Its been nearly 9 months since those 5k grafts were planted in my bonce. I decided to get a new hairstyle that would hopefully enhance the growth so far....I think I've achieved a solid mid-life crisis look!

I've attached a link to my website so you can see where I've come from.

Hair Restoration Site for Johnny B

My honest opinions:

HT

The procedure was long but considering that, it was not painful or overly uncomfortable...My backside was suitably numb!

The swelling was pretty bad and the first couple of weeks being careful was a nightmare.

The shedding was harrowing.

The growth was slow and so frustrating.

The new style makes the hair look dramatically thicker than it is but definitely looks so much better than pre-op. The right middle area is thinner than the rest, the (top) image highlights this if you look closely but the style hides it well. Whether that is down to it only being 9 months and it needs more maturation or that some didn't take....time will tell.

I should evaluate at 12 months to give it a fair chance

Am I happy? Yes, most certainly I am

H&W

I cannot fault them for answering my questions or concerns. Joe has said that I should give it another 3 months before making any judgements and considers my progress as quite good. I'm sure that H&W will help me consider my options at the final post. I would consider a further procedure with them if I needed it without question. I would also recommend that those considering a HT put them in the list of top contenders for the job.

All the very best to you all!

Johnny,

Thank you for sharing these updates with the community and congratulations on hitting the (almost) 9 month mark. In my opinion, your hair looks phenomenal, and I would have never guessed you were suffering any significant type of hair loss had I simply met you on the street one day. A definite testament to Dr. Hasson's work. Again, congratulations and I hope you achieved what you were looking for!

Cheers guys

Yes, it lives up to my expectations....actually it lives up to what I wished for! I have definately achieved what I wanted from my HT, I am a (40 year old) beach bum again!

Until I grew my hair and added the colour/style that I now have, I didn't realize how much hair I really had. There may be weaker areas but you can't really see them and that's what its really all about. Until you really look at websites like these and patient's results, you do not realize that the illusion of a full head of hair or minimal hair loss is so hard to achieve. I will continue to grow it until someone tells me I'm too old for the Seattle look.

When you realize the task faced by a surgeon and his/her team is to completely remove grafts and redistribute them without them being severely harmed or destroyed, it highlights just how far things have come. Then you start thinking about how they are placed and hiding the evidence of a HT, it really does bring home the skills of surgeon such as Dr Hasson and others in the coalition.

To read the positive effect it has on improving people's lives and how they feel about themselves is a good thing but to share it, is great.

Thanks again for your comments and views!

I will update again.

Here are some 11 month photos.

I've tried to give some varied ones...some daft.

My intentions were to show my HT in all lights for you to gauge the outcome. They do give a positive image of my HT but then that's how I want people to see me in everyday life...we all do. Whatever way you look at it, the result is a good one, as there is only so much you can do to get a positive angle to make you feel good....a photo cannot lie that much!.

I look at where I have come from and it does bring a smile to my face, something that I needed. It has been the toughest few years of my life. I don't want to go into it too much but I got the worst news you could ever get as a parent and it left me heartbroken. I wanted to do something for me, to put a smile on my face as I cope each day knowing the inevitable will come. Its so important that we all make the most of what we have and find some joy in our lives, its so important for those around us too.

I know I spent the money and went through the HT thing but when you see that HTs are such a mixed bag of results with no guarantees, I am glad I took the gamble with one of the finest clinics mentioned on this site.

Thanks to Jo, Dr Hasson and all of the guys at H&W

Johnny,

Wow man, your hair looks incredible !

Would you mind telling me how long your hair length is in these photos ?

And are the hairline hairs in the front the same length as the hairs behind it ?

It looks to be at least 2 & 1/2" to 3" long to me. I think I'm going to grow mine out like yours and try a similar style, so that's why I am asking.

You're probably about right on the length. I kept it clippered to a number 3 and then just grew it over 3-4 months with the cut or two in between to put it into the style. Its shorter at the back bit pretty consistant with the length. A bit of blonde, straighteners (ashamed to admit that bit) and a tiny bit of water based wax. My hair is coarse and wavy and the longer it gets, the easier it is to hide any weaknesses.

Darren

I've been taking 2.5mg fin EOD since Dec 2009 and use Nizoral EOD for 2 on 1 off. I had none in the crown as my hairloss was at the front/temple/mid scalp area. I don't know the rules on posting costs but if you look at my site ( circa 5k grafts) and go on the H&W site, you can work it out easy enough. Needless to say, it was a lot of money and the travelling half way across the world is trek. I decided to go with H&W as I hoped for a one pass and their results seemed great for megasessions. I don't know my % yield that grew but it was enough to give the impression of a full head of hair with the right style.

I'm happy with the results and if/when the top up is needed,I'll go with them as long as they haven't retired :)

Is it clever styling or has that small thin spot you had at 9 months in the front completely filled in now?

Thanks for all the comments guys.

Bonkerstoker, there still are slightly weaker areas but they may be related to my native hair at the top and interestingly it itches in that area and some other areas quite a bit (especially my scar!). I still think some of my native hair upped sticks and ran off but I'm 6ft 4in and hopefully it'll be while before it gets worse enough for a fellow giant to see...over to the big three to keep it there.

It was a big session and 100% yield just ain't gonna happen but what has grown has given me more than enough to play with in most styles. If it is cut short then I suppose this may expose some weaker points but at this length, it allows more textures which thicken the overall look. After looking at many many results over the years, I can consider myself one of the lucky ones.

A couple of extras wet look and one with a harsh flash

Just a quick one as I've updated my journal and I'm probably old news by now.

I'm nearly at 2 years and I'm on my way to having the long hair I wanted. I've posted some bad hair cut ones and some dampish ones after I'd towel dried it and tied back (of sorts).

18 months...

Hair Restoration Journal -18 months

Nearly 2 years...

Hair Restoration Journal -Nearly 2 years

Needless to say, I'm as happy as a pig in brown stuff so although it was a decent investment, thanks Dr Hasson, Joe and all the guys at H&W. What a beautiful city you have in Vancouver, just a damn shame I live in the UK as I'd pop by and drop in....one day maybe :)

If you guys hit the UK let me know.
