  1. Thanks for the advice. I guess it couldn't hurt to try switching. I am just concerned reading about permanent side effects, and before they get worse, I was thinking of trying to reverse them by stopping.
  2. It's hard to say for sure, but I think I noticed some side effects on Finasteride. I used it some years ago and noticed them then and stopped because of the side effects. Then I started taking it again before doing FUE. After reading Dutasteride was more effective (and at the time covered by my insurance) I switched.
  3. I am currently only taking Dutasteride. I previously took Finasteride but switched to Dutasteride a little over a year ago. Reading about side effects, I am skeptical that switching back to Finasteride would dramatically change the side effects.
  4. I've been taking Finasteride and Dutasteride for a few years now, and had FUE for my frontal area about two years ago. I am really noticing sexual side effects from the Dutasteride and want to stop taking it but am worried all my original hair will fall out leaving the transplanted hair alone at the front of my face. I also use Minoxidil and a caffeine spray. Is there a natural supplement option or alternative/additional topical options?
  5. I've seen quite a few people on here saying that the FUE doctors in Europe are 'better' for FUE. But I don't have a clear understanding of why people think this. Is there a specific reason to go to the top European doctors over the top US doctors? For example, natural hairline, density, donor area, price, extractions, etc? I'd love any and all arguments for one over the other. Thanks in advance for the help!
  6. Thanks for the replies. This is all helpful. Does anyone know if Shapiro does extractions by hand? And what punch size is used for extractions? I've seen a variety for other doctors. Janna, thanks for your explanation about Ron vs. Paul - that's good information to know. I completely understand your argument for Paul.
  7. Hello, I am new here, but have been researching getting FUE for the last few months. I had a phone consultation with Shapiro Medical and was pretty happy with the information I got, and the approach they would take. I am wanting to feel comfortable moving forward with Shapiro. I also want to get excellent FUE for my hairline (including peaks), and I am definitely a picky person who pays a lot of attention to details. Currently, what is the consensus on FUE at Shapiro, Ron vs Paul, etc? I am in New York, and am wanting to do this soon, spend what is expected for about 2,000 grafts, and I am willing to travel. Thanks for any help -- there is a lot of information out there!
