  1. Thanks for the very clear and concise responses. I feel a bit better now and I know a little more what to expect over the next few months!
  2. Hi, all. I joined the forum last year and thanks to all the help and advice I went forward and got my xplant on 1/16/2017. I ended up going with Dr. Dorin and he was great. I would fully recommend him to anyone on the site considering this procedure. He was the ultimate professional both with the medical and financial aspects of my work. The procedure went very smoothly and quickly without incident of any sort. He was straightforward in his pricing and with the expectations for the final outcome of the surgery. I got 1563 grafts done all on the front half of my scalp. There were no apparent complications, as I was told at my 3 month follow up. Healing went quite well. My scalp only stayed pink for about a month, which as far as I know is quite good, compared to the average/median results of such a procedure both nationwide and in this community. After 3 weeks, the newly xplanted hair did fall out, as I expected, again thanks to advice from those on this forum. I also know it may take some time for the hair to start growing. We're pushing 5 months and no new hair yet. Still not panicking, but do have a question or two. I know it could take up to a year to see results. That being said.. *when* I do (LOL) I have two questions that I am not clear on. 1. For you guys that have already had this done, when the hair started growing in, did the individual hairs at first grow in thin, then get thicker over each natural hair shedding phase, or did they grow in at their normal, final state, thickness? 2. Did you notice all the hairs start to grow about the same time, or did you see a variation between different physical areas of your scalp? I'm just curious, b/c overall, I am happy so far. Even if, bite my tongue, this doesn't work, my hair currently looks no worse than it did before, so that fear has been addressed. There were no complications, so I still have a positive outlook overall that I will be satisfied a year from now. Probably just getting a little impatient. Thanks for any help/advice in advance.
  3. I saw some work done by Neograft recently when I went for a consultation with a doctor in my area who did that. It wasn't bad...but it wasn't great either. Nothing to be embarrassed about, but I noticed it looked a bit sparse. Now I have no idea what the man had done, but if I had the hair he had, I'd be happy. I declined to book with this doctor, mostly because it was just a tech flying in and the actual plastic surgeon would not be involved. But honestly, not bad. It was about 65% of the price of the NYC doctors, and IMHO, he got what he paid for.
  4. Well for now, I called Dr. Dorin's office and there was no consult fee (that I know of...LOL). Thanks for all the input! Much appreciated.
  5. crankyhair, Was there a $250 fee to set up a consult when you went to Dr. Wesley? I called today and they wanted a $250 fee, only refundable, as far as I understood, if I chose Dr. Wesley to do my HT.
  6. Considering him for a consult. Anything to share positive or negative?
  7. I am new to the forum, so I have yet to post any pics, etc. with regards to my profile. Coming soon. I am 46yo M finally going to do something about hair loss. I have already consulted with one plastic surgery group, but decided against them for a number of reasons. But I did get some useful info. I would most likely need around 2000 grafts. I have been reading a good number of the posts here for the past few evenings, so I have a general idea who is recommended in the NYC area (officially and by members). I have done some research on their individual websites and am comfortable with their skill levels on the whole. I also pretty much get the advantages of the FUT vs. FUE methods. I have one concern, however, and I hoping maybe someone here can help me save a bit of time in deciding which doctor to get a consult with in NYC area. I really am not comfortable with having the linear scar on the back of my head. The aforementioned head has an odd shape and really only looks good with the back quite short (1/8" or 2 on most clippers). From the reading I have done here, it seems that most of the recommended docs prefer doing FUTs for a number of reasons. That being said, I have tried for months to convince myself I would be okay with the scar. Not happening. No judgement to those that chose it, just personal preference for the aforementioned reason. That being said, I am hoping someone can recommend a doc, or docs, that would be most open to the FUE in NYC area... or am I foolish for wanting FUE and maybe should just scrap the whole idea??? Thank you in advance for all opinions. Brutal honesty okay, too...
