  1. Time out of body is the most critical factor when it comes to graft survival rates. Temperature and hydration are also important. there are several things the doctor can do including having adequate number of staff, being present so surgical staff doesn't need to be waiting and proper sequencing of the procedure. For example, with FUE the recipient sites can be made before the extraction of the grafts so once the harvesting is performed the grafts can immediately be placed.
  2. I am hoping that you you got enough results from your first procedure to help camouflage things the second time around. In most cases after 7-14 the patient should appear similar to before the procedure. Unless FUE was done and then you have to wait for hair to grow back in the donor area. Patients that are very fair skinned can have some prolonged redness but not a year.
  3. It is always important to have a detailed patient history before performing surgery. History of any cardiac disease or allergies are of primary concern. There are different types of anesthetics that are available for patients with certain pre-existing conditions. In most cases the HT procedure can be performed safely. Although there are some rare circumstances where we suggest the patient not have the surgery.
  4. Generally Ketoconazole 2% needs to be prescribed be a doctor. You can get 1% over the counter.
  5. There are plenty of exercises that you can start doing 2-3 weeks after surgery. The important thing I tell my patients to avoid for 3 months after a hair transplant procedure is not to hyperflex the neck. In other words do not try to touch your chin to your chest. I think that mild flexion like using your phone or typing on a computer is ok . Over flexion of the neck causes contraction of the trapezius muscle( shoulder ) which can pull downwards and possible stretch the scar out.
  6. Generally the transplanted hairs are very short and do not require brushing. Unless you have a long hair transplant and those hairs will probably shed in the first 1-2 months.
  7. Body hair transplants are very difficult and very unpredictable. They are generally very expensive as well. Of all areas from body that hairs can be taken from and transplanted to scalp the beard is the most successful. If you are considering this definitely go to clicic that specializes in this procedure. As the success rate has a lot to do with the experience of the the surgeon.
  8. Blood thinners definitely not needed after a hair transplant surgery. Anti-inflammatories are optional and may help with post operative swelling but are not required.
  9. Most females choose FUT because they do not want to shave entire head to do the surgery which they always do in Turkey. Definitely go to clinic that performed many surgeries on females that have traction alopecia. the hairline is critical and your case is hairline and probably temporal area.
  10. I tell patients that once all of the scabs have fallen off in the recipient area and the scalp has returned to its normal color (redness gone away) it is safe to get a haircut. Generally this occurs in 7-10 days. I do tell them not to use a razor or trimmer with no guard for a few months.
  11. Not that uncommon. However, most comprehensive hair restoration clinics will off their patients some of the non surgical preventative measures in an attempt to slow down the progression of the hair loss. I have had several patients over the years tell me they refuse to take any medications and that if they have more hair loss in the future they will come back for more procedures. I also warn them that they could run out of donor hair at some point and that we should create a game plan for them that keeps the worst case scenario in mind.
  12. The reality is you have a large area of hair loss and appears the you have relatively fine hair. You already have 3800 grafts removed from donor area ( who knows how many where successful). It is debatable whether you were even a good candidate for FUE in the first place. Therefore you might want to consider FUT which generally can produce more grafts in a single session and does not thin out the donor area like FUE does. Keep in mind I offer both FUT and FUE so I am just telling you the way I see it. That doesn't mean that if other doctors see it differently they are wrong.
  13. I think that adding as many beard hairs as possible to the frontal area already transplanted could make an improvement but do not think it would be dramatic. Would recommend you not even consider having any of the grafts placed in the mid scalp or crown areas.
  14. At just under 3 months it is hard to tell. I am hoping that there was a lot of shock in your donor area and that area is just delayed with the growing phase of the shocked hair follicles. I does appear that you have above average density and relatively coarse hair in the donor area and 1600 extractions would normally not cause that appearence.
  15. Once the scalp has completely healed after a hair transplant there is not a lot the patient can do to effect the growth that is going to start 3-5 months after procedure. I tell patients that after 2 week a blow dryer can be used but safer to use at lower temperature or at farther distance from scalp. Hair products can be used 3-4 weeks post-op.
  16. Yes the angle and direction that the recipient slits are made do determine the angle and direction the hair will grow. This is a critical part of any hair transplant.
  17. When transplanted hairs are cut very short they will show the true angle at which they were implanted into the scalp. If you let hair grow longer they often can be directed in a desired angle and direction.
  18. Most supplements help with hair quality not quantity but are also good for general health. However, healthier hair can look like more hair. If you are going to consider laser therapy(LLLT) I recommend units that are comprised of all true lasers. Some units are all or partially LED lights not lasers.
  19. I think that 1600-1800 follicular units would do the job. Remember you only have a limited amount of donor follicles in you your donor bank and you can only make withdraws no deposits in this donor bank account . You want to save as much for later in case you have further hair loss in the future.
  20. It appears that you have some miniaturized hairs but also some healthy multi hair follicular units. It would help if you showed a few photos of your hair from a distance also. How old are you? Is your hair thinning compared to before? What color is your hair or do you color it? These are just a few of the questions that given the answers might help to answer your question more accurately.
  21. Dr. Marc Dauer is by far the best hair restoration physician with regards to eyebrows. He has performed as many or more that any other doctor that does eyebrow transplants.I have been to his office and modified the way I perform eyebrow transplants after observing his technique. I've seen many of his patient results and they are excellent and very natural. If I needed my eyebrows transplanted that is where I would go.
  22. Keep in mind that I am not saying that the other physicians you mentioned are not qualified or good hair transplant doctors. I am just responding to your question about Dr. Hasson.
  23. Dr. Hasson is a excellent hair restoration surgeon. I have been to his office in Vancouver. He has all very qualified technicians and takes a lot of pride with every patient. Dr. Hasson is one of only a handful of doctors I would go to if I needed a hair transplant.
