  1. Good questions Brandon. I know you’re going back for a follow-up but I don’t know what they are going to be able to say or do that will change anything. You already got your money back, you may want to consider finding another doctor who specializes in FUE ...right away. This website is a great place to find one. You had a relatively small number of grafts removed. If your donor area is strong and viable a reputable surgeon can make a big difference. Regarding a couple of your questions. Ingrown hairs are very common after surgery and typically not an issue. I had many and they took care of themselves. If any get infected you need to treat them properly but that doesn’t occur too often. Also, keep your donor area clean and you will be surprised how quickly it recovers. Please keep us posted.
  2. I’ve been checking back for a response to your question....Bill. Interesting that there has been no response.
  3. Be thankful for that hairline! Glad you’re happy with Dr. Nader’s work.
  4. I’m so sorry and feel very badly for you. You rarely if ever...hear about an experience like this. During your follow-up find out exactly what happened to the grafts. Transection or damaged grafts typically occurs less than 5% of the time and surgeons then harvest other grafts to suplant the transected ones. That failure rate is super high! Losing 300 grafts will not make a visual difference once your surrounding hairs grow out but you are correct, you hate to lose that many grafts. I’m curious, were all the grafts removed by a technician or the surgeon? Ask what size surgical “punch” was being used. Typically, surgeons are using a .08 mm punch. Did you use a surgeon who specializes in hair transplants or a general plastic surgeon? Provide us a little more information if you can. Again, sorry for your experience. Make a list of questions to ask at your follow-up appointment. Keep us posted. I’m very interested to hear the exact explanation as to what happened.
  5. Nice result Dr. Wesley. Your patient reminds me of my hair loss (NW6) prior to my 2012 surgery of 5,000+ grafts. I’m sure your patient is quite pleased.
  6. I’m with Bill on this one. What fabulous results with only 1,250 grafts and after only 8 months. Based on the photos her hair seems to be quite long now. If her transplanted grafts started growing around the 3rd or 4th month and with a typical growth rate of about a half inch per month her new hairs would have only grown a couple inches. it appears that her hair is very long already. I’m sure there may be a good explanation and it may just be the photographic angles and lighting that makes the hair to appear longer. I’m sure your patient is very thrilled. Congratulations Dr. Dua.
  7. Really nice results Dr. Devote. Great results in a tough area to cover. I’m sure your patient is thrilled.
  8. Glad you’re pleased. Hair line is looking good.
  9. It’s difficult to determine the number of hairs per sq centimeter but experienced surgeons can examine your donor area and will remove just the number of grafts you need (the beauty of FUE). I was a Norwood 6 but had good donor areas. Choose a skilled surgeon and get a consult with a reputable doctor. My first consult was a WebMD consult online. That gave me a good baseline and start. Best of luck to you. You will be pleased in the end. You’ve started in the right place. This website highlites great doctors and offers plenty of advice from experienced transplant recipients.
  10. You may be surprised what an accomplished FUE surgeon can do with your budget in mind. You mentioned needing your temple/hairline worked on. I always encourage readers on this website to go with the doctor they feel most comfortable with and to spend an additional $300 or so to travel wherever you need to go. I’m obviously an advocate for Dr. Vories and I know he has performed surgery on many African-Americans. Carolina Hair Surgery has a graduated cost and payment plan ranging from $4-5 per graft. Continue doing your homework on this website and I’m sure you will make the right decision for you. Don’t be discouraged, you may be surprised what can be accomplished with your budget.
  11. Congratulations. Very nice results with 3,700 grafts. Well done Dr. Bhatti.
  12. I’ve always been an advocate for FUE over strip surgery. I never wanted that lengthy scar to deal with. I had my first surgery in 2012 when I was a NW6. I had my second surgery a couple years later (2,000 grafts) to fill in and thicken some areas. I’m posting a picture that I’ve shown many times but you may not have seen it. This picture shows my donor area after about 1,750 grafts were harvested during my first surgery. As you can see, there is no real visible scarring to be concerned with. If I wore my hair very short, no one would notice anything. You can see my entire journey at MyFUEhairTransplant.com. Keep us posted with pictures on this website.
  13. I’m so glad you are pleased and your new hairline looks very good. Months 3-6 typically show very good progress. I’m sure your friends and family think you look much younger. Congrats to you and your surgeon. Thanks for the update.
  14. The responses in this conversation thread shows the true value of this hair restoration website. I’m glad this 17 year old was able to reach out to many experienced recipients of hair transplants for candid advice and was mature enough to consider the advice. We all wish him luck and will be here for him down the road.
  15. I agree with “Arrie”. Don’t let the locality of the doctor drive your decision. I’m sure the doctors in your area are excellent but the additional cost of a plane ticket is not much compared to what your about to spend on a hair transplant. I don’t know what the cost per graft is in the Chicago area but I’m sure its quite expensive. I had my transplant done in South Carolina where it costs $4-5 per graft depending on the total number of grafts resulting in thousands of dollars in savings with more than excellent results. Best of luck to you.
  16. I don’t know anything about Turkish doctors but having a hair transplant at 17 is quite unusual. I hope you visit several doctors and get multiple opinions. How you feel about your hairline now may change when your in your adult years. Tough decision for you. Again, get multiple opinions. Best of luck to you.
  17. Looks like you’re recovering quickly. Keep us posted with pictures each month. You have a lot to look forward to 3-4 months from now.
  18. Well done Dr. Konier with just a limited number of grafts. You’re patient must be very satisfied with the results. Another excellent FUE result.
  19. Very nice job helping this guy out with a relatively low number of grafts used. Bad transplant design with a large punch size is not a good combination. Nice work and thanks for sharing.
  20. Sorry to hear your having a hard time sleeping. Everyone reacts differently regarding the healing process. I had over 5,000 grafts done in a multi-day procedure in 2012. I slept better by stacking a couple pillows so the angle was different and less pressure on the back of my head. You’ve probably already tried that. It will definitely get better each day. Glad you got a good deal in Turkey. I’m sure you will be pleased with the results in a few months. You can certainly pay $7-10 per graft here in the states but where I had my surgery the cost was $4-5 per graft depending on the number of grafts. Also Dr. Vories does all the extractions and insertions himself. Best of luck to you as you heal. Keep us posted with updates.
  21. Looking good “Yoyoo”. I’m so glad you’re pleased with your results so far. You have a lot to look forward to. I’m also glad you had a good experience in Turkey. Do you mind sharing with us the total cost of your procedure including your expenses to Turkey?
  22. Very nice results with nearly 3,000 grafts. I’m sure you are quite pleased. Let’s hope you have some additional thickening down the road. Good for you ....and your surgeon.
  23. Hang in there. You should see much more growth in the coming months. Keep us posted with updated photos each month. Prolonged pink scalp is very typical of many transplants. It does reassure you that there is plenty of blood “percolation” occurring. You have plenty to look forward to.
  24. How many grafts were transplanted? It looks like you’re seeing some initial growth. Have you had a follow up consult with your surgeon? Give us a little more info.
