  1. This was quite the rage 15 years ago and I even had a Lazermax, which proved useless. Most of the links are probably dead now on this site https://hairlossfight.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=1061&sid=884efa5f7c07b02e394c1b3f55f82b64. There was a whole community that was building their own helmets. You have to figure that if it worked they would still be around.
  2. My best friend growing up had that and he did very well with a mustache. To tell you the truth I never even thought about it. It is much more noticeable to you than it is to others. It sure hasn't held Joaquin Phoenix back.
  3. I will be interested in hearing the response. I was also confused by your question. I err on the side of caution, and well exceed the suggested path for healing. You used 9 days as the point at which the grafts could not be dislodged. Do you want to stake your success on that or does it really hurt anything to take it a step further in the healing process.
  4. That is probably much more noticeable to you than it is to us. I can't see why you couldn't get a small transplant and grow out your mustache. Have you tried growing out you mustached just the way it is? Really only on the 4th picture is it noticeable and even then not that much.
  5. Many people take blood thinners for more important reasons than their hair i.e Stroke especially if they have AFIB.
  6. 2 weeks is not long enough to make a judgement about anything. Hang loose and come back in 6 months at the earliest.
  7. I was super gentle and let my hair air dry. I continued to use a saline spray long after it was indicated. I had a very high success rate and did not experience shedding I am not saying my way is the reason for no shedding, it may also be tied to my age. My first transplant was 2.000 in 2011 and it was FUT. FUT from the donor area is easy to conceal. The receiving area is your concern. I was able to return to work in 2 weeks and even passed inspection with Bernie, a woman at work who noticed everything. You may not be able to complete 3,000 grafts in one day unless 2 doctors are working on you. I did not pick the scabs off as some do. I also did not use any of the medications, so I will leave that to someone who knows what they are talking about.
  8. I have used a Flowbee for about 25 years because I hated white sidewalls with a passion. I am going to have to go to a stylist soon because my hair is 7.5 inches on the top, and I can't figure out how to handle it.
  9. Can we assume you are having FUE? I would suggest you just buzz down, but lets see what others think. 3000 grafts is a large procedure. Just from my last FUE with 2300 grafts, that took over 10 hours. 2 weeks was enough time for me, but others experience prolonged redness, and other complications. I babied my hair much longer than most say is necessary - 2 months minimum.
  10. Should I assume you have AFIB? I have been taking Pradaxa for years with no side effects. Hair clinics should not advise you to stop blood thinners for more than a few days to reduce the chance of bleeding. My last transplant was 13 months ago and turned out fine.
  11. I am always amazed that guys can not leave well enough alone. If you skin your knee do you pick the scab off every time it appears. That process delays healing why would you think it would help your transplants?
  12. I have never taken any meds. I wonder if there is a benefit to FUT-FUE-FUE. I wonder how SMP fits in with longer hair. I refuse to buzz down to the current fad.
  13. Are there any drawbacks to going FUT-FUE-FUT. I had 2100 FUT in 2011, 2300 FUE in 2018, and now I am thinking of FUT for the crown area. I thought I was satisfied after my 2nd transplant, and I am except for the crown. I have absolutely no desire to go through the shaved donor area ever again. I looked like a fool for 4 months. I wear my hair longer so modern hairstyles are just not for me.
  14. I have a different view of Ugly Duckling. Since my recipient area was not shaved, and I don't buzz by head anywhere, the worst part is waiting for the buzzed donor area to grow out.
  15. If you ever see me dressed like this - just shoot me. R. Don Steel offers excellent advice on clothes. One thing I hate is the new short too tight suit coats that make men look like Alfafa. https://steelballs.com/
  16. You may have some residual redness that would be hidden by hair. Shaving your head, a lot of times results in a white head. Shaving your head draws attention to the one thing you are trying not to draw attention to. I just don't see this as a very good tactic.
  17. How are people used to seeing you? A dramatic change right off will draw attention to your hair.
  18. Harpeet, if you are satisfied now you will really be excited at 1 year. You haven't experienced maximum improvement yet.
  19. The key for me is to maintain a natural look appropriate for my age, without giving up like so many do. My hair hasn't gone completely gray. Subtle incremental changes like transplants seem to be the best way to go. Dying my hair to get rid of the gray would probably look fake, and would probably be overkill. We have all seen the women with pitch black hair or the guys who dress too young for their age. I don't fit in with the Hip Hop scene, but I can still enjoy Hooters and Twin Peaks with friends. It is a whole different game when you get older. Hell I may even get a facelift next.
  20. That sounds like a good idea. Personally I took a 2 week vacation, and nobody expected anything when I got back. Of course that was FUT.
  21. I was working and a girl who always had headphones on announced the attack on America. I witnessed the Challenger explosion first hand in 1986 in Florida. I was in school when JFK was murdered in 1963.
  22. I agree there probably is a sweet spot that is best for each individual. That is one reason I am letting it grow, and the texture has improved a lot over the last few months. When you get older you look like a fool if you have a trendy haircut or trendy clothes.
  23. I am 72 now, and I believe I had a very high survival rate for the transplants. I really didn't realize how thin my hair was until I took that top picture. I have always done everything for everybody else and I decided it was time to do something for myself. I also did not experience many of the side effects of the procedure mentioned on this forum. I never saw shedding or extended redness. I had both FUT and then FUE. Frankly, my biggest problem was dealing with the horrible haircut after FUE.
