  1. Dr. De Freitas's rep, Ignacio is really helpful. @De Freitas Clinic
  2. I think from the recommended list Dr. Bisanga has a youtube channel where he discusses different hair transplant topics. I'm not sure I know anyone else from that list off the top of my head. Dr. Lindsey likes to talk about specific cases that he does but I never watch them cause I prefer pictures over videos... But I'm sure Dr. Lindsey's vids are solid as well though he probably talks more about specific cases rather than hair transplantation overall. And some of them have websites too where you can find information since writing about hair transplants will boost a sites SEO
  3. I got recommended one of his videos on Youtube yesterday funnily enough. I have two issues with him. 1. He's not fully dedicated to hair transplants since he does like 20 different surgeries aside from hair transplants. He may not be as knowledgeable as someone who's fully dedicated to their craft like Konior. Plus, clinics like that sometimes just use the ARTAS robot because if they aren't doing hair transplants every day, it doesn't make that much sense to keep a team of techs on the sideline. 2. He comes off as more of a reaction Youtuber than a information Youtuber. Though to be fair, a lot of hair transplant advice is just very basic advice (i.e. FUE vs FUT, don't go to an unethical doctor, take fin etc etc). So at the very least he's going to be qualified to give the most basic advice. Just maybe not the in-depth knowledge you might get from a guy like Dr. Bisanga. I watched his Elon Musk video and it seemed to match up with what people (i.e. people in the HT community) are saying for the most part but when he estimated the cost of Musk's transplant I felt like it wasn't correct. He said $10 per graft, but that's more of an FUE price in a high CoL area in the US. Even in the Bay Area, you might only see $8 per graft for FUE and he's quoting $10 per graft for FUT. He specifically acknowledges that Elon got FUT but then still quotes an FUE price. And assuming Elon went to H&W (which is the general consensus on this board), then for FUT, they charge $5 CAD for the first 2k grafts and $3 for the rest. And then tack on the currency conversion (due to Elon being Canadian) and Elon would have paid less than 40% of Linkov's actual estimate. And that $10 figure also ignores foreign clinics like Eugenix, De Freitas, Couto, Lorenzo etc etc who are much cheaper and also have amazing results. The only doctor I can think of that comes close to $10 for FUT is Konior.
  4. Did you have any issues leaving Canada? Just wondering if there are any hoops you have to jump through to leave the country or reenter the country as a Canadian citizen
  5. I feel like there are way too many posters with 1 post dropping a review in the results posted by patients section. It's really suspicious when people literally create an account for the sole purpose of creating a review. It really just doesn't make sense when you've got guys who go to some clinic who conveniently isn't recommended here and drops a review with one post. If HRN wasn't part of the research process, I really wonder why it's part of the reviewing process. Maybe some kind of minimum post requirement could help?
  6. Do you use any styling products? Imo, if you use certain styling products, you really need to use shampoo to get it all out.
  7. Yeah I agree. I have less loss than OP and all the doctors I've consulted with are willing to offer me a transplant in the range of 2500-3000 grafts so I'm a bit surprised that they would turn down OP who is a NW3 going on diffuse NW5/6. Though I'm a touch older than OP though maybe the extra couple years is enough to take me out of "too young for transplant range. I personally consider OP a NW5/6. It looks like he's got diffuse thinning throughout the entire midscalp. Just cause it's not slick bald doesn't mean it's not a NW5/NW6 imo. The way I see it, if you can see a NW5 pattern emerging then you're a NW5 at least.
  8. Any chance it was done by a Dr. C? I went to his office downtown for a consultation and he offered me 1200 grafts. Other doctors recommended 2600/3000 (although online consultations) so I wouldn't be surprised if it was Dr. C since he prefers to go lower density though he seems like an ethical doctor and cares about his patients long term.
  9. Assuming that I'm in the same situation but didn't have enough to afford a transplant outright... I'd probably choose not to take out the loan. I can still hide the recession in my hairline with certain hairstyles that cover my temples so I don't feel like it's super urgent. In the hypothetical scenario where I might need to take out a loan, I really feel more comfortable having the financial security of 10k+ rather than having my temples fixed. But I would definitely work towards saving my disposable income so I could afford a transplant. Though some clinics have a wait time of a few months anyway, so you could probably just make the down payment and save up the rest during the wait. I don't blame people who would take out that loan though. A transplant could make a massive difference in career, dating, and other areas of life.
  10. Sorry, no clue. I don't have any loss in the crown, or at least any loss that was perceivable to the doctor who looked through my hair.
  11. I've got a double crown as well funnily enough. When I went for an in person consultation the doctor pointed it out and it was a huh moment. Anyway, if all the hair is gone in the crown, couldn't you just ask for a single whorl?
  12. Sometimes I wish Konior would post worse results so I dont feel bad not going for him and spending 10+ dollars per graft
  13. Is this related to hair transplants at all? If you're having issues with managing your hair, you shuold be talking to a hair stylist.
  14. wtf konior did that with 1600 grafts? Are you using toppik or something?
  15. I thought Dr. Tsuji/Riken encountered some issues? I could've swore I read an article about it
  16. Not to one up you or anything but I read an article from Dr. K about it. https://www.chicagohairinstitute.com/blog/2016/11/08/benefits-of-the-stick-and-place-hair-176309
  17. I like to read Dr. Rassman's blog and posts on reddit. Dr. Rassman seems to be a lot more about medication and SMP though. But also the clinics and their websites are really great too. They usually post a ton of information on their website for SEO purposes and the reps are usually really knowledgeable. Probably the most useful information I've gained is just from doing a consultation and talking to the reps who've seen hundreds of transplants. It's really great being able to ask them a ton of questions and having them answer them. Obviously, you'd love to ask the doctor these questions, but if not the doctor, who else is more qualified than the guys who's job is literally to discuss hair transplants? Plus, you can send them your photos or do a skype consult and they can really explain to you your situation and a proposed solution. Sometimes the reps are really pushy and they wake you up on a Saturday morning.... Speaking from experience... But all the reps here have been super professional and helpful.
  18. I mean, just be honest. Part of it is up to the doctor to temper your expectations and discuss with you what hairline they envision for you. Though obviously you should have realistic expectations of what you're looking for as well. Nothing wrong with answering the question truthfully unless you've got an unethical surgeon who isn't looking at your future
  19. That's odd. Did they confirm it would be in England? They literally have locations in Turkey listed on their website
  20. control + f Turkey There's a non-zero chance they fly you out to Turkey where the labor is cheaper
