  1. Well I did try to grow my hair longer, but it became too hard to manage so I went back to a length closer to the picture I posted, maybe a little longer. I look terrible with short hair, and when I shave off my mustache I don't look right either. Don't laugh I have a Flowbee that cuts my top to the perfect length. It is not so good for the sides or back so I go to the barber for that. It has been about 19 months now, and I am totally satisfied. I could use some work on the crown, but there comes a time to call it quits. I can live with the crown. When I look at my original before shot I think Oh My God, I didn't realize that it was that bad.
  2. I had 2200 done FUE in 2018 and it took 10 hours. I have no idea how they can do 5000 in one day.
  3. I have been on many forums, and I have yet to be on a forum where somebody wasn't pissed off about something. This is human nature. How many groups have you ever been in where everyone is happy. Reviews of doctors can be biased, and this site can certainly not review every review done. I would suggest that disgruntled posters, instead of bitching develop a system whereby each and every review is verified. Do you believe all the reviews on Amazon. I had 2 transplants and both turned out good, and I never used the preferred doctors, but that was my choice. I suggest angry posters put on their big girl panties and realize that in end end they made a mistake or had unreasonable expectations. I also believe reviews should not be posted for at least a year, because until then you really don't know the results. This is a great site.
  4. I had much more of an issue with not rubbing the donor area after FUE. For the donor area I would hold my hand on the area without scratching. I went a little overboard spraying the saline solution. Perhaps that helps with the aformentioned itching on the scalp are, as this was not a problem for me.
  5. Thanks Melvin, I think you are doing a great job, even introducing topics on the rare chance that things get slow here. Many people when they sit at the keyboard seem to turn into Mike Tyson, and write things they can never say in real life. Try not to take it too personal because their bravado is limited to the keyboard. This is a great site and I learned a lot here - keep up the good work.
  6. I don't post that often because I have no interest in many of the topics, but I really haven't seen the negativity that you speak of. I have had a few run ins with individuals, but nothing big. As a mod I am sure you read a lot more of the posts than I do. At my age 72, I am pretty much done asking questions, but I stop in now and then. This is a great site - keep up the great work. I do have one question - How do people with many fewer posts and likes than I have are designated as Senior Member and I remain as just a Member. P.S. Melvin, you stirred some memories. I went to a couple of the sites I used to visit. One is gone, and on the other the last post on transplants was in 2007. I bet I have been on this site over 10 years now. I can remember a big interest in Laser Helmets that you build yourself. I still have the tools to do so. I did actually buy a free standing laser that was useless. Finding this site was a Godsend. 4200 grafts between 2011 and 2018, and I am done unless I find the fountain of youth, and start chasing 20 year olds again. I say I have 2020 vision - I want to be chasing 20 year olds 20 years from now. LOL
  7. The one thing I would suggest is that you watch the economy very carefully. This smells way too much like an attack on the economy. There is just too much that doesn't make sense. Why would you cross a Corona virus with SARS & HIV? You may spend your savings and then the economy takes a depression nosedive. These are very dangerous times. Russia and Saudi Arabia made a huge mistake with their oil war, and then China released Covid-19. Your hair is important to you, but not as important as being able to feed your family. WAIT!!!
  8. LOL, well I tried. I just switched to an I Phone. Smart phones in general are not my thing. I use a PC. There is nothing special about my hairstyle. It is the haircut you would get from Fred the Barber if you just sat in his chair and said nothing. The top is not slicked back, and I hate the shaved sides look. Some day I will learn how to use a smartphone.
  9. This is a good question, and one I labored over. At first I grew my hair too long and couldn't find any way to style it. I finally went for a haircut, and realized I am pretty much locked into a medium length side part, and please don't call it a comb over - that has a different vision of a guy trying to comb his hair from ear level over the top of his head. Comb overs are disgusting. I can't comb my hair forward because it does not fall right, and I don't like the slicked back look.
  10. I like your answers. You say what I am thinking, just much more eloquent. Kudos
  11. I think I can answer my own question. https://www.viviscal.ca/hair-growth-cycle
  12. I have had FUT in 2011 and FUE in 2018, and never experienced any shedding. Last month I experienced shedding as witnessed by the shower drain. The shedding has again stopped. Would you say this was just a natural hair cycle?
