  1. Find Couto's results amazing and he carries out the whole procedure himself. Shame the waiting times are so lengthy. Think it's a year just to get a consultation and 4 years for the procedure itself but the results really speak for themselves. The only thing I'd say is a lot of his results on Youtube seem to be with patients with darker hair so not sure if a lot of his work is with Spanish patients who generally seem to have thicker donor hair but that's me making assumptions just based on Youtube videos so I could be completely wrong.
  2. Think it's a decent result for just over 2000 grafts. Density was always going to be an issue considering the hairline has been lowered by so much and the 2135 grafts included restoring the area from the hairline down to the temple points. You mention the curls don't help density but I actually think the opposite... they aid with the illusion of density. Personally, would have been reluctant to lower it by so much if there is history of NW 6-7 hair loss in your family but if you and your surgeon have a plan and your own expectations are reasonable, then fair enough. Think remaining on finasteride will be imperative in your case.
  3. Coming along nicely mate. Liking where the hairline has been placed, natural looking. Temple points also looking natural and not too aggressive like you see in some results. Once those temple areas starting thickening up over the coming months, think you will be very happy.
  4. If you transplant hair into the area you've marked, that hair will stay but you'll continue to lose native hair behind it. So in the future you may end up with a situation where you have a hairline but the there's not much behind it. Also by lowering the hairline, you in affect increase the total area on top of the head that needs covering. If not on meds to keep hold of your native hair, this could be problematic as you only have so much donor hair to go round. Early 30s is still fairly young and there's a good chance you'll continue to lose hair. A good surgeon will be able to give you a more accurate opinion but I'm just of the thinking that if one is not on med's, you need to play the percentages somewhat and maybe extending the area on top that needs covering by lowering the hairline isn't the best of ideas especially at a younger age. Not saying guys don't do it, but without meds, personally think it's something you should be aware of.
  5. To be honest, seeing as you've come off finasteride, I'd be tempted to leave the hairline where it is At your age without meds, I'd err on the side of caution personally.
  6. Very unfortunate. Great gesture by your surgeon to fix for free and hope things work out well for you going forward. This is one of the things I've had concerns about if I push ahead with a procedure as I am a pretty deep sleeper. Don't think I will take any chances and will stick to sleeping in a chair with a neck pillow for at least a few days post op.
  7. If it's just thinning around the crown, I think surgeons can be reluctant to perform surgery as a lot of the time, you'll continue to thin/loose hair in that area taking you back to square one fairly soon after a HT. If it's just your crown that's thinning at the moment, your best bet is probably medication if your not already on it.
  8. Really don't think saw palmetto does much for hair loss, especially at the recommended dose listed on labels. Who know's, if someone experimented and took a crazy dosage, it may have some effect (although I'd still be doubtful) but then I'd imagine side effects may well start showing up anyway.
  9. Unfortunately there's no sure way of knowing this unless you try it. You maybe one of the lucky ones and take 1mg and experience no sides at all. All comes down to the individual imo. You may want to look into starting below 1mg and slowly build up.
  10. Don't believe Saw Palmetto is effective for hair loss. Even if there is something behind it when it comes to mpb, it will do nothing at the recommended dosages on most labels and think someone would be having to taking a crazy dosage to get it to have any kind of effect on hair and that may well induce it's own side effects, never mind the expense associated with having to go through so much of the stuff. Not really comparable to propecia at all imo.
  11. Donor hair is currently grown out and thought I'd get some general opinions on it . I feel hair caliber is probably average. Tthe hair on the back and sides has always grown awkwardly and is quite annoying when grown out. My hair on top was pretty straight before it started thinning but always had this type of growth on in the back and sides.
  12. Excellent progress...in fact one of the best cases if not the best at the 6 month mark I've seen. One of those results where exceptional donor characteristics combined with medication are producing a superb result. Congrats!
  13. In Turkey, if price was my main consideration (not ideal for price to be high up on the criteria when choosing a surgeon but appreciate in the real world sometimes it's difficult to avoid), I'd probably be looking at Cinik, Demirsoy and possibly Yaman. Think the latter had some questionable results a while back but a few more recent results look more promising but do your research. Ideally, if you only require hairline/frontal work, I'd definitely be looking at Dr Keser however he charges 3.5 euros per graft which works out more than ASMED for the same number of grafts. In India, personally not sure I'd consider anyone apart from Dr Bhatti although saying that Eugenix seems to have some encouraging work however would probably want to see greater evidence of cases from them before I'd add them to the list. On another note, If you are not taking finasteride, I'd be extremely vary of lowering your hair line. You'll very likely continue to lose hair without finasteride and may find yourself in a situation where your lowered hairline stays but you continue to lose the hair behind it over the next few years which may leave you with an odd look.
