  1. Just a quick one as I've updated my journal and I'm probably old news by now. I'm nearly at 2 years and I'm on my way to having the long hair I wanted. I've posted some bad hair cut ones and some dampish ones after I'd towel dried it and tied back (of sorts). 18 months... Hair Restoration Journal -18 months Nearly 2 years... Hair Restoration Journal -Nearly 2 years Needless to say, I'm as happy as a pig in brown stuff so although it was a decent investment, thanks Dr Hasson, Joe and all the guys at H&W. What a beautiful city you have in Vancouver, just a damn shame I live in the UK as I'd pop by and drop in....one day maybe If you guys hit the UK let me know.
  2. Bonkerstoker, UKPatient is right, leave it for a while. I got to 6-7 months and I was obsessing about my hair. It did me no favours, sometimes it looked like it was coming on and other times, failure. I got fed up with analysing the weaker areas. I tried to find a style to hide them and focused on the gym. I carried on taking photos but just left them on my camera. Its natural to do what we do as it means so much to us. Your progress is so similar to mine at this point and by the time I looked back at 9/10 months, I realised it had started to take off....I hope the same for you. I believe Jo is coming to London in April so I'm gonna travel down that way and meet up...by which time, you should have a solid mop of hair!!! Hair Restoration Journal -17 months (Nearly)
  3. Nice......what a transformation! Hair Restoration Journal -17 months (Nearly)
  4. Joe Looks like a great yield from the density clearly visible when running the comb through...I'd say better than mine at the front and I'm as happy as a pig in plop. He should grow it as with that wavy hair, it will look phenominal. Nice subtle finish on the temple areas and the mid section looks really solid. Hair Restoration Journal -17 months (Nearly)
  5. I still get it, only occasionally though but when I do, them space hoppers are sensitive
  6. Mine took a good 8 months and then it started filling in. Fingers crossed for ya
  7. I had a narrow escape with the Hospital Group and even lost ?500 deposit...I have absolutely no regrets thinking twice. Travelling half way across the world was a real pain in the a## but looking back, I'm glad I did even though there are some good clinics in Europe and the UK. As many have said before, do not let location dictate your HT and research research research...DO NOT RUSH IN! http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=1653
  8. Thanks for all the comments guys. Bonkerstoker, there still are slightly weaker areas but they may be related to my native hair at the top and interestingly it itches in that area and some other areas quite a bit (especially my scar!). I still think some of my native hair upped sticks and ran off but I'm 6ft 4in and hopefully it'll be while before it gets worse enough for a fellow giant to see...over to the big three to keep it there. It was a big session and 100% yield just ain't gonna happen but what has grown has given me more than enough to play with in most styles. If it is cut short then I suppose this may expose some weaker points but at this length, it allows more textures which thicken the overall look. After looking at many many results over the years, I can consider myself one of the lucky ones. A couple of extras wet look and one with a harsh flash
  9. Just thought I'd update after nearly 17 months...... Hair Restoration Journal -17 months (Nearly)
  10. There is no definate answer either way to this. Testosterone can affect healing both ways. However at 7 months, its unlikely to have a negative. Please noe that Test will elevate you DHT levels and this can/will thin your native hair. If you are an experienced AAS user then you will probably know this. You may wish to consider using finasteride as this may prevent up to 70% of the elevated test being converted to DHT. Depending on the dose, this may reduce DHT levels to an acceptable or even normal rate in your body. Read up on ester weights and half lifes. There is lots of info out there so search and read up. You will naturally make your own decision but arm youself with knowledge before taking the plunge my friend I'm not going to cast my opinion on your decision, you are your own man.
  11. Happy growing, looking forward to seeing how you get on!
  12. Dr Rahal, Hasson and Wong are all top notch. They are clearly at the top of their profession. All 3 produce regularly fantastic results. I'm not sure you could chose between them. I had mine done by Dr Hasson and I would recommend him as I'm very happy with my results but if I'm being objective, I would say they are all clearly very, very good at what they do.
  13. Just take a look at mine at 5 months, you aint got anything to worry about...it'll come!
  14. Products? Pretty much none my friend! God, I'm talking like a stylist and with my occupation!!! Wash hair, use a good conditioner to soften the hair. Blow Dry (Did I really say that, somebody slap me now!) with large gap comb (no pulling of hair). Grab the other half's GHD/Straighteners and straighten by section, until done. Get some water-based hair wax (oil based are crap as when you get hot, it gets curly!), and gently rub through the hair. The wax really makes the difference. Go for the messy look, with the two tone blond (shoeshine or foil depending on length) as this makes your hair porous and therefore thicker. None of it will get on your scalp so all's good. This will definately add density to any HT in all lights....a tip from the family stylist. I'm ashamed of myself
  15. What can you say, jaw droppingly awesome....your result is staggering! Enjoy it my friend, grow it long and get it blonde!!!! 18 again!
