  1. Nice result and great scar. This patient needs to get a modern haircut that blends the top and sides better, he kind of looks like he has a toupee!
  2. Looking great orlhair thx for the update!
  3. Yo Mike settle down we are here to help. In the bad old days of transplants, surgeons would do exactly what you are hinting that your surgeon did: do just enough to get the patient to come back for a second and third procedure. I have to question why your Doc would put 1000 grafts into your mid scalp when you obviously need them up front, like you said, in your hairline. I am really surprised that even after insisting he work on your hairline he put them further back. That just doesn't make sense. Where did the first 2000 grafts go? Were they mid scalp also? Did you discuss having a Cesar style haircut where you just comb it forward? You might want to skip the gel as it makes thin hair look thinner and let it dry naturally. That might help and maybe those 1000 grafts will go a long way to getting you some better coverage. Good luck.
  4. Btw your staples came out on Day 2? I know Dr. K uses staples and sutures, can you explain how he closes if you remember?
  5. Wow Matt I just reviewed your before pics and other than your frontal third you were in pretty good shape to begin with. Those 4000 grafts are going make you look like a rock star and really look forward to watching your progress. Happy growing!
  6. I dated a woman one time who told me "you know, you'd be really good looking if you had more hair." I felt like saying "we'll you'd be really sweet if you weren't such a bitch." Some people just don't think before they speak. I think the woman you were with may have just been giving you a compliment and I would take it as just that and a testament to the good work you had done. We tend to think that women who say they'll never be attracted to a balding guy are shallow but I must admit that I would never be attracted to an over weight woman, so it just depends on personal preferences.
  7. Global warming creates better hair transplants? P.S. I get it, he thinks he invented the interweb. Btw Gore looks like he has had a very successful procedure.
  8. Sorry to hear about your reaction to the meds although it is quite common. Good luck growing those temple points look great.
  9. 500 grafts to fine tune a hairline or temple points is not unheard of, I think Dr. Feller calls it "lunch time fue" or something like that. Do your research Tom maybe a more thought out strategy would make sense.
  10. First off congrats on your procedure I am a huge SMG fan. I would call them right away as you may have something going on in your recipient area, and you have two weeks to get it to settle down a bit. I would just use some Toppik and maybe some type of makeup concealer in your hairline area to even out the redness. I'm not sure I agree with Spanker about telling your students about your transplant as in my mind it would be more awkward than just getting back into a routine and moving forward, but that's just me. If you feel you need to explain something you can always say it is folliculitis which is absolutely true and leave it at that. It may just well improve a lot over the next few weeks.
  11. If several surgeons have come up with the same opinion about your donor I would not tempt fate and keep looking until you found the one that says "yeah ok I will give it a try, why not?" as there are surgeons out there that will do just about anything. You say you want a little more density than you have, the challenge is that you have zero density at the moment. If you had a bald patch at 25 and it has progressed over the last 12 years it seems to me that Mother Nature has simply run its course with you and the dreaded DHT. I hope the blood tests put your mind at ease but nothing abrupt has happened and it sounds as if you realize that. Now if you have the means and the patience to go through with it, body and beard hair transplantation may be a way to go for you but in my mind that is always saved for "last case" type scenarios. You are bald now but if you go through with a surgery that depletes what donor you have you may end up looking quite odd and that is a life changing headache you do not want to deal with. There are many, many worse things in life than being bald! If you are in good health you are a lucky man. Best of luck.
  12. Congrats on your procedure. You are looking like everything is normal at this point, hope you heal up well!
  13. Looking good!! With your weight loss and new found hair you must have gone through quite a transformation. Congrats.
  14. Those 2800 grafts look like they went a looong way... looking very good from what I can see in your pics, I would have guessed that you had many more grafts than that. It is very common for men to have gray facial hair and retain most of their natural color on top of their head. IMO the reverse would look weird to me, that is if somebody had grey hair but had a dark beard. My friend do not think about adding some gray to that hair!!! I am blonde but my beard comes in blonde, gray, and red. Looking good man.
  15. It looks totally normal. Try and relax, if you continue second guessing things you will be an unhappy camper. Your hairline looks very similar to all of the other hairlines done by Dr. Ron and his brother, although I think Dr. Paul is even more aggressive in his use of micro-irregularities. Nothing here seems odd or out of the ordinary to me and I have been looking at SMG's hairlines for years. We've all seen that linear hairlines look like crap and look exactly like a bad transplant. Stan Lee of SpiderMan fame comes to mind as I just saw a picture of him at Comic Con here in Chicago.. he looks awful.
  16. Excellent plan for you, love the temple points!!! Grow well!!
  17. Great result. This patient probably popped back into the office and now that he has a great hairline he sure isn't shaving his head like in the before pic. I bet clinics are happy when patients come back regardless of whether or not they have the same haircut!
  18. Hey Dude congrats, you are nearing the end of the repair journey road. Throw away those frigging hats!! You are looking natural now and that's the name of the game for repair patients. I am really impressed by you donor area which is looking great, must be nice to keep it short and not worry about the back. Congrats and post some more pics a little down the line. What a relief it must be for you!! Dr. Umar was a God send for you fo sho.
  19. I'm fairly certain those "clusters" you are talking about are the "micro-irregularity" that is a signature of SMG's hairlines. Once it is grown in it looks very natural and a bit more uniform in it's irregularity if that makes sense. Perhaps doing some FUE on the spur of the moment towards the end of your procedure was not possible for a number of reasons, I can understand how you might have been disappointed. Good luck growing I'll bet that in a years time you'll be very happy.
  20. You had staples and stitches at the same time? I've never heard of that before tell us about that.
  21. Ha classic!! If that is real it is surely the most interesting head carving in the world...
