  1. My hair caliber is thick. I don't know the number but it's noticily thick as individual strands - on the back at least! Right now I'm trying to decide between dr konior and Dr lupanzula. Both are coming in at a similar price, but I may have to wait 8 months longer for dr konior. I've not gotten info from Dr. bisanga yet.... given this is my intended last touch on my hairline and frontal region, is it better to hold oit for dr konior?
  2. The progesterone cream really puzzles me. It's used to treat women who are 'too hairy' - ie hirsutism - so how can it both grow hair and reduce haor at the same time? Is it different types of folicle responding differently?
  3. I'm also microdosing by disolving it in alcohol. The dht inhibition vs dosage seems very flat in the studies so even 0.05 mg should have some effects - though I do wonder about the half-life - ie is it better to take 0.05mg twice a day than 0.1 once a day? Even on 0.05 i do experience some brain fog for a few hours. The fact this reduces over the course of a day suggests to me the dht inhibition is reducing - though I'd love a more scientific opinion. The response time from taking the medication to getting brain fog is quite quick 30 mins even. By the way what in calling brain fog is really a mild 'out of body' like feeling. I don't think it's really affecting my cognition, more sometimes I feel a little dizzy / my depth perception seems slightly off. Does this also happen for others?
  4. I've long hair, which hides my frontal zone (not too dissimilar to my avatar!) - if I cut it short pre-op, people would know I've had work done as my frontal zone is not very dense - and to date no one knows I've had this done. If I shaved Id have to take months off to let everything re-grow, which I can't do - I can probably get a max of a week off. Previously I had a HT on a Friday and was back to work on the Monday, and no one knew I had it at all.
  5. Hi All, I know it's not as common to not shave the recipient sites - but for some of us 'concealers' it's necessary. Does anyone know a) Which doctors require shaving the recipient site b) Of those, which are best? For example, I know the following are willing to go the 'no shave' route: Dr LupanZula Dr Saifi Dr Konior How about Bisanga, Fierduini, Lorezo, Others?
  6. Thanks, that's very informative. So the 3k graft number in this region makes sense, he's estimating 2.8k. I have undergone two procedures previously - 500 when I was 25, and 1700 2 years ago. I've been recently quoted that I need about 1500 to thicken it up. I'm wondering though if the act of repeated procedures to get density results in a significant percentage of transection - which would not happen in a single session. So by theses estimares if I did have the 1500 extra I should have a dense hairline? I will try post pictures later if I can take good enough ones to show what I'm starting with.

    S5 cream

Hi all, I'm currently microdosing on fin, but honestly I'd love to not be on it at all as even on a low dose I have side effects though perhaps milder. I've recently read about topical s5 cream - the idea behind it seems sound, it does reduce dht, it just blocks the dht receptors in the hair folicles. Small studies seemed to show it does not get absorbed by the body so side effects are not reported. There is a new version with some mild dht reducers also. Does anyone here use it, and for to self us who don't like fin, is it a good option? I'm currently thinking of starting this and minoxidil to try thicken and keep my crown, as I'm currently nw2 but I feel crown density ain't what it used to be.
  8. Hi, I'm trying to figure out if my expectations of what can be done are reasonable - I've seen some great results on here, but would like some general info on what is reasonable to expect. Natively I'm a norwood 2 maybe edgin a 2.5. Looking at the attached diagram that outlines the zones - 1 2 3 etc: If you were to focus only on zones 1 and 2 - how many hairs per cm is possible? Hiw many look natural? I've been told my donor hair is dense - 85 to 100 hairs per cm. - but what can a good ht achieve, what would look 'normal'? Also what physical area are zones 1 and 2 this - ive actually a smallish head so I'm guessing between 20 and 30 cm2 but I'm not sure. 3k fus would mean 100 to 200 hairs in this region depending on the hairs per fu. Hiw many would typically be used? Any and all input is appreciated!
  9. Hi, I had a ht (my 2nd) on the frontal hairline, extending perhaps a few cm back. 1700 fus, approx 2 yeas ago. The first procedure was 12 years ago and was small (500 fus), in the same region. When going for the 2nd procedure the intent was to fill in for the loss of native hair that had occurred in the ten years between ops. What's worrying me now is - 2 years later I'm seeing pretty low density right the hair line again. I've two theories for what it could be: 1) I had a lot of native hair here all along that's just now receded. 2) my 2nd procedures hairs happen to be going through a natural hair cycle and a large proportion are in the telogen phase. Is the 2nd theory plausible? Obviously immediately after a procedure it happens where most hairs shed at once. However is it possible for another growth cycle many of them are still 'in sync' ? I've heard people talk about winter shedding etc. I'd love it to be the case, and my htransplanted hair is not really this thin. I'm definitely disappointed to think I have to go for yet another procedure just to have just a few cm of my hairline dense. At this rate I'll have 10 procedures before I'm done! I see others here with amazingly strong results with that number of fus after just a single procedure. Any comments or theories greatly appreciated!
