  1. You need to have a doctor evaluate your case to determine the probability of your future hair loss. Your expectations need to be realistic - you will likely not get full coverage in 1 FUE surgery given your current hair loss stage. I would think the initial restoration would be only to your hairline and frontal zone behind that - no midscalp or crown.
  2. there is an area called the "safe zone" from which the doctors will excise the strip, this is the back part of the head which even if you progressed to a NW6, would still have hair on it because those hairs are not affected by DHT. Think of men with a horseshoe pattern of hair loss - and the strip being taken in that zone where hair exists.
  3. you have a youthful appearance and the way you style your hair helps that .. get on meds for a year to stabilize hair loss, try some shampoos with DHT blockers and ketoconazole along with nourishing conditioners, see how that goes before you take the plunge with surgery - as others have stated, because hair loss is progressive, once you've undergone surgery as your age, you''ll be playing catch-up 5-10-15-20 years down the road as you continue to lose native hairs more surgery will be required - so remember that if you do take the surgery route, don't go overboard, be conservative so that you manage your limited donor supply for a lifetime, good ethical doctors won't steer you wrong, but you need to be careful
  4. I think you should also contact Dr. Umar to see what options he might give you about repairing your current situation. As others have stated, you probably arent a candidate for full restoration, but I think restoring your frontal zone and framing your face with a very conservative, naturally receding hairline, and possibly re-distribution of the grafts, along with some beard & body hair for density, you could definitely see an improvement over what that butcher clinic did to you. I hope you're pursuing them as well for compensation - what they did is certainly "medical malpractice" and no where near the standard of care in the industry today. In addition, I think you could successfully file get compensation for "disfigurement". See an attorney.
  5. I'm from the NY area in the US and had 2 FUE sessions with Rahal - feel free to PM me if you'd like
  6. depends on the doctor and clinic, how they're doing the extractions, manual, motorized, or via ARTAS, and whether techs are doing any of the extractions - I know nothing about your Dr and/or how he operates his clinic, I didn't have surgery with him, you did - and you apparently didn't know he was doing 2-3 procedures a day
  7. For someone to conclusively state the results are subpar - you would have had to have confirmation that a significant amount of transplanted grafts did not grow. If you achieved a 85-95% growth of all transplanted grafts via FUE - then the doctor's work is certainly within the standard - so cut to the chase and determine how many grafts took. Any respectable doctor or clinic will touch up areas or graftss that did not take - I don't believe in your case there will be that many - you attempted to cover your entire scalp with 3500 graftss - what is usually needed for just the frontal zone / hairline and immediately behind it
  8. choosing recommended doctors is one of may reasons for this forum, its also for soliciting opinions and advice from other members who have undergone HT's and are pretty familiar with the process - you seem to be "stuck" in your cycle of thinking without having an open mind to listen to others opinions so I won't continue to go round and round with you .. as I've said before.. good luck
  9. go to another surgeon - it doesn't matter what other results the Dr. is posting, people have different hair characteristics, loss pattern, etc etc etc. 3500 grafts for your own individual case would have NEVER gotten you full coverage, period - your expectation is not realistic and maybe your doctor exaggerated what he could have done for you - good luck ps - if you want to achieve the illusion of more density - you shouldn't wear your hair so short as you do, let it grow out longer and it will look better
  10. I agree, nothing wrong with the result for 3400 grafts over the large area treated. If that same graft count had been concentrated in the frontal zone exclusively and not in the mid-scalp as you had, you might have had a denser result, however as others have stated, you would have needed a 2nd surgery for the mid-scalp to up to your crown which was not even addressed and you may not have enough donor to even contemplate that. Nothing really wrong with your result other than its light coverage that can be easily addressed with a 2nd pass of another 1500-2k grafts. Good luck and don't stress, you look better than when you started out.
  11. Dr. Lindsey is an excellent surgeon, so is H&W. If I lived in the DC area, I'd go at least talk to Dr. Lindsey, get his opinion and plan of action for your condition. You can do a online consult or even Skype I believe with H&W without traveling to them. See who you are most comfortable with, who has a plan that makes the most sense to you, etc. and make a decision. Either way you can't go wrong, you'll just be more informed and comfortable going into your procedure.
  12. US docs will charge up to $10. My procedure with Rahal was $8 Canadian so with the favorable exchange rate it was less in US $12 is definitely outside the average range and excessive unless there are other services provided with the procedure such as PRP injections or other ancillary services, excellent post-op care, etc. That being said, do your research, ask alot of questions, know what you're getting, and be informed,- if a Top Doc with excellent results was charging $12 per FUE graft and I wanted my procedure done by him or her, I would pay it because I believe you get what your pay for in the end .. good luck
  13. To have the best result possible, shaving the recipient area is the best way to go, whether for the doctor and techs, and also for your own end result. At the end of the day, I bit the bullet and laid low for a couple of weeks through vacation time and requests to work from home. And I went with Dr. Rahal who does not do no shave procedures. My priority was having the best doctor perform my procedure, not finding a doctor who does no shaves. I'd reconsider your position.
  14. i'd go to your general physician to have that checked out, possibly irritation or an infection due to grafts trying to grow through the skin, I experienced occasional pimple activity, which may be similar, and was told to use an antibiotic creme to relieve them, and it did the job, best to get it checked out by a doctor.. good luck
  15. that frontal zone restoration looks great, grafts look tightly packed for good density, and hairline design is very conservative which should serve you well into the future, congrats, heal and grow well.
  16. truly amazing, love seeing new revolutionary developments and techniques with FUE which make it less detectable while already being less invasive than FUT - keep up the great work Dr. Asmed
  17. I was someone who spent years and tons of time, products and energy trying to cover up my baldness and believe me - its not worth it. You have to ask yourself, do you want to continue that process when in fact you're not fooling anyone with a comb over or creative hairstyle. I, for one, was tired of using hair sprays, gels, and being afraid of wind or the weather. It comes a time when you have to be honest with yourself and take the plunge in order to achieve a better you. Sounds cliche, but there really is no gain without some pain. Its a few uncomfortable months of your life, you'll adjust by wearing hats when you can, etc. but in the end, you'll wonder why you didn't address your hair loss issue sooner, believe me!
  18. actual growth in the 4th month - significant improvement in the 6th month
