankly, when you consult in person with Rahal the day before surgery, its never the same treatment plan as was prescribed by the consultant.
  3. it all depends on the extent of your hair loss, how many grafts you're getting and where ... If you're going FUE, your head will likely be shaved, for me it was the first time I've ever had my head completely shaved .. that's a dramatic change that will be obvious to everyone .. I also took about 2 weeks vacation and then did another 2 weeks work-from-home before actually going back to work - even after a month your donor area should be pretty well healed up if you follow post op instructions, daily cleaning, etc. But the recipient area may or still will be red - degree of redness depending on your skin tone. In addition, you may or may not experience shock loss of your native hair in the recipient or donor zone. Everyone is different. The best way to conceal a HT is NOT TO CONCEAL ANYTHING. Buzz your head, keep it short and trim and go out normally. People will stare up at your head for a second or two and wonder what you did, but then they go about their lives because only you are self conscious about your hair - no one else really cares! That's the honest brutal truth. So get used to wearing a hat the first few months when you can and then don't worry about it .. just sucking it up is the best course of action.
  4. has anyone had stand-alone PRP treatments to strengthen some weaker areas after a HT? I'm considering the treatment but wanted to ask the community what they're experience, expectations and ultimate results were. Any doctor recommendations that do PRP on a stand-alone basis, cost, etc would be greatly appreciated.
  5. i'm not a fan of SMP either, and was also recommended the service at an extra cost of course in my last procedure with Rahal ..
  6. you're not alone, I had a transplant in the early 90's when I was in my 20's which were plugs, that was the medical standard of hair restoration at that time, I also was uninformed and like you too young, as I got older and lost more native hair, the plugs became more obvious in my hairline and I started trying to conceal them with a comb over, etc. Its a horrible way to go on living with anxiety and fear. But trust me there is a solution for you as there was for me. Hair transplantation surgery techniques today can fix nearly anything - especially old plugs. Search and do your research on this site. Consult with not 1 but a few recommended doctors. They'll see you in person, over Skype, send in photos via email, etc. Get their recommendations and a plan of action together and move forward with correcting your issue. It will take an investment of time, money of course, and definitely some patience, but trust me when I tell you that it will be all worth it in the end when you look in the mirror and are happy with the reflection of yourself! Best of luck to you ..
  7. do you have any pics of what the hairline looks like with the transplanted hairs grown out? you can tell there was an attempt to lower the hairline maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch - graft spacing looks sparse compared to your naturally dense hair so I'm sure it probably looks pluggy. Possible solution could be to fill in density or a combination of redistribution and removal of grafts via FUE. I would see a top surgeon for a consultation, maybe the Hairline King Dr. Rahal - who recreates some of the most natural hairlines I've seen. I'm sure you're an easy case in the right hands. Laser removal is not always a permanent process. Good luck to you.
  8. definitely an over the top result .. very happy for you
  9. Go to H&W or Dr. Rahal in Canada, both do FUE at better prices than US doctors and the exchange rate definitely helps. Above all, you can't go wrong with either of them. Melvin's advice is particularly on point about your hairline. Your expectation about a straight or possibly lowering your hairline is probably unrealistic. You also have deep recession of your temples, which would make a very low hairline seem "top heavy" and un-natural if you also don't address restoration of your temple points - all of which take up precious more grafts which you need to add density up top. Stick with an age appropriate hairline that will suit you in 5-10-15 years and beyond. I believe any reputable physician will steer you in that direction as well. Best of luck to you.
  10. sorry to hear about your situation, I can relate because I had a HT when I was in my early 20's in the 1990's, no idea what I was getting into other than I thought it was a solution to my fear of starting to lose hair, but it was the exact opposite, I got plugs put into my hairline which was fine for a several years until I lost more and more hair. I suffered for decades styling my hair in the most creative ways to try and conceal my hair loss, using hair sprays, gels, comb-overs, etc. I finally had enough after doing quite a bit of research and coming across this site, doing my research on new techniques, best in class doctors, etc. I finally got a few consultations with some top notch docs including Feller, Hasson, Shapiro, Konior, but settled on doing FUE with Rahal. I can't tell you how freeing it was to finally correct a problem and fear I was living with for years ... it was the best thing I could have done for myself. I hope you find a solution to your issue to, maybe Dr. Umar?? If your donor is depleted, he does some great work with body, beard grafts. Post some pics of your condition so others can give you some advice as well. Best of luck to you.
  11. love how Rahal designs his hairlines and starts transplanting behind a natural forelock, makes the final result look amazing
  12. Is Rahal doing the scar revision? Great result by the way, looks amazingly natural and suits your face
  13. while it is only 6 months and there still is time for growth, it doesn't look encouraging ... did you have any prior work done in that frontal zone? who was the doctor? what was the extraction method? FUE or FUT? and how many grafts were utilized?
  14. you'll be smiling by the end of the year and just in time for the Holidays! congrats on your procedure - post op looks fantastic and you went with one of the best!
  15. very nice result buddy, congrats - if you do decide to go for a second pass to thicken up midscalp and crown, it will only improve an already great result, congrats
  16. My first in person HT consult was with Dr. Feller because of his reputation and the fact that he was in my backyard. I think he's a top notch surgeon and agree with most of his arguments in the FUT vs FUE debate. Unfortunately, I think he overly discounts patients' real choice and option in wanting to undergo a less invasive procedure with FUE. At least that was the case for me, I did not want a strip scar from ear to ear. I chose to undergo 3 smaller FUE procedures spread out over time that were less invasive and quicker healing time to get back to work and other activities. Hasson & Wong are now doing FUE if a patient so choses, I hope Feller & Bloxham embrace that option for patients as well.
  17. no need to be worried as long as you're dealing with a reputable HT surgeon. I've had 3 FUE procedures over the last 5 years. Like you, the first was to address the frontal zone, then my mid-scalp, then finally the crown area last year. The biggest cosmetic difference comes from restoring your hairline and frontal zone. As long as the design is appropriate for your age, suits your face, is not too low, etc. - this will frame your face and immediately give you an improved appearance. Of course you will not have the same density in the mid-scalp, but it will not look odd or strange with the correct hairstyle. Best of luck to you.
  18. looks absolutely stunning for 4 months, you're going to be a very happy camper in a few more months, hairline design from your post-op pics was perfect.... congrats and continued success growing!
  19. Night and day, congrats and continue to grow!
