I began losing hair in my early 30s. My first treatment was Rogaine which worked well to thicken and cover my thinning crown. The effects diminished over time, although I still use Rogaine and believe it has helped in retaining more of my native hair over the years. I have contemplated a transplant for a few years, but was always very skeptical because of all of the bad publicity. About a year or so ago I got more serious about it and did a lot of research. I also started taking Fin 1.25mg/day in Feb. 2011. I decided to have a transplant with Dr. Ron Shapiro. I considered several top surgeons on this site and the choice can be hard because there are several great ones. I am extremely pleased with my choice. Everyone at SMG is fantastic.

June 14, 2011, surgery. Strip size: 1.5cm width x 27.5 cm length. Vitrase was used in the donor before excision to increase laxity. ACell wound strips were used in the donor closure and ACell fine particles for the graft follicles.

Could not be happier with my experience with Dr. Ron Shapiro and his staff. Optimistic the results will meet my expectations. Will update as I grow! Dr. Ron Shapiro and the entire staff at SMG are fantastic. They made me feel like I was the most important patient they had, answered all of my questions and made sure I had a comfortable experience. It was a very long day but I actually had fun getting to know the people who were working on me. Everyone obviously likes working there which says a lot. Dr. Ron makes sure you understand every step of the way and makes sure that he answers all of your questions and that you are comfortable with everything that is going to happen. He is very involved throughout the day. His brother Paul stopped in a couple of times as well. I could not be happier with my experience there. I am at day 4 and recovery is going great. I will update after I begin to grow with photos and additional comments. Thanks to everyone at SMG for making me feel special and for making me feel so comfortable.

5 Month Update: Very satisfied and excited about my results already. The transformation over the last five months has been amazing. I can't say enough positive things about SMG and Dr. Ron.
