  1. Idk, NW2 or NW3. You should be okay, the donor looks great plus NW2/NW3 usually aren't so strapped for donor hairs though obviously always important to keep donor hair management in mind for the future.
  2. My hair loss is very similar to you so I'd say I'm fairly knowledgeable here. 2k to 3k has been the number I've seen from similar cases where they are taking a hairline like yours and turning it into a NW1 (straight hairline). But I've also seen cases where its gone as high as 4k and I've received a consultation for as low as 1.2k from an in person consultation with a local doctor (my hair is fairly coarse and the doc was quite conservative). Though in my honest opinion, 2.25 to 2.75k is probably the sweet spot This is 100% assuming you are going for a NW1 hairline (i.e. straight line)
  3. The only place he has an degree of density is in the nape. I wonder if he's gonna be grabbing it from there...
  4. If ethical clinics aren't taking you, you should take that as a sign. If I were a doctor, I wouldn't take you either. They're gonna take 1k grafts and put it your hairline which sounds kinda reasonable if you even have 1k grafts there. But 1000 beard/chest grafts to your crown? From what I understand, you need to blend the body hair with the scalp hair and I dont even know if you have the scalp hair for that. Your donor is stretched so thin, and if you talk to some ethical drs who do BHT wont take you, I would just consider giving up or going the hair system route. It seems pretty questionable if you are even a candidate for surgery to me. You look NW7 to me but it's hard to tell for sure
  5. Well, I wouldn't worry so much about the surgery or future results so much since it's out of my control and I've pretty much been planning all of it out for months so it's not like I want to be making last minute adjustments. I'd probably just make sure I follow the pre-operative instructions to the best of my ability but beyond that there really isn't that much you can do is there? With post-op care, is it just applying saline, taking medication, and doing whatever at certain intervals during the day? In theory, couldn't you go out for a couple hours to eat at a restaurant and head back to the hotel room afterward for post-op? That sounds like a really good idea. I might just end up doing that. Though just wondering if I took a 3 week vacation and scheduled my transplant at the start, would I be able to do stuff after resting for a week or so? Ah, I see. Could you at least wear like a surgical cap or something?
  6. I figure if I'm going to fly somewhere to get a hair transplant, I might as well make the most of it. So I've seriously been considering maybe booking a few extra days at a hotel and bringing someone along with me. I'm currently WFH, and even ignoring the WFH stuff, my company is pretty generous with their vacation days and it wouldn't be very difficult for me to conceivably book off an entire month at a time... I think I get about a months worth of paid time off per year. Maybe if I booked it in December, I might even be able to take vacation days from the following year as well. I could conceivably spend a ton of time without having any work related issues. Is it practical to go out and explore the city and do activities after a transplant? Obviously, I assume it's probably not a good idea to go swimming or do something that might expose your scalp to potential damage but I was thinking of at least trying some restaurants or even going sightseeing. What kind of activities can I actually go out and partake in if I do get a transplant? I'd probably be bringing someone with me cause if I figure if I'm already getting a hotel room + a flight, adding another flight to bring someone with me would just be pocket change. What kind of measures can I take to protect/hide my scalp once I get a transplant? I would want to wear something to at least cover my scalp cause if I'm going to a restaurant, I'd prefer not to look like I have a bunch of holes in my head. How would I balance going on vacation with the fact that I probably got a transplant a couple days ago? Also, just wondering if anyone else has planned a vacation around a hair transplant? Or is this something impractical?
  7. I haven't had a transplant yet but I'm not the type to get depressed so something like that never even crossed my mind. I think the most important thing is just to not worry about what you can't change and only worry about what you can change... And do that to the best of your ability. Plus, I can't imagine being depressed post transplant. It must be super exciting waiting for new growth to appear and to finally move past your hair loss
  8. Those prices are all Bay Area/ultra high CoL prices. Like if you're in NY/SF, yeah $8/graft sounds about right. But I looked up a random recommended doc from a lower CoL place (South Carolina), and the prices are closer to $4/$5 per graft FUE https://carolinahairsurgery.com/hair-transplant-costs/
  9. Really? No meds? Wow. Did the doctors say you had no foreseeable loss?
  10. I think you should wait until summer starts next year if you're a teacher. Heal up for a couple months and hopefully even get through a decent chunk of the ugly duckling phase
  11. Yeah I take that back. I just looked again, it's $8 for FUE in LA/Bay area.
  12. I believe H & W is $4 per graft past 2k grafts for FUT. And that's H & W. If we're talking some clinic in the middle of Idaho with a lesser known recommended doc, then I can easily see $4. I see doctors from LA/Bay area offering $6 per graft FUE, so $4 seems pretty good for a lower end edit: H&W is $3 graft FUT past 2k
  13. That's Konior numbers lol. I'd cut that number in half so $4 to $7. Or maybe $4-$8 so you can include H&W in there. Though there are also travel reimbursements if you decide to travel for certain doctors.