  13. I found the FUT much easier, and in retrospect I should have never bothered with FUE. The Ugly Duckling stage with FUE seems to last forever. I found the FUE extraction to be the worst part of the procedure. They numbed the daylights out of me - still I was squirming like a toad during extraction. On the other hand the FUT strip felt odd, but there was no pain, also I had no swelling. All in all FUT was much easier.
  14. I had FUE, and didn't experience any swelling. People sure experience a wide variety of reactions.
  15. Damn, I just saw a video on Facebook where they were gluing dreadlocks on a guys head, and it looked awful. I was going to post it on here, but I thought it was too ridiculous. Then somebody posted this thread.
  16. I have never seen this posted before, but it gives you a starting point. Fro those who have traveled to, lets say, Turkey is the $3,000 average a good estimate, or are the figures out of date? https://www.holidayhealth.com/hair-transplant-cost/
  17. I fear you are dismissing an almost universal issue. People are not looking at the overall picture.. If your eyes look like George Soros no amount of hair is going to do any good. We have all seen women with young hair, but a face like Maxine Waters. Maintaining a natural appearance is vital, and should be a prime consideration when planning your hair goals. One other thing is why would a man get a transplant and then shave his head. I can't think of anything more counter productive than shaving your head. There is more to reaching your goals than just your hair. You need to speak to Plastic Surgeons other than Hair Transplant. You have goals that you may not talk about, but you know they are there. Women are lucky in that they usually don't have that much trouble with hair loss. I don't need somebody to chime in with 'women lose hair also'. I am talking about average woman, whereas the average man loses hair. Women can concentrate on their face whether through cosmetics or surgery. I know of a highly regarded surgeon in Costa Rica and a full facelift will cost about the same as your average transplant . LOOK AT THE WHOLE PICTURE.
  18. The one impact that seems to be ignored is the fattening of the face. Perhaps hair transplant is only part of the solution to achieve the overall look you want. Alec Baldwin is a perfect example of a good hairline, but fullness in his face and specifically his eyes give him a haggared look. He has aged 40 years in the last 20 years.
  19. I sure wouldn't want to be President right now. Trump has to open at least part of the country. The current crop of Americans could not handle a Depression. Just look at the toilet paper frenzy, and push come to shove we could live without TP. We can not live without food. Actually we can survive a long time without food but try convincing the fast food generation that. The longest fast I have done is 5 days, but it was easy. I don't think you could convince many people of that. They would invent a panic in their mind. The longest fast I have heard of was about a year. The more body fat you are carrying now determines how long you can go. All but the very lean could go 2 weeks easy.
  20. Melvin, this is a real juggling act. Trump knows that he has to open at least part of the country up or face a Depression that could be more deadly than the Corona Virus. I wouldn't want his job. Governor Cuomo is in a similar situation. It is going to be interesting to see what impact Mardi Gras has on the spread of the virus in NOLA, and really the rest of the country because they have so many visitors. Mardi Gras should have been cancelled. Easter is not until April 12 so there is a lot of time to spread the virus. I know people ignore me when I post the Travel Advisory, but the Department of State posts this for a very good reason. Having a full head of hair as you are lying in a coffin is not too impressive. Visitors will say he looks so peaceful and I love his hair. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/ea/travel-advisory-alert-global-level-4-health-advisory-issue.html
  21. This is a crisis the likes of which I have never seen in my lifetime. President Trump is juggling two fronts, I have even heard likened to WWII with Nazi Germany being the virus, and Japan being the economy. This is going to be interesting with the Dow responding with a 3,000 point jump the last two days. Remember the DOW reflects what they believe the future will be. We are moving out of a Bear Market. Some of you guys need to be logical - now is not the time for international travel, and you certainly don't understand the state of the economy of the country you want to travel to. You could be walking into a hornets nest.
  22. 72 here, and you will still want to chase ass, but it becomes damn hard to catch, especially in my Hoverround or walker. The best way is to trip them with your cane. If you care now you will care when you are 70
  23. FUT does not have the ugly duckling problem of FUE. A lot depends on the length of your. 2 weeks out of the limelight is pretty much all you need, unless you buzz your head. It is really more noticeable to you than other people. Your hair is not important to them.
  24. FUT is easy unless you wear your hair short. Took 2 weeks off and nobody noticed. I was retired when I then had FUT so that was not a problem.
