  1. Dutchie - there's some definite improvement and growth there from the last pic you posted! Don't lose faith! Are you trying Rogaine foam in the mornings & evenings consistently for several months to speed up the growth. Best of luck man.
  2. HSRP - who are the docs that excel at the stick and place method with FUE? It seems to me that the top knotch docs aren't that interested in doing small "touch-up" sessions for the obvious reasons - but I think it would be a great ancillary part of a mature practice given the number of people that have had HTs and are constantly either trying to improve results or keep up maintenance etc. Thanks
  3. you need to consider several things if you are going the FUT route. If you are not shaving the recipient area, and the doctor will be creating slits for recipient grafts in between existing hairs, that existing hair & surrounding area may be subject to shock loss. In addition, your donor area in the back may be subject to shock loss around the incision site, in other words above and below the suture line. You will need to camouflage your FUT scar well enough with existing hair on the back of your head, therefore you would need to let it grow out before your procedure. Depending on the type of sutures the doctor uses (ie. staples sometimes) - those don't come out for 10 days! therefore I can't see how you could be back to work as if you've had nothing done in a week. I had FUE surgery and had my entire head shaved, I took 2 weeks vacation and 2 weeks work from home - and even after 4 weeks, when I went back to work it was noticeable that I did something to my head! shortness of hair, redness both in recipient & donor sites, etc. Good luck to you.
  4. aesthetically pleasing and conservative hairline that will serve this gentleman well for years to come, congrats Dr. Arocha on the beautiful work
  5. great to hear... wouldn't expect anything less from H&W, and you deserve your issues being addressed. Dutchie, would it be possible to see a pic of your current state of growth?
  6. after its all done, #1 you will be relieved, and #2 you will remember that you went thru all that pre-surgery anxiety for nothing! The good docs and clinics have staff that look after you like you're a newborn baby! Very concerned about your comfort, etc. It really is quite painless and I'm sure you will have had dental procedures that were more painful. Best of luck -
  7. you're definitely one of Dr. Rahal's best cases - and he has a great track record for consistently great results - congrats and enjoy
  8. if you've been reading these boards for some time, you would have seen many comments about NEVER limiting your doctor choice to your geographic location, I know nothing about Portugal, but you should not limit your choice and therefore have an unpredictable outcome because you chose to stay local for "convenience". Its a simple plane ride to reach one of the top docs in Spain, Turkey, Europe or the US. Furthermore, you will NEVER replicate the density that you had or still have in your donor area, that's just unrealistic. A HT provides the "illusion" of density by movement of hair from your donor area to your recipient area - therefore you have a limited amount to draw from as your male pattern baldness continues to progress and you may need additional surgeries in the future. All things I think you need to consider and do more research on.
  9. have you done research on enough doctors to have a short list? and are you going the FUT or FUE route?
  10. It states that on the box because technically that's where it was clinically tested, but Rogaine is acceptable for use on the entire scalp.
  11. I think Diep is a fine doctor, a bit too aggressive for my taste in terms of his hairline placements. I say that to you because its obvious you have miniaturization going on in your temporal regions and they will continue to recede, you don't want a hairline that is too low, or not age appropriate if the temporal regions are not also addressed, otherwise it tends to look un-natural. I say go a bit more conservative with an age-appropriate hairline with some recession and you'll be happy for quite a long time, otherwise you'll be chasing that lower hairline with who knows how many more surgeries down the road to keep up.. just my opinion.
  12. read your story and really felt your pain through your words, so sorry for all you had to go thru, but remember the struggles and hard times are what make us stronger, I hope you've found some inner peace with your renewed natural look, I think SMG did an outstanding job for you, best of luck to you and thanks for sharing your story, I think while your pain is not unique to hair loss sufferers, we certainly understand and empathize.
  13. enjoyed your video! even though you are the same person with or without hair, there is no doubt you appear much happier - that's the most important thing.. I also believe my HT decision was the best thing I could have done for myself - I only wish I had done it sooner and had spared myself all the grief of trying to conceal my baldness! Happy New Year
  14. i agree with many of the comments posted here, you're way too young to be looking into a HT at this stage, you have what appears to be alot of miniaturization in the crown area, so that area is bound to become thinner, you also don't know how much your lateral humps will drop so you don't want a patch of hair on top of your head seperated from your sides that looks like an island... sorry for the bad news but your best route is to take a wait & see approach until your late 20's early 30's and see how your hair loss progresses or stabilizes. Look into getting on meds if they're appropriate for you, some natural supplements (ie. saw palmetto, MSM, b-complex), better shampoos, minox, etc. best of luck to you and you always have the support of this community for advice, seeing others' experiences, etc.
  15. really nice progress and result, you should be very happy!
  16. most, if not all, of the transplanted hairs shed (not grow) a couple of weeks after the HT, they go into a resting phase and won't start to re-grow for 3-4 months.
  17. maybe?? but are you taking into consideration what your progressive balding pattern will be when you're in your 30's, 40's or 50's even if you get a HT now?? What work and donor will you need for future loss??? That's the key to planning a HT particularly for someone as young as you...
  18. If you're looking to do things in one shot, you're probably a H&W candidate. I've seen them stretch the strip they take from your donor so to speak a bit more than other surgeons do. But again, that shouldn't be your primary concern. You should consult with a few of the best top notch docs recommended here and see what they recommend for your individual situation. HT's are not cookie cutter surgeries.
  19. I absolutely LOVE seeing successful repair work like this - primarily because I had those 90's plugs too! Congrats Dr. Bloxham, your patient must be extremely grateful for your work.