  10. At times I envy guys who have shaved. I can't because I've had a ht and it would be obvious - but the relief for this who take the plunge and shave and then dont have to worry about it again. However I'm sure I'm idealising that as much as those who may idealise / wish they had started things like fin and ht earlier to preserve their hair. Either road is not easy. I've stayed on fin for the time being. I'm currently microdosing it. What amazes me is the dosage curve really is very flat - 0.1mg still can show sides, though perhaps a little reduced. I agree the thought that the effects of fin lingered for 12 years is terrifying. I am in exactly the same boat where I'm.questioning of even microdosing is a sane thing to do given the potential power of this drug. However on reflection I had higher libido in my twenties than i dId 12 years after stopping fin - i just never felt it was high enough during any period and perhaps blamed fin for that. I remember at 25 telling a doctor i found it difficult to have sex more than once a day and she looked at me wit an expression as if to say 'get over yourself' - as at her age it likely was once a week or less!!
  11. I've been looking for any data there is on norwood progression vs age. I know an individual case may be an outlier - but there must be some trends. I'd be interested if anyone has any info (personal or otherwise) for things like: 1) Is there a correlation between when you start balding and what you end up as? i.e. start at 20 - likely will become a NW6/7, start at 40 - likely will become a NW3/4 2) If it's taken 10 years to go 1 step on the NW scale - is it likely the loss progression will accelerate/decelerate/stay the same i.e. NW2 @ 25, NW3 @ 35 ... ? 3) Does hair loss stabilize/slow down at any age? 4) Are there any scientific or otherwise predictors for eventual NW level?
  12. Your story is amazingly similar to mine - so much so it makes me wonder in a way if I was partially DHT deficient for years after my initial fin usage. I've heard that after coming off fin the body does not always revert to the perevious DHT level. For example, in my late twenties / last few years I would have had sex regularly, but also lost my erection sometimes - and always thought I was too young for that. Now at 37, in the last year or so I would have said my libido had increased somewhat, and failed erections decreased, and even the odd morning wood appeared, etc. I don't want to sound like the difference was dramatic - but I'd say noticeable. I recently think my hair loss - which has progressed slowly over the last 12 years has (perhaps) started to accelerate. So could it be that my DHT was lower for years, which was naturally keeping my hair loss from progressing - and once my body kicked itself into normal DHT production my libido increased and my hair loss has too? Again - its not been a dramatic shift, but something to consider. One other thing - it could all be in my head (pardon the pun!) - perhaps I'm noticing my hair loss more now as its just been progressing steadily, but the ht has 'protected' my hairline and now its receding past that point? I do think the whole top of my head has thinned out in the last year - though still not noticable as I've longish hair all over/diffuse thinning. I'm kind of scared I'll go from full head of hair to nothing in a year - with the transplanted tuft at the front!
  13. Hi bill, Thanks for the reply. I absolutely think some of it could be mental / 'placebo effect' in reverse - that was part of the motivation for asking for others experiences. I see from your photos you have a great result - did you loose much hair while on it? Do you think ht is (in the end) the best way to handle loss?
  14. I have just started finasteride again after having tried it 12 years ago and stopping as I had a ht. I naively assumed that a single ht would solve the issue - and because I thought I was experiencing sides even though I was only 25 I stopped. I decided to try again as it does seem to be effective for those that can use it. So after 3 days on it I do believe I'm experiencing something again so wanted to compare this with anyone else good enough to share their experience - even those without loss of libido may experience watery seen or loss of morning wood for example. It would also be good to know if the fact I am experiencing something so quickly is a sign I should stop immediately or not. Age: Time taking fin: Sides first noticed: (could be never for those lucky enough) Type of sides: Did sides go away while on fin: How long till sides went away after stopping: I'll go first - Age: 37 Time taking fin: 3 days Sides first noticed: 1 day Type of sides: Softer erection, harder to stimulate. Did sides go away while on fin: Not yet How long till sides went away after stopping: NA Thanks to everyone who replies or who has other advice.
  15. I imagine the answer is 'it depends' - however I feel it would be good to hear from as many people as possible on their experience. I've just started a 1.25mg dose of fin. I'm 37 and norwood 2 to 3. Id love to know if fin really jus means a ht is delayed by 10 years or if it's prevented. It would seem to be the case that reducing dht really only delays the loss but thr loss itself is somewhat inevitable - is this true? How many people have seen no further loss after years of using fin, and how many see loss but slowing?
