  1. How far are you all traveling for your transplants. The closest recommeded surgeon to me is Dr Limmer and he is 471 miles away in San Antonio.
  2. Toad, it is kind of crazy that I was going to schedule without a face to face consultation, so I have decided to make a flight to San Antonio and go about this logically. I don't think 1500 is going to do the trick for me, and while he gave me a great quote for the 1500, I want to get all the bad news up front.
  3. Dr. Dean Edell(not a hair transplant doctor) on his radio program gave an interesting stat that during hard times the cosmetic industry prospers. It seems people want to look good to perk up their mood.
  4. Before anybody spends money on the LaserComb check out http://cgi.ebay.com/Laser-Max-90-Lasers-For-Hair-Loss-Comb-your-hair-again_W0QQitemZ250359112135QQcmdZViewItem The lasercomb is very overpriced and takes much too long to use it to see any results. It is all about how many Joules are delivered to the scalp and the lasercomb is pitifully underpowered. I have had a LaserMax for 2 weeks and I don't expect to generate new hair growth, but I have heard quite a few testimonials that it does improve the quality of your hair. The LaserMax treatment is 20 minutes every other day. You would spend hours a day with the lasercomb for the same delivery and you would have very sore arms.
  5. Canadian_Buba, thanks for the response. Dr. Limmer said 1 inch would be OK. Short hair does not look good on me. I work in an office so wearing a hat would look stupid.
  6. I use a pill splitter and the way my insurance is structured I get them for free. Of course every Silver Lining must have a cloud, and I experienced sexual side effects from the drug and quit taking it.
  7. This may be the straw that breaks the camels back for me. I can't wear a hat at work, and I thought they could just do the grafts without shaving my head. I can take about 3 weeks off, but that is not long enough for enough regrowth to cover the donor area. I wonder if all doctors shave the recipiant area.
  8. Canadian_Buba, I just stopped myself from posting a stupid question. I see that your hair was longer before the procedure. Is it SOP to shave the transplant area prior to transplanting?
  9. I am happy that I have found this site, and I have made contact with Dr. Limmer in San Antonio. I am in Oklahoma City and there are no recommended doctors in Oklahoma. Dr Limmer was very informative, and I was impressed with his knowledge, and the time he spent talking to me. My expectations are under control, I don't expect to have hair like Rod Blagojevich. I see a lot of people are going overseas, but I am reluctant, with the current atmosphere, to travel abroad.
  10. I want to thank everybody for their responses. I of course, want to make as informed a decision as possible. How highly to you all consider the recommendations of this website and do you kind of ignore doctors not screened here?
  11. I see many people have Multiple Procedures - Multiple Doctors, and I wonder if this is because of cost, doctor dissatisfaction or other reasons. I had a phone consultation with pictures, and a figure of 1500 grafts was mentioned. Do you find that the initial estimate is usually too low, or do you just decide at a later date that you want more? I realize photos are not the same as the doctor looking at your head.

  13. I just had my first phone consultation with Dr Limmer, and he was very thorough and informative. I sent him 3 pictures, and he was talking about 1500 grafts. I am thinking about scheduling in late October to correspond with another procedure I am having a few days later.
  14. I am a raw rookie here so I am feeding off another post. Would you all consider 10k for 2500 an average price. I am in contact with Limmer Clinic, but haven't talked to them yet. I am probably Norword 4 or 5.
