  1. You should see continued improvement over the next 6-10 months. Everything appears well healed. Just be patient.
  2. How long has doctor been performing hair transplantation surgery? How many procedures a day does the doctor perform? How many technicians are assisting the doctor and how long have they been working at clinic? What parts of the surgery does the doctor perform and what role the technicians play in the surgery? These are just some of the important questions that should be answered before deciding on a doctor/clinic.
  3. Certain states have specific laws about refusing to treat HIV patients. In reality all clinics are supposed to use universal precautions and should be performing the surgeries the same on all patients. Whether they have HIV. Hepatitis or some other undiagnosed condition.
  4. I mu experience the lasers that are all true lasers are more effective than those lasers that use LED lights.
  5. Unless you are wearing you hat super tight and actually affecting blood circulation I do not think wearing a hat will cause hair loss. Where is your balding spot?
  6. It is a tough call. This is one of the problems with having a surgical procedure done so far away from home.
  7. That is why it is important to go with a very conservative hairline placement in younger patients and only do transplants in frontal and mid scalp before considering crown work.
  8. Hopefully the patients had above average donor density and the doctor creates a plan that accounts for possibility of additional hair loss with aging. Then there should be enough remaining donor hair to connect the original transplanted areas with the new areas of hair loss.
  9. Did he show or tell you of any studies/articles that describe or explain how hair follicles are regenerated in donor site. I have need seen any data that supports that or compares Amniofix directly to ACell.
  10. I agree if grafts are going to be removed proper healing time is required before the new grafts be placed into that area. However, the grafts that are removed could be replanted in an area other than the hairline so the hairs are not wasted.
  11. You should ask to have the doctor call you to explain how he plans to fix hairline. Sometimes some grafts can be removed and replaced in proper direction.
  12. You appear to have some general thinning . So you should hope that the Finasteride will slow down the progression of the hair loss/shedding. A small percentage of patients have some improvement in health of hairs in thinning area or waking up of some follicles stuck in sleep cycle which could give the appearance of more hair.
  13. Redness is caused from inflammation. It takes some patients longer than others to have the inflammation fade away. Generally the more fair skinned a patient is the longer it will take for the redness to go away. The only concern would be if the initial redness from the surgery went away and then returned some time later. In these cases the doctor who performed the procedure should be contacted right away to rule out any infection.
  14. I agree that it is always wise to keep as much hair in the donor bank for the future use as possible. Especially for those younger patients where it is unknown how much future hair loss they will have. I know when patients see that the hair transplant worked they often want more and more. I try very hard to make them happy with less and remind them how much better off they are than before the transplant.
  15. Do you mean affect hair growth after having a hair transplant or just normal daily hair growth?
  16. Dr Hasson is a great HT doc. I think one week will be sufficient to recover from any swelling if it occurs. If you follow post-op instructions carefully 7-9 day should be enough time for full recovery. Maybe have surgery on a Friday and go back to work the following Monday. Giving you 10 day to recover.
  17. I know patients want to get as much density as possible in a single session. However, every person has a limited amount of donor hair and most cannot afford to waste any. So would you rather have 50 FU's per sq cm and get 47 survive or place 70 FU's per sq cm and get 54 survive. Keep in mind that the situation you are in did not occur over night and often cannot be fixed over night. That does not mean that if you have a large area of hair loss you cannot try to get a lot of grafts in a single session, but in many cases additional sessions will be requested to obtain more density.
  18. In most cases BHT is done as a last resort when no scalp donor hair is available. The results are often sub optimal and the costs are generally very high.
  19. We can examine the scalp and look for miniaturization of hair that are currently present. But this would not determine future hair loss. It would be great if we had a crystal ball and could accurately predict the patients final hair loss pattern. This would allow for a better long term game plan. Unfortunately, we don't have the ability to do this so we use as much information available from patient to try and create a reasonable plan and always keep worst case scenario in mind.
  20. I really doubt that 5-6 weeks post-op that any harm could be done to the grafts. I allow my patient to use concealer one month after the procedure. I do instruct them to wash off at night before going to bed.
