  1. You should absolutely see Dr. Marc Dauer. He does as good or better work than anybody in Los Angeles. I don't think he charges anything for the consultation and will give you a very honest opinion and recommendation. Super nice guy too.
  2. I would recommend only doing conservative work in the hairline area. Maybe 1300-1500 FU's. This could be done with either FUT or FUE. I do not think you have enough hair loss in the crown region at this time that could be improved with a hair transplant. Continue with preventative measures as long as no side effects occur.
  3. I think that the more actual lasers there are in the device the more expensive and effective it will be. Some of the newer helmet lasers have over 270 lasers and in the $1600-1800 range.
  4. Yes this patient has continued to take Finasteride daily and use LLLT as instructed since the procedure and will continue to so in an attempt to maintain as much of original native hair as possible.
  5. You might want to consider LLLT (low level laser therapy) as an additional treatment after you are stabilized on the Minoxidil.
  6. Also want to make sure you are not exposing area to direct sunlight or hot water as this might prolong the redness.
  7. Look like the hairs possible with the outer sheath of the follicle. Not the actual follicle. Most of those should still grow.
  8. I have had patients who work in office setting and normally would not be able to wear hat. However, they spoke to appropriate person in charge and told them they were have some spots removed from scalp from dermatologist and was told to keep head covered for a week. Usually works especially if you don't want anyone knowing you had this procedure done.
  9. I have transplanted patients successfully who had psoriasis on the scalp. However, I have patients get treated for the condition and perform the surgery during a dormant phase of the disease. Will it move to the recipient area is a good question. I would think not since the grafts are so trimmed and very minimal amount of skin is transplanted with the graft.
  10. You cannot go wrong with Dr. Hasson. He is an excellent hair transplant surgeon. If you already have a scar in donor area and have no plans on shaving head. FUT has some real benefits over FUE in some cases. It does not thin out the entire donor area like FUE can. You do not have to shave down donor area to do procedure making it easier to camouflage post operatively. Also in my opinion it has a 5-10% higher survival rate.
  11. This 41 year old patient came to see me with concerns of a receding hairline and balding in the crown region. As the patient would like to retain the ability to keep his hair short, we agreed the FUE method was best for him and successfully transplanted 2208 grafts to both areas of concern. I also recommended he begin taking Finasteride and using low level laser light to prevent further loss to the crown and mid-scalp. Patient returned to clinic 1 year after the procedure and is very pleased with results. At his one year follow up patient said “ I feel like a new person”. This is exactly what a hair restoration surgeon wants to hear. Patient may consider a second procedure in the future to add density to the crown.
  12. Don't use a Brillo pad to scratch it. Lol Are you talking about while the scabs are still present or after they have all fallen off?
  13. I cant tell you how many patients I have seen that went to a very inexpensive clinic for their hair transplant and were very unhappy with the results. They then had to go somewhere else to get it repaired which ended up costing them more money in the long run. Plus they had all the unnecessary aggravation and wasted time.
  14. The hair loss obviously concerns you because you are considering a HT and are on this forum. I agree its generally more important when your young and if you had a HT to strengthen the hairline/frontal area and eventually ran out of donor supply you would have a few options. They include leaving a spot in back uncovered which is not uncommon, wearing a hair system , BHT , SMP. or a combination BHT/SMP.
  15. I have never had a patients tell me they were taking this. I did review the ingredients and do not see anything harmful. I did find it strange that it says Zinc inhibits hair growth.
  16. With FUE there should be no worries about working after 10-14 days. Of course be careful not to physically bump your head into something, but careful workouts should not effect the results of your procedure.
  17. Really depends on how large your temporal triangle is. Can you post photo? No face needed. Usually there are a few remaining original hairs which will give the doctor a road map as to what angle and direction to place the new hairs.
  18. Unfortunately no doctor has a crystal ball and can predict how much hair loss a patient will have in the future. But the general rule is that it will continue with time especially and those experiencing hair loss at a young age. We do try to look at family history of MPB but it is a combination of both parents genetics so accurately predicting future hair loss is difficult if not impossible. So I think it is wise to create a game plan the has worst case scenario in the equation even though we would all be hoping that doesn't happen. I do agree that you should consider preventative measures that your body can tolerate which may slow down or stop the progression of your hair loss. . But if you proceed with HT you should know there is a good chance you will want additional procedures in the future.
  19. I generally tell patients who are considering using Minoxidil post operatively to wait until skin returns to its normal color and appearance.
  20. 76 year old male.1786 Grafts FUT procedure placed in the frontal region. This result is only 6 months post-op after surgical procedure.Patient is extremely happy with results and is hoping for a little more improvement over the next 6 months.
  21. Some of the transplanted hairs will fall out before growing and some will grow a little before falling out. Either way it is not an indication as to whether or not the hairs will grow.
  22. I agree that you just need to wait till you have your results before deciding if a second procedure is desired. No matter how close the grafts are placed next to each other in the procedure when everything is grown in there will be spaces available to add more grafts and improving density. Often more than one procedure is needed to get the desired density.