  14. That's probably some combination of product and maybe Toppik for the red carpet event. I've used quite a few clays/waxes/styling creams and from my experience with these products they tend to add a bit of volume. Plus with a talented stylist and a blow dryer, that could potentially be achieved quite easily. Like with a clay, you're coating each individual strand of hair with it and then separating the strands to get extra volume. If the clay adds extra diameter by coating the outside of your hair follicle, then you end up seeing an increase in volume. Plus, blow dryers are fucking magic. I never used a blow dryer much but I was a big clay/wax/molding cream/whatever it's called kinda guy, and I'd definitely say it can make quite a difference
  15. Nice! Any sides with it? I don't think fin is for growing hair back anyway. Especially on the hairline. The regrowth is a bonus if anything
  16. I feel like all hair thins out with time. My grandpa was a NW1 at 85 but you could kinda see through it, not because of diffuse loss, but because of age related thinning. He had light skin and white hair so the contrast wasn't an issue either. I can understand that if you're 85, and you lose 50% density, you still have coverage due to the "illusion". But if you're 85, and you only have 50% density due to a hair transplant, and then you lose another 50% to age related thinning, then you're at 25% and you no longer have coverage. Is there any proof that transplanted hair thins out at a greater rate than non transplanted hair? I read a Carlos Wesley post about how if the donor has more than 25% miniaturization (or some number I forget), that they won't do a hair transplant. Which raises the question when there's say... 20% miniaturization or 15% miniaturization in the donor. Is the transplanted donor hair more subject to thinning than the non transplanted donor hair? Seems like even if you didn't do anything, your donors would thin out anyway. Dr. Bisanga mentioned the transplants thinning thing too in his interview. His great results from X amount of years ago have ended up only being good results when he sees them now.
  17. Let's just ignore the argument I had with foor for a second. He claims he wants to learn, but when posters suggest where to find resources, provides links and recommends that he search and find resources for himself, he starts acting like a petulant child. This guy came out with a terrible attitude off the bat. To the first poster who recommended he do a search, he acted sarcastic and passive aggressive. He was ungrateful for the search suggestion and demanded links as if the first poster was to do the leg work for him. Next, the guy who typed Lol in response to this topic. Not really constructive but again, foor came out swinging by calling him a balding loser. Is he really trying to learn when this entire thread is just a case of him flaming users and acting like a child? Even in our situation, he just couldn't handle being called out for being ungrateful/passive aggressive and flipped out. Even if my comment was uncalled for, the difference in responses is quite pronounced. I don't think this forum has any place for someone who suffers a mental meltdown when someone points out he's acting passive aggressive. It's not reddit/4chan. If you're really trying to learn, you ask questions, be grateful when they're answered, and if things are unclear, you ask more questions. You don't ask questions, act passive aggressive/ungrateful/asinine when people don't do all the search work for you, and then start flaming people when they point out you're being ungrateful. Now he's trying to get me banned under the pretense of learning. This guy is just here to start crap. Anyway, I've pretty much set him to ignore since I don't really have time to deal with him trolling. But I think it's pretty obvious to anyone reads this topic as well as the users he's antagonized so far that the board is better off without him. If helpful comments such as suggesting the search or point him to a place to look gets passive aggressive comments and comments calling him out for being a douche get him flipping his shit... I really question what he can contribute to this forum.
  18. You're kind of a shit troll dude. Reported.
  19. Idk but having it longer on top would give you better coverage based on what I think I've seen melvin post. Whether 3k or 4k, I wouldnt know
  20. Actually, from what I hear, it's the opposite of what you're saying. You can disguise lower density with longer hair. With shorter hair it's just harder to hide the fact that you have less density
  21. 4000 grafts doesn't seem that crazy. Actually, 4000 seems perfectly reasonable since you're covering the front and midscalp. I've seen 4000 grafts used for much less lol. Yeah surgeons suggest different graft amounts but part of the estimate is the surgeons personal style. I actually had an estimate of 1200 and then an estimate of 3000 in my two consultations so far. Obviously, there is some amount that is probably calculated based off the area that needs to be covered. But the other part of the equation is just whether the doctor wants to be aggressive with density, whether they think you have future loss, whether they are willing to do larger sessions (i.e. megasessions), whether they think you should go for a followup transplant in the future, what kind of hairline/coverage they're going for, and whether they're concerned with preserving donor or going for a great result. My first doctor came off as super conservative. He wanted to transplant a fairly low density to give a "thinning" appearance. 1200 grafts was his estimate for the temples. My next consult suggested 3k. You can definitely talk down the doctor I feel. I've read of patients doing so by discussing with the doctor.
  22. You didn't ask for google assistant, but it's pretty clear you needed it dude. So go do your own leg work and look through some patient results. Anyone who spends 5 seconds looking through results would have found some diffuse thinners. If you don't know how to use the search function, go ask someone. Just don't come off as an unappreciative dick. Also, stop being a sarcastic/passive aggressive. Makes you come off as a douche.
