#BeforeAndAfterMondays Curly Hair and FUE Unite! FUE 2334 grafts: Carlos K. Wesley, MD (NYC)" This 27-year-old man underwent a follicular unit extraction (FUE) session with Dr. Carlos K. Wesley in which a total of 2334 grafts were placed His hair follicles were incubated in autologous (his own) platelet rich plasma (PRP) throughout the duration of the procedure. This, combined with an ATP-containing storage solution has been shown to enhance survival of transplanted hairs. Rather than a larger FUE punch used by a robotic approach, Dr. Wesley used a smaller caliber hand-held motorized punch to performed the donor harvest. This approach better enabled the capture of donor hair roots that are slightly curved beneath the skin surface. Upon completion of the harvest, the patient’s donor area was treated with PRP and ACell in order to not only minimize scar tissue formation, but also encourage partial regeneration of donor hair follicles. The patient returned one year after his procedure and images of the patient can be seen below. :

#Before&AfterMondays This 45-year-old man underwent 2 separate follicular unit extraction (FUE) sessions with Dr. Carlos K. Wesley in which a total of 4583 grafts were placed. The first session focused on the front of his scalp and the second on his mid scalp. His hair follicles were incubated in autologous (his own) platelet rich plasma (PRP) throughout the duration of the procedure. This, combined with an ATP-containing storage solution has been shown to enhance survival of transplanted hairs. Rather than a larger FUE punch used by a robotic approach, Dr. Wesley used a smaller caliber hand-held motorized punch to performed the donor harvest. This 27-year-old male presented to our office after having undergone aggressive SMP at a center that convinced him that it would give a "youthful hairline" appearance. He grew frustrated by the unnatural appearance of the linear ink outline on his forehead and sought an alternative. He simply wanted to have a natural appearance and a healthy framing of his face. Dr. Wesley suggested that the patient undergo laser removal of the SMP. However, the patient still wanted to address his progressive receding hairline.. He underwent a follicular unit extraction (FUE) session with Dr. Carlos K. Wesley in which a total of 2722 grafts were placed. The patient returned both one day and ten days after his procedure and images of the patient can be seen below.

This 45-year-old man underwent a follicular unit extraction (FUE) session with Dr. Carlos K. Wesley in which a total of 2071 grafts were placed His hair follicles were incubated in autologous (his own) platelet rich plasma (PRP) throughout the duration of the procedure. This, combined with an ATP-containing storage solution has been shown to enhance survival of transplanted hairs. This patient had a prior FUE with the ARTAS Robot. This left his donor with a well-defined block that had been aggressively harvested and one aspect of his FUE revision with our group was to soften the appearance of his donor area. Dr. The patient returned 12 days after his procedure and images of the patient can be seen below.

In order to repair a poorly-executed transplant performed by another surgeon, this 41-year-old man underwent a combination of two approaches with Dr. Carlos K. Wesley: 1) a follicular unit extraction (FUE) session in which a total of 2483 grafts (from both scalp and beard) were placed followed by a skin micro pigmentation (SMP) procedure to the donor area. The patient returned 16 Months after his procedure and images of the patient can be seen below.

Using a 0.8mm follicular unit extraction (FUE) punch, Dr. Wesley was able to harvest 2331 in a single session. The patient can be seen before, during, and after his session. Even one week after his FUE procedure, this patient felt comfortable returning to work.

A 32-year-old liked his short hairstyle. However, the progressive thinning atop his scalp became hard to ignore despite his near-shaven look. He was skeptical of finasteride and preferred to address his hair loss with a follicular unit extraction (FUE) procedure with Dr. Carlos Wesley (NYC). Using a 0.8mm motorized punch, 2331 grafts were harvested and stored in the patient's platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and ACell prior to subsequent implantation. Results can be seen before and postoperative day #1.
