  1. i think if you put a side by side comparison of your before and after photos, you'd also see and appreciate the cosmetic improvement. I too like the creation of the hairline and filling in midscalp. You elect to wear your hair short so its not as dramatic a result, but definitely nice coverage. I would be extremely happy if I had your result! But best of luck with whatever you want to achieve!
  2. his hairline is ideal and he doesn't look like he's got any hair loss at all on top, so don't really know what he needed to correct??
  3. there's always some hope to have a better head of hair than what you have, but if you have extensive hair loss, your expectations need to be realistic. So for example, i'm a NW 5-6 like you, I'm going for a HT to recreate a very conservative hairline and to add some density behind it up to the mid-scalp. This will frame my face and definitely give me a much better improved look from my current condition. I think you need to have a similar outlook, ie. you will never have a full, dense head of hair, but you can improve your look with today's modern HT's. Best of luck to you ..
  4. congrats, the work looks really refined and I like the fact that you decided to stay conservative and within your existing hairline, I think it will make your end result look so much better and natural, best wishes

I say you have nothing to worry about, they look absolutely natural in their isolated position like many people have without HT's.
  6. I too had a smaller FUT procedure to my hairline when I shouldn't have (in my mid 20's). So I have a small scar at the lower portion of the back of my head or above the nape of my neck. I'm in my mid 40's now and have had some extensive hair loss since that original procedure. I'm looking to do some corrective work to give me a more natural hairline and just merely add some coverage & density behind the hairline. I'm not looking for miracles and I don't expect a full head of hair, but I'm not going to fall into the same old routine of FUT. I don't want another significant scar from ear to ear just because I have a smaller one from my prior procedure. Today, good FUE docs can guarantee 90-100% regrowth rate, which is essentially the same as FUT. People talk about the extra expense - yes it may be a factor for some, but its not for me, and I think it's worth every penny if you put value in it. I have a FUE procedure scheduled with Dr. Rahal in September of this year. I know he's not typically mentioned as one of this forum's guru of the FUE procedure like some other more recognized docs, but he's demonstrated some great results nonetheless. I agree with many other comments on this thread that FUE is the superior and preferred method by those docs that have perfected their craft in this procedure.
  7. I think you are over-reacting way too soon after a procedure. Of course you don't look great immediately or several days, weeks or even months post op. Let your scalp heal, let the scabs fall off. Maybe cut your existing native hair to look more even? But don't loose hope. You've undergone a traumatic experience to your scalp, you need some time to heal. Afterwards, do the assessment and determine if you need additional work, a repair, etc.
  8. I've read the general consensus is that grafts are not permanently secure until after the 10th day after a HT.
  9. Sorry to hear about your bad result. I don't know who you are currently consulting with for the repair, but I would suggest seeing more than one "recommended" top HT doctors here, there are quite a few and you may have to travel outside of Texas, but I think it will be worthwhile. You have a nice head of existing hair so you will definitely be fine in the hands of a competent surgeon. See repair results from doctors Konior, Rahal, Feller, Hasson & Wong, just to name a few. The best of luck to you.
  10. You have a beautiful head of hair that some of us only dream we could have! Your 4.5 mo progress looks amazing and of course it will continue to get better for you. You had a procedure with one of the best doctors in the field! Don't worry so much and enjoy your progression.
  11. have there any been any reputable docs or HT clinics in Iran recommended in this forum either for FUT or FUE? isn't that the basic question??
  12. can I ask how long of a procedure was 2500 FUE with Dr Rahal, I understand he uses the ARTAS robot for extraction of the grafts, what was the hardest part of the procedure? thanks
  13. I think all the reps from the reputable doctors and clinics provide excellent feedback on this forum - they are the very reason forums like this exist - they've shared their experience, knowledge and expertise so that we can navigate through the minefield. I am very appreciative of what this community has grown and developed into, support for all hair loss sufferers looking for viable options and answers. This would not be possible without the client reps. Thank you.
  14. Riddick, I know its easier said than done, but looking at your photos, I think you look fine and could go to work without a hat. You have some decent coverage on top, your scar is healing nicely, someone would have to literally stare at the back of your head to notice it. Within the next 2 months you will only start looking better - slowly and progressively - where no one will even notice all at once. I wish you the best, you chose a great doctor (I have my procedure scheduled with Rahal in Sept) so your end result should be impressive.
  15. very nice coverage, natural looking, big improvement from pre-ht, you should be very pleased!
  16. really good discussion and dialogue guys! I'm always interested in the psychological, emotional aspect of hair loss, as I know its affected me in both areas. For me, its not so much a vanity issue as it is trying to be satisfied and accepting of my own appearance. Getting older sucks for all of us, but I guess I'd like to gracefully get there and accepting being full blown bald is not agreeable with me especially when there are proven methods available to us to help stem or correct the situation. I never will nor do I want a full head of hair, I'm beyond that urge and age, but I think I can look slightly better than I do - so I opt to do so because as many as you have said, I also have the financial where with all to do it. It is a difficult and complex thing to dissect, but hair loss is a difficult thing to deal with for any person, I don't care who you are. Its by the grace of God that we deal with it and accept what we can do in our own way. I also thank God for these forums, these wonderful doctors who have spent a lifetime perfecting what they do, and for the countless patients who share their experiences with us so that we can judge and make our own independent decisions. I'm grateful for you all!

big improvement, totally natural looking, and certainly more improvement to come, congrats!
  18. I'm happy to read your post Sbarnett! I was a young 20 something who did not have the same experience as you when I went to a HT doctor. They took my $$ and did a rather small procedure on me, but looking back on the whole experience, it was totally unethical. I should have gotten the same consultation and advice that you got from Dr. Gabel. I was way too young and my hair loss was at such an early stage there would have been no way for the doctor to know how it was going to progress. Anyway, I'm glad to see there are good docs out there who are both morally and ethically on the patients' side.
  19. hi, i'm having my procedure done on jan 7th and i'm staying at the brookline, it's a guest house for rahal patients only, i've only heard good things about it from other patients so i decided to book there for several days, i don't believe there is anyone looking after you 24/7 at the guesthouse, you do have quick access to rahal's office which is only about 2 blocks away for checkups, cleaning, etc. Essentially the guesthouse has all the amenities you would need for the first few days after a HT, like a reclining chair to rest, etc. I believe their website is :Brookline Guesthouse - About Us. Also I don't think you can get a better deal on the cost basis. But totally up to you. Best of luck.
  20. From all I've read - all doctors concede that the grafts are not permanent and can be damaged or dislodged the first 10 days after a HT - therefore the 2 week waiting period to not wash your head under a shower is not only reasonable but medically necessary
  21. we all go to a specific doctor for a reason, their method ... follow your doctor's instructions ..