  14. From the pictures, it doesn't look too bad but in all honesty it's difficult to offer a real opinion without knowing how many grafts were transplanted and without a pre transplant picture.
  15. Procedure is framing your face and obviously you still have some time to go till the 12 month mark but personally, I'd be probably be expecting more at 8 months to be honest. Looks like you have diffused hair loss from your pictures and there may possibly be some shock loss there after transplanting hair in between the weak native hair, especially as I believe you are not taking finasteride. Also wonder whether 2381 grafts is quite enough as it's a fairly large area that has been worked on which includes pretty much rebuilding the hairline and filling in a fair bit behind it to. Probably enough to provide coverage but short when it comes to density front. It is 8 months however and best to see how things play out after a full 12 months. Hope things turn out well for you.
  16. I've looked at Dr Demirsoy's work and think it generally looks clean and seen a quite a few good results. Dr Cinik also seems to be coming up with good work. Not really looked into the others you've mentioned. As you have more extensive balding, I would have suggested ASMED (even though they charge more per graft) but I think they are more than likely to turn you down as there are question marks over your donor area judging by your pictures. Focus should be on the frontal area with a HT but I do believe going by your photos, in your case most reputable surgeons will want you to start taking finasteride first and see if there's any improvement not only on top but also the donor area before performing a procedure. Finally, you are still young at 30 and your hair loss is very likely to continue. Being in your 30's certainly doesn't mean it has stopped. It may slow down but you can never say with any certainty it has actually stopped, even more so considering you are not on meds. Main concern in your case is whether the sides and back drop.
  17. Think it's a good result based on where you were pre HT and made a big cosmetic difference overall. From the pictures, frontal area does show up scalp and maybe lacking some density but some of the pictures do appear be taken under harsh lighting by the looks of it. Regarding the hairline....when you had the HT done was the clinic aware you would be taking finasteride? I maybe wrong but from your write up it appears the decision to take fin was made after the HT and the clinic were under the impression you wouldn't be taking it? If that's the case, I can see why a conservative approach with the hairline was taken because as you are in your 20s, it wouldn't be a great move to go with an aggressive hair line at your age without being on medication imo.
  18. Your donor looks weak from the pictures with what looks like some retrograde alopecia going on in the nape region. Saying that, it maybe better to grow your hair out and then take pictures of the donor area to get a better idea of it's quality but from those pictures, it does appear to be thin and the crown appears to be dipping into the classic Norwood 6-7 pattern. What are your expectancie's from a HT? In your case, your first port of call should be finasteride (if you are not already on it) in all honestly to see if can help improve things.
  19. From your previous photos on a different post, you seemed to still have a lot of native hair. The frontal area was thinning yes but don't believe there was any full on slick bald areas and so any HT would involve a lot of transplanting amongst thinning native hair. Did the Dr who advised that you're not a good candidate suggest you start medication first? I can understand why a surgeon may raise concern because he/she may well be thinking that those native hair's could be shocked out permanently in the worst case scenario and even if they do come back, you will carry on losing if not on medication hence you may not be satisfied with your result further down the line. What I do find strange is when you say the surgeon feels the transplanted hair wont grow. Were any reasons provided?
  20. If looking at surgeons in Europe, may be worth looking at Dr Keser for the kind of procedure you want. Do you have any thinning elsewhere on the scalp and are you on medication?
  21. Think the result could have been better but not totally surprised by the outcome in all honesty. That's a pretty large area to cover for 3125 grafts and so density was always unlikely to be there. Maybe expectations needed to be managed more appropriately but think it was near enough a given a 2nd procedure would be needed for what you want. Not to take away anything from Dr Keller but I agree with JeanLDD you may well have been better served sounding out surgeons who have more experience/frequency of working on more extensive balding
  22. I know techs get bit of a bad rep but to be fair the donor and recipient areas for ASMED patients generally does always seem to look clean and on point in post op pictures, even when they are taken by the patients themselves. It's one reason I am considering them coupled with the fact I'll be requiring a large procedure.
  23. Your crown does look it has already expanded outwards a fair bit to be honest, I suppose the question is whether the sides and back will drop going forward. Not always the most accurate way of gauging future hair loss but how is the hair loss in the other men in your family? Also how old are you?
  24. Agree with this. Wouldn't be looking to lower the hairline as it currently frames your face and as you are not on meds, I'd stay conservative. Not sure I'd reinforce it either judging by the pictures as it looks ok? Would be focusing on the crown now. 2000 odd should give you decent coverage back there although it maybe lacking on the density front but personally that wouldn't bother me too much as you'd overall be in a better place compared to when you started. Leaving you another 1500 or so in the bank if you want to tweak areas in the future.
