youonlyliveonce, rcwest, maatj, spex, futurehtdoc....appreciate your positive feedback mattj - for a treatment of this size, we don't need to shave down the whole donor area and in this instance the patient wanted to return to a normal appearance/hair style as soon as possible....certainly if we are shooting for 1500 - 2000 grafts, this approach would not be possible i do want point out that i notice the phrase "low number of grafts" is used quite often it seems without taking into context the patient's profile and size of area to be treated - for this patient, 852 was the appropriate number for the zone of thinning for which he found bothersome and it did allow an easier transition post-op which was an important factor as well. youonlyliveonce - the density in the hairline zone is @ 35 fus/cm2 -OH

Recently saw this patient in follow-up. He had his procedure in July. Progress right on target if not slightly ahead of the game at this stage. Will update again in about 4 - 6 months. Patient had received treatment from an outside provider that unfortunately left him with a poorly managed donor area - the scar measured @ 13c mm at its widest. A typical ultra-refinded scar is @ .5 mm to 1 mm. Dr. Dorin removed the previous scar and utilized 623 follicular units from the revision strip to bolster density centrally and to the interior of the left hairline.

Dr. TRUE ---> 5A Revision Case
orangehair replied to orangehair's topic in Results Posted by Leading Hair Restoration Clinics
this was a very challenging case but well worth the effort - the patient is in such a better place - thanks for the comment hairthere -
This patient goes back a few years with us. Prior to our intervention, he had undergone a few treatments in the late 80’s & early 90’s with an outside provider that was using standard punch grafts and mini grafts at the time. As evidenced by the photos, his result was not natural, the hairline being pluggy and too vertical in orientation. He also had open donor areas as well as wide strip scars on the right and left sides. Dr. True initially did two mini-strip sessions - smaller due to the extensive scarring from the previous surgeries elsewhere. At the same time, FUE was used to to thin the punch grafts. 2708 grafts were place into the interior of the hairline and central front/top. Dr. True then made the necessary transition to pure FUE harvesting with focus on softening the hairline edge and adding to the forelock region. Hair was also added to the donor area to improve the strip scars from the treatments the patient had before us. Ultimately 2 FUE sessions totaling 1674 grafts were performed. Overall, @8300 hairs were transplanted to achieve a more acceptable and natural appearance for this patient.
