  1. Not very many FUE results, but thank you. Also, it seems like everyone goes really aggressive with their norwood pattern. NW1 or 1.5 - In almost all hairline cases a U shaped pattern seems to be used, along with some thickening in the mid-scalp in some cases. I am not pursuing a NW1, or 2 - a 2.5 will do just great! I am completely opposed to moving my hairline forward with a U shaped procedure. I want to keep my shape, but broaden, and reinforce the base of my forelock. Drop the corners - slightly. Reinforce existing hairline. All of this takes place where I have existing hair - except for perhaps 3cm squared on both corners. I guess everyone wants a NW1 or 1.5? My gut tells me to go a lower norwood, but be a solid 2.5 instead of risking a diffused 1, 1.5, or 2. I don't see anything like that out there. I am 38, I will rock a Christian Slater, Gary Oldman, Daniel Craig with a giant smile on my face all day long!
  2. If I were to say that North America was my only option. Who is in the FUE discussion? I could possibly afford traveling to Europe, but it might not be the best idea - financially. Also, I am going at this alone. The flights to, and from Europe, and knowing how far away I am from my home - various factors at play here, but psychologically going to Europe feels far more difficult to me than N. America. I live in the US. I don't think I can do it Europe. I want to go conservative. I only want to get back to a NW2.5. Reinforce existing hairline, drop corners slightly, and reinforce the bridge (behind the forelock). I feel like this play into my favor for a good outcome, because it poses the least risk. I don't want to put hairs on 100% bald head, and create a brand new hairline. I guess what I am saying is that I feel like this procedure can be done well by several great surgeons. I am hoping one of them is N. America!
  3. Guys - what is the consensus on Dr. Rahal's FUE results? I know he is a hairline master, and FUT master, but...do his FUE results compare with 2014/2013s top FUE guys? I scheduled with him in June. I need some feedback. I am a NW3 looking to go back to a NW 2.5 with 2000 grafts (Dr. Rahals recommendation). Some pics attached. Talk to me! Thanks in advance.
  4. Look at what I have in mind. Minimal as minimal can be. In addition to the areas in the 2 pics I would like some reinforcement behind my forelock. That's it. 2000-2500 still?
  5. Is it a good idea to try to convince the surgeon you need less than what he recommends (2000 grafts)? I would like to do less than 1500 for several reasons. Less invasive, hopefully less trauma to the head, and therefore recovery is quicker, and less noticeable. I want to be discreet, and take the least amount of risk possible. I am nervous. I want the surgery to be as minimal as humanly possible. Thoughts?
  6. So, I[m officially scheduled with Dr. Rahal May 28th - he estimated 2000 grafts, but I am hoping it gets knocked down to 1500-1800 at the hairline consultation pre-op. Im good with a Daniel Craig, or Gary Oldman look! Scared as shit! Excited too.
  7. Spanker mentioned 3 options: 1. reinforce the area behind the hairline only and do nothing else 2. Reinforce your hairline and drop your corners while adding hair to the bridge 3. Dropping the corners a bit, reinforcing the bridge and outer portion of the hairline Which of these would be the most conservative option? #1 right? I really want as little work as possible done, but I also want a solid result. My original thoughts were to reinforce the bridge, and reinforce the hairline, and area behind the hairline. This would leave me at a norwood 2.5 / 3, but solid. I have attached another picture of my hair wet, and I put lines where I want my hairline, and circled the area I want reinforced. This might help ya'll give me better advice. Thanks again guys - you guys rock!
  8. Dropping the corners a bit, reinforcing the bridge and outer portion of the hairline is exactly what I had in mind. Would 1500 grafts do the trick, or do you think I could get away with less?
  9. Thank you for all your replies. I am concerned about the bridge area behind my forelock. I would definitely like to have that area reinforced - it needs it. I would also like to fill in my temple corners a bit. I don't really want to alter my hairline dramatically, but just reinforce it. As subtle as possible. I have had this same hairline for almost 10 years, so it seems my corners are hanging tough. Spanker can you elaborate on my "options"?
  10. I am a LONG time lurker on these forums, but this is my first post. I would like to start by thanking all of you for the life changing advice, and support that this forum, and others have provided me with. I started suffering from MPB in my early 20s. I got on propecia in my late 20s. I started rogaine, and nizoral shampoo about two years ago. I have stabilized my hair loss at a NW3 ish - I am 38 now. Even though my hair loss is stable, I stopped it at a weird place. I basically have one style option - comb forward. I have been doing this since my 20s. I am ready to do something about it! I am interested in FUE, and I would like to go as conservative as possible. I have no problem with a mature hairline. I would be happy with a full NW3, or a NW 2.5 (a la Steve Nash). I want to do the minimum number of grafts I can get away with. I am aware of many of the leading HT surgeons, but I want ya'lls opinion, and advice. Please view my photographs. All advice / recommendations will be valued, and greatly appreciated. Money is not an issue, but I would prefer to stay in the USA for the procedure. I am only interested in FUE. Thank you in advance for your advice. Sincerely, Your brother in the battle.
