  1. no one can give you an honest opinion without photos depicting the degree of your hair loss and state of your donor - but most importantly I think everyone on this forum would advise you against going with Bosley. Don't limit yourself to NY doctors, although Feller & Bloxham are great doctors and by all means go for a consultation. Do some research on this site of other doctors' work. YOu may not be limited to FUT or strip surgery - maybe you are a good candidate for the less invasive procedure of FUE, even if you have to travel. I'm from NJ and I flew to Ottawa (less than 2 hour flight) to have surgery with Dr. Rahal because I wanted FUE and he is a world-renowned surgeon. Good luck to you.
  2. Dr Wong of H&W does some exceptional crown work recreating swirls, etc.
  3. there are other brands with the active ingredient - ketoconazole - that is in Nizoral with a combination of other beneficial ingredients for hair. check out this link: https://www.holdthehairline.com/nizoral-hair-loss/ I personally use the Regenpure products - the DR contains ketoconazole and the NT is the hair nourishing product - other brand names are just as effective and prices range dramatically - so you can shop based on your budget
  4. I hope you realize your pics don't look as disastrous as you make it sound. If you did nothing - except maybe get a different haircut/style - you look fine. If you wanted to go thru a repair process with an excellent top notch doctor, you would not be such a difficult case, especially if you kept the very conservative mature hairline that you have, and possibly both added grafts and re-distributed older ones. Either way, I hope you find a solution that makes YOU feel better about yourself. Like you, we in this community all know how difficult and emotional it is to deal with hair loss, and how it can bring us down. But there are solutions out there even for the worst cases - and you're certainly not in that category. You can easily improve upon what you have .. best of luck to you.
  5. all great advice, you'll risk having a surgical procedure to add hair where you want it, but it won't look as natural or at the density that you currently have - wait until you're mid 30's to reassess
  6. never heard of him in the hair restoration community but seems to be a plastic surgeon based on website info - one piece of advice I would automatically give is that you should limit your search to doctors whose practice is dedicated to hair transplants surgery only - it is a specialized field that requires unique skills and/or surgical tools that doctors who do also do liposuctions, rhinoplasty or facelifts won't necessarily have
  7. very interesting case, great write up and photos, you have a great donor despite the aggressive hair loss on top, really like the hairline design and will be very interested in seeing your progression, congrats, best wishes in your healing and growth
  8. I'm actually seeking someone in the US that performs unshaven FUE - I know Gabel and Cooley have done it in the past. Contacted my original surgeon Rahal, and they require you shave down the area, which is not an option for me since I don't have that much time off work, of course the cost factor probably goes up as well since the procedure is more time consuming as well - hope others have had some experiences here to share
  9. website says they do repair cases at an additional cost due to complexity, donor/recipient site scarring, and overall additional time required to perform surgery in repair cases -
  10. I flew to Canada from NJ for my procedure, so when going back home a few days after surgery, I just wore an oversized cap. I took it off when going thru security checkpoints, got a quick stare or glance from security personnel and just moved on. The one thing I did not anticipate was making sure you put your A-cell spray in a travel size bottle. Remember you still need to spray your grafts every hour of so by this time to keep them moist, and apparently my bottle was not the right size and security took it from me. Fortunately, my flight was less than 2 hours, but just something to keep in mind when traveling back home from surgery if you're flying.
  11. Since my entire head was shaved for my 1st procedure and I had never done that before, I decided to work from home as long as I could - obviously worked that out with my job beforehand - wore a hat alot when going outside. Then just kept everything short and even as things started to grow. By the time I went back to work it just looked like I decided to get a really really short haircut - a little shocking to some at first, but then everyone gets over it, and the self consciousness really starts to subside. Honestly, it was also very refreshing to have a buzz cut and not have to deal with styling etc. Just a breeze in the mornings with in and out of shower, towel dry hair, and get on with your day ..
  12. Rahal stands behind his work 100% -
  13. really nice result from your 1st procedure, amazing difference, also looks natural with good density, I would not worry about the front at all unless you feel you there are areas that need a touch up, good luck in your 2nd procedure -
  14. donor hairs used for transplantation are extracted from the "safe zone" on the back of the head where they are not susceptible to DHT and therefore should not miniaturize and die off ..
  15. If its strictly between Rahal and Edrogan, Rahal for the refinement and naturalness of the hairlines that he produces - whether FUT or FUE.
  16. depends on several things - 1) your own donor density - 2) size of FUE manual or motorized punch utilized by surgeon or tech - 3). extractions properly spread/spaced out so as to not over-harvest any particular donor zone, and 4). your own physiology and healing characteristics will affect degree of scarring
  17. its perfectly ok to have a second procedure 12 months post op- I had my second FUE about 12 months after my first So your first procedure was to your hairline and frontal zone? which in your pics looks pretty good. I assume you're contemplating a 2nd procedure for your midscalp area?
  18. 😍I could only dream of a hairline like that !
  19. Rahal would still be at the top of my list, but never hurts consulting and getting opinions from others: Konior, H&W, Gabel, Cooley. You really can't go wrong with any of these top docs - its just a matter of your goals and who you feel most comfortable with. Good luck.
  20. the problem is you're really not "getting over with it now" by getting a hair transplant .. you continue to progressively lose native hair, so you're actually committing to a keeping up with additional future surgeries - this coming from someone who had a HT in my 20's, it was a completely bad decision for me .. I'd recommend getting on meds, minox, supplements, etc and seeing how your hair loss pattern develops - wait until your 30's
  21. congratulations on your 2nd procedure and for going with one of the best doctors in the world!
  22. if scalp laxity has become an issue for you, why not go FUE
  23. I bet they're staring at your hairline and wishing they had as much hair as you! It looks great to the casual observer, but obviously if something bothers you about it and you can take care if it - I say do it. I'd add to your list at least a consult with The Hairline King - Dr. Rahal. Re-creator of some of the most beautiful, natural hairlines I've seen. Good luck
