  1. This question is part of the research 👍
  2. This is probably true but also not reality in most cases. The average person will usually pick #2 if it means saving 10k compared to #1. And since you can never know someone's financial situation, best to just answer directly if you can, otherwise keep scrolling. I still don't have an answer to my simple question.
  3. I think my question was pretty clear, sorry it was so confusing to you. Here's how the world works for most people when it comes to finding a doctor: First you do a search for providers in your area. Then you look at reviews, feedback, patient testimonials. Finally you might consider cost. Do I want to travel to Turkey when I live in the city that has the best of everything? No, no I don't. Might I travel to Turkey if it means saving $10,000? Maybe, maybe not. That's why I started by looking for a cost comparison. If you don't have a cost comparison, resist your urge to reply unnecessarily. I don't care about your thoughts and they don't answer my question.
  4. If I choose a "top guy" in NYC and Turkey, are there substantial financial savings by going to Turkey? Can someone give me a rough estimate? After airfare, hotel for some number of nights, if I'm going to save many thousands of dollars then the trip to Turkey would be worth it for me. If it's more in the range of $2,000 that's not worth the trouble. Has anyone looked into this? Thanks!
  5. I posted here a while back as a complete newbie asking all the basic questions. It's been over a year (life got in the way) and now I want to follow through and get something scheduled. After everything I learned, and after talking to friends that have traveled all over the world for their procedure, a while back I mostly decided I would go to Canada to see Dr. Rahal. If someone could answer a few questions for me that would really help. 1) Frankly, is Rahal still a top guy in the field? 2) I go between NYC and Tampa, FL. If I was to do the procedure in the US, does anyone have a recommendation in either of these locations? 3) In terms of FUE technology, is there a latest and greatest that I should look for? I don't want to use a doctor who isn't using the best new tools and techniques.
  6. I probably didn't explain correctly. So from what I understand the permanent donor area is that strip of hair that wraps around the back of your head in the classic bald guy look and will probably always be there. That area on me isn't very "tall" I guess is a better word. They said if it was taller then FUE might be a better choice. The guy in India was A r v i n d P o s w a l.
  7. I'm 46 and in excellent health and physical shape. I have what I guess is classic male pattern balding. Over the years my hair line has receded and thinned, and I have a very thin spot on top. I live in NYC and after a quick Google search I went to Bosley for a consultation. To be clear I had no intention of blindly using the first guy I saw, so this was more of a learning exercise. From what I read on this forum I should definitely not use Bosley (someone can explain why if you have time). They told me that my "permanent donor area" was thick and healthy, but that the strip was on the narrow side, and for that reason they would recommend FUT over FUE for me, and that I would require somewhere in the range of 2,500 to 3,000 grafts. And then later on I could decide if I wanted another procedure based on how happy I was with the volume I had achieved. They said the plus sides of FUT are that it would be less expensive, and that there's actually a slightly higher success rate at the follicle level. I guess I don't really care much about the scar since I wear my hair in a way that it would be hidden. So my first question is, does that all sound about right so far? I plan to get another opinion, probably from Feller since I live close to his office. Assuming he says something similar, my next question really comes down to cost. I have a close friend who flew to India to have his FUE done by A r v i n d P o s w a l. To be honest when I first heard this I thought he was out of his mind. But after some research I guess the guy is like one of the top guys in the world and does a bunch of celebrity-types in India. So the question is... Is that a good idea? I don't want to say money isn't a concern, but I *could* afford the NYC prices if I had to. Obviously if I can fly to India and save 10k I'd probably do it as long as enough educated and experienced people say it's a safe, good idea. Your comments are appreciated.
