What’s Your Dad’s Norwood and Your Own?

Interesting we always hear guys say, my dad isn’t bald, as a way to stay in denial. I thought it would be interesting to know  what your dads level is and your own.

I’ll start my dad’s Norwood II at 63 and I’m Norwood VI at 35.

My dad is 73 with NW6.5

If I hadn't a HT I would be NW4, but at my age my dad was NW5, though my younger brother by 6 years is NW4.5 - 5, at his age I was NW2.5 - 3.

My own father was in his 90s and remained a Norwood 0 his whole life. Where as I was a Norwood 6 by my 30s !

We’re in the same boat, except my dad has minor recession. Still, he’s in the 90th percentile of men his age, and he doesn’t have a single grey hair.

hasn't lost a hair at 62. I started minoxidil at 16. Bit annoying really!

2,000 grafts FUT Dr. Feller, July 27th 2012. 23 years old at the time. Excellent result. Need crown sorted eventually but concealer works well for now.

Propecia and minoxidil since 2010. Fine for 8 years - bad sides after switching to Aindeem in 2018.

Switched to topical fin/minox combo from Minoxidil Max in October 2020, along with dermarolling 1x a week.

Wrote a book for newbies called Beating Hair Loss, available on Amazon

Genetics really piss me off sometimes. I’m literally the only one in my entire family with hair loss. My dad’s uncle was a Norwood 6, he’s where I got it from.

NW5.75 at 68.  He was a solid NW3 until slow deterioration between age 40-60.  Hair type is Fine.  I inherited mother's coarse hair, not his.

Her Dad who passed before I was born was a NW5 to early 70s.

Dad's dad was at least a NW6 up to age 84.  He would totally bic-it so difficult to tell, and passed away 32 years ago.

Brother is a NW3 at age 44 but with a bit of a sh1tty hairline developing.

I inherited coarse hair from god knows who, my father has some of the finest hair I’ve ever seen, and my mother is on the finer side. My sisters hair thickness and density is insane. She could probably fill my entire head, and it wouldn’t make a dent on her density. My brother is 43 and his hair characteristics are very similar to mine.

I actually searched to get an accurate comparison at the same age:

Me - NW2 at 35

Dad - NW1 at 35.  NW2.5 currently (55)

Mom's dad - NW3 at 35.  NW5 currently (75)

Dad's dad - The wildcard, died at 33 and cannot determine hair status as his hair was always buzzed

What about his uncles? Or your uncles?

Damn we’re the same bro, I remember my dad telling me it was stress. There’s no way I could be going bald, cause he’s not bald and my older brother wasn’t balding at all. Mother nature is ruthless.
