  1. That's great to hear. Kudos to the doctor in helping a repair patient. I'm a big advocate For those that especially undergo repairs. It's an issue very important to me. Thanks for doing this case pro bono doctor.
  2. So sorry to hear that. I know a lot of folks that went through similar nightmares. Hopefully you can move forward. I just can't understand why some docs can do such a thing. Just know there are folks in similar situations and I hope all can find peace. Best of luck to you.
  3. There are a couple clinics that do not adhere to patient safety and ethics leading to disasterous FUE. Dr Lindsey points out important things and one should take note. Be wary of flawless FUE results that are clinic or rep posted and review them carefully. It's important to see actual patients up close if you decide to get a procedure. Be cautious of cheerleaders as well as they may have incentives offered or discussed. You do not want to end up with permanent issues in the long run. (Ex: scar tissues, over harvesting, low yields, loss of grafts, etc) FUE has to be done with meticulous care and proper surgical protocols. Some docs should do things ethically.
  4. Surgeon to trust? That would be the one that does all surgical aspects of FUE surgery with a very safe FUE protocol for their patients. Be very careful and research thoroughly. Best of luck.
  5. Nice and spread extraction pattern. Looks like great FUE yield considering the number of grafts used in between native hair zones. That patient must be thrilled.
  6. Kudos to Dr Wesley for doing this complex repair. It is great seeing life changing cases and doctors doing pro bono cases once in a while. There are docs that may not even take on such repair cases as is because they may not be confident. Seeing how good this case turned out speaks volumes. Thank you for helping this young kid out and taking him on pro bono. Definitely deserve a standing ovation for this remarkable transformation. I am big on trying to help folks with repairs and seeing you make a difference for this kid, really makes my day. Great job!
  7. Concur that the temple peaks look unnatural. Hopefully, the doc does you right by helping you get it fixed. I hope the mods can elicit a response on your behalf. Wouldn't extracting grafts cause further damage? Can they be lasered instead?
  8. I think you will have somewhat of an answer if you request the surgical consent forms from each of those five doctors and see if anywhere it says permanent numbness can occur and you have to initial such an item or Emil them to see if it is a possibility. If they have that clause on their paperwork then it may even be a concern at a top notch clinic. I've actually spoken to a few folks that still have some tingling/pains or numbness 2+ years on. Not many, but there are some. Also know someone that had had issues 5 + years and needs some special creams to reduce some pain. But temporary numbness does exist and may last a few months in general. What's your hair loss pattern like? Are you trying to cover the entire top of head or is the hair loss in a certain area?
  9. Are you paying a surgeon to do your surgery or a robot? I'd take surgeon extractions above anything a non surgeon can control. If you are looking for FUE, go to a FUE expert with a strong track record and even a repair record. Good luck.
  10. Anything is possible in expert hands. Depends on what you want , what you are willing to use, what you are willing to pay. Few docs are able to extract bears and chest hairs successfully. You may want to get an expert consultation from docs that work with cases like yours and with FUE. Dr Sanusi Umar in California may be able to give you an assessment. Where would you like your hairline to be? How dense are you looking for? Are you on any meds? Whatever case may be, research hard before you get surgery or, if you can live with your head shaved, it may be the best choice. Because, in your case, you are looking at multiple procedures spread out. It is not a one hair transplant and done scenario. You may need a few surgeries. There is a lot of downtime and post op care involved. If you are willing to go through with it, only then should you consider surgery as an option imo. Good luck with everything
  11. Best of luck and happy growing! Please do continue to update. Looks like clean work
  12. Oh these things are likely after the procedure for a few months but for some folks it can be permanent. No one can really give odds on these things because many doctors do not reveal the number of cases of theirs this has happened to. Some Docs and reps/experts can blame a patients physiology for it or it could be the surgical protocol of the doc that caused the condition. Nerves cut wrong or scalp too tight or excessive bleeding and etc, anything can be a factor. Depends on what type of procedure you go for and the doc you go to for that specific procedure. If a doc is good at FUT and hasn't reported many screw ups online then Maybe the probability is better but again no guarantee. Same goes for a doc that does FUE, his or her surgical protocol should be all about patient safety. I'd take a look at real patients that have no treatment incentives or financial incentives and see them in person. No patients getting future freebies or discounts or online posting perks or anything or reps to sway your decision. This is a very serious procedure and you have to do very solid research. See if you can meet real patients that are willing to meet in person. Do not risk yourself with a doc that is unsure if they will be able to deliver or lack confidence.
  13. How does it look now? Esp that side highlighted earlier. Hope all is on track
  14. Everybody heals differently and every doc has their own advice. Considering it is a big investment, maybe 3 months would be a safe timeframe. You do not want to risk any issues, esp fungal infections like ringworm or other issues by getting haircuts. Some docs dont even recommend hair dye for quite some time. Its always better to becsafe then sorry. Good luck
  15. I wouldnt take it out either as it could make things worse. You can see if a doc can make it look softer with laser or use nape hairs to smooth it out.
  16. Drew, you may have to go towards LA area to find some surgeons. What type if hairloss do you have? The front or crown? Is it extensive or minor? That helps provide better recommendations.
  17. Regulators and medical bodies are realizing what needs to be Done for patient safety. More and more regulators are enforcing such guidelines for patient safety. Other states are following and making it well known. Patients and documentation may have been helpful. Elective surgery or not, safety is paramount, esp when you are dealing with limited donor resources. I am wondering, has ISHRS had any surgeons that do that type of thing or possibly still do? That's why letter is kind of confusing. If that's the case, will such surgeons still hold membership? Because such medical regulations/laws supercede everything else regardless of any disclaimers.
  18. Very impressive. Considering some folks may have had over 4000 grafts and still cant get such a result. Very smart use of grafts. On a 3200 graft non repair patient, this is great work. The guy doesnt have to worry about ridging or pitting or raised recipient zone bumps, nothing. He looks good. Kudos to the doc. I think you planned this well and really considered the safety of this patient.
  19. Dr Konior seems to design some fantastic hairlines. I like the fact he does most of the critical aspects of the work himself. Looks like clean work and I cant wait to see it grown out in the months ahead. Thanks for sharing your progress.
  20. I think if you have recessed temple points and have the grafts to have them addressed, then it is ideal to have them done. They have to be done right and be wary of the doctor using a thick eyeliner to trace you a design. They may deliberately confuse you to the actual placement and angle by drawing a very thick line. Id say 350-400 grafts would define those temples. Not all docs can master the temples, this includes some recommended ones. Very few can nail it and create properly defined ones. Look at doctors that are extremely good at facial framing, esp those that are successful on larger cases. Good Luck.
  21. I didn't know about the $250 consult fee. I agree, it is wise to get tons of consults. Rarely, do i hear of fees, most are free, some may charge $50 but some charging $250 or more is damaging. Free consults help you maximize opinions and that is important. but $250 is a lot to shell when the competitor offers it for free. Most surgeons give 30 min to an hour for a free consult, some more.