  16. The transformation is stunning. Good for you and it'll only strengthen from here on in....keep it long, man and enjoy it! Hair Restoration Site for Johnny B
  17. EpilepticSceptic You're probably about right on the length. I kept it clippered to a number 3 and then just grew it over 3-4 months with the cut or two in between to put it into the style. Its shorter at the back bit pretty consistant with the length. A bit of blonde, straighteners (ashamed to admit that bit) and a tiny bit of water based wax. My hair is coarse and wavy and the longer it gets, the easier it is to hide any weaknesses. Darren I've been taking 2.5mg fin EOD since Dec 2009 and use Nizoral EOD for 2 on 1 off. I had none in the crown as my hairloss was at the front/temple/mid scalp area. I don't know the rules on posting costs but if you look at my site ( circa 5k grafts) and go on the H&W site, you can work it out easy enough. Needless to say, it was a lot of money and the travelling half way across the world is trek. I decided to go with H&W as I hoped for a one pass and their results seemed great for megasessions. I don't know my % yield that grew but it was enough to give the impression of a full head of hair with the right style. I'm happy with the results and if/when the top up is needed,I'll go with them as long as they haven't retired
  18. Here are some 11 month photos. I've tried to give some varied ones...some daft. My intentions were to show my HT in all lights for you to gauge the outcome. They do give a positive image of my HT but then that's how I want people to see me in everyday life...we all do. Whatever way you look at it, the result is a good one, as there is only so much you can do to get a positive angle to make you feel good....a photo cannot lie that much!. I look at where I have come from and it does bring a smile to my face, something that I needed. It has been the toughest few years of my life. I don't want to go into it too much but I got the worst news you could ever get as a parent and it left me heartbroken. I wanted to do something for me, to put a smile on my face as I cope each day knowing the inevitable will come. Its so important that we all make the most of what we have and find some joy in our lives, its so important for those around us too. I know I spent the money and went through the HT thing but when you see that HTs are such a mixed bag of results with no guarantees, I am glad I took the gamble with one of the finest clinics mentioned on this site. Thanks to Jo, Dr Hasson and all of the guys at H&W Hair Restoration Site for Johnny B
  19. Great thread! I admire your honest opinions and real life experiences on what some view as a taboo subject. I'd agree that HGH wouldn't be detrimental to your hair although I suspect a slight increase in test may occur but not enough to elevate DHT levels significantly. I have low HGH levels and until recently, low test. Even now my test is the low end but as it is still just within range my endo leaves it alone. The thought of a small amount of HGH and test with my fin is appealing as I'm sure I would benefit health wise and especially cosmetically. However, I'm so keen to ensure I keep my DHT levels wiithin normal range that its only a thought at this point....I do not wish to lose any of my native hair. Bravo to you sir!
  20. I've looked at it again and it really does look good!!!
  21. You are happy which as we all say, is what matters. In reference to the style and lighting issue raised, you would also have to factor in that Lorenzo's highlights gave an artificial picture of where he started from preop. We all make our own judgements and in my opinion when you weigh all this up, I would say you are in a much better position than when you started from. Lorenzo, if you ever went back to the highlights, I suspect the improvement would look very significant indeed I'm interested in how Dr Hasson tackled the placement of the grafts working around your existing hairs. I guess shockloss would have been a potential issue for the type of loss you had. I didn't notice whether you took finasteride to help protect your native hair. As I said, it looks great and I'm glad you are happy. PS Don't be afraid of the faux hawk look Not that you need it now!
  22. Good luck with growth..... See how this turns out at the 12 month mark and take it from there. Keep those updates coming in.....
  23. To be honest... If you go the 2k on the "frontline" approach then cosmetically from the front you'll achieve a very decent look but you'll probably be looking for a 3rd HT to add density further back. If that is down to financial contraints then so be it. There may be an added benefit to a step by step approach in terms of a higher ratio yield so if you look at it that way then it could prove to be a good long term strategy. Also it can be a good way to assess things. You may be happy after your 2nd HT and save some for later on in your life. Try some fibre based product and experiment with ways of optimizing what you have now and after your 2nd HT. Whatever you choose, I wish you good luck
  24. Echo the 10 years younger comment. The new hairline looks great....a young Martin Kemp!!!! Its only going to look better from here in.
