  1. Someone on hairlosstalk posted about his recent consultation with Dr. Zarev, procedure planned Dec 2021: https://www.hairlosstalk.com/interact/threads/zarev-march-2021-consultation-and-december-2021-operation.132413/ I recommended that he join this forum to post about it.
  2. Body hair transplant (beard/chest into the midscalp, or to replenish the donor). Good to plan as a backup in case you run out of scalp donor.
  3. Really depends on your donor capacity, predicted terminal NW pattern, whether you're willing to use BHT in the future, etc. Try consulting with multiple top surgeons to see what they say.
  4. Sorry to hear about your troubles Jim. I don't think it'll be too difficult to repair the issues you've mentioned though. Are you thinking of planning a repair anytime soon? Random question - some grafts were implanted into a mole on your scalp, right? Did they all grow normally?
  5. Are the red bumps in the second picture from the hair system? Ouch! Looks like it's all healed now though. I can see the new growth, it's already a great improvement for only 1 month I'm sure it will continue! How's the donor area? Are you thinking of getting a hair transplant?
  6. I agree that it looks really good based on the number of grafts and the area covered. Doubt any average person would think something is wrong. I understand wanting more density though. How do you feel about the temple points?
  7. This guy had something similar. He said they came out without resistance.
  8. Looks great! Can you take some close up photos to show us the density issues you're talking about?
  9. Great video. Yeah it looks average to me. Have you ever noticed any thinning other than in your hairline? You'll definitely be able to lower your hairline (mainly around the corners), and I would recommend it. Around 1 cm2 requires 50 grafts to be implanted. With 2000 grafts, that's 40 cm2, which is quite a large area. So you can kind of estimate how many grafts would be required based on how much you want to lower it.
  10. I'm delighted to see people starting to come from r/HairTransplants onto this forum. 90% of the discussion/pics in that subreddit are of awful HT clinics.. it's truly depressing to see how uninformed everyone is and the positions many of them end up in post op. I try to promote these forums whenever I can. Your goal is very realistic. Given your stability since starting medication, I would say you're a great candidate as long as you stay on it. The consensus is that starting with FUT provides more lifetime grafts (maybe 20-30%) than FUE, but again as long as you stay on medication I don't think you'll need the extra grafts. This thread is very useful to understand in detail the tradeoffs between FUT and FUE: Your donor seems average, but it's hard to tell because the pic is blurry. Do you have more (and clearer) pics of your donor? I would say the graft estimate is slightly high. I don't think you'd need more than 2000 based on the goals you described (mainly thickening, not too much lowering at the corners). You can check my recent HT thread for what 1800 grafts covered.
  11. So you're a NW6 who has used a hair system for years, had scalp issues with it, removed it to heal your scalp and try hair loss medication, and are now seeing positive results? I'm very interested to see photos!
  12. Do you know what's the recipient area in cm2 and therefore the resulting graft/cm2 density?
  13. Any progress in the recipient you can share? You're now a bit over 3 months post op, right?
  14. I can deeply relate to your experience. I was scared/shunned away from finasteride by a dermatologist when I was in my early 20s, which resulted in wasting years of valuable time. Finally got on fin a few years later, now 2 years total, and like you I've mostly experienced maintenance. I was extremely bitter towards the dermatologist but over time came to accept the position I'm in. Ended up getting a hair transplant a few months ago after doing a fair bit of research, and am pretty optimistic about my future outlook. Where did Dr. Reddy want to implant the grafts? Is the 1000 vs 2000 just a matter of density, or would he focus on more impactful areas like the front if limited to 1000 grafts? Which areas of loss are bothering you the most? Many people claim that implanting near weak native hair has a high risk of causing permanent shock loss, so it can be seen as higher risk than implanting on a completely bald area. You should ask the clinics about this. Dr. Reddy did an Instagram Q&A with the forum recently which I really enjoyed, you should check it out. There are tons of reputable surgeons in Europe. I would recommend going through a bunch of recent patient threads.
  15. Damn, Bisanga patients are always early growers 😁 can already tell this is going to be a great result. Did you not have much shedding?
  16. I'm a little surprised you'd still get a big shed then, but I guess that makes sense if you weren't responsive to the topical at all.
  17. Were you on topical minoxidil before that?
  18. Very nice result! I'm sure it'll cover up completely over the next couple months. You're tempting me to get my bit of crown loss done but I know I should wait until I'm older. Do you have any pre-op pics of your crown that you can share? I can kinda guess what it looked like based on the 90 days pic, but I'm not sure if that includes shock loss etc.
  19. Looking very young and vibrant. Pretty sure you said you were around 50, which is hard to believe. Seems like a great result so far and it should continue to improve over the next few months. Would you say the density feels pretty uniform throughout the entire transplanted area?
  20. Btw Rahal also measures the hair shaft diameter, right? What is yours? Don't think I saw it in your OP. That might add a bit more color to your results.
  21. I'm taking 0.5mg/day. I switched over because the available studies seem to show better efficacy while having similar rates of side effects. I understand there aren't as many studies and especially none as long term as fin, but it seems to be well established that it works better and I'm willing to take the slight risk I guess. No side effects from either.
