Hi Everyone,

I spoke to the dr and he recommended 1200-1300 grafts.  He said Fut is better results and cheaper and i will have to wait longer to get in for fue.  About me, I teach martial arts (bjj) and have red light hair that i usually wear short.  Fue price quote was $11,800 -1200grafts and 12500.00 for 1300 grafts. fut was 7500 and 8000 respectively for Dr Diep in northern california.  Please let me know how this soundsabd any advice.  thank you.

You should have included pictures, and tell us your age,  1300 is not a lot of grafts, and the price sounds pricey.

Really!?!  I went to another dr. who said I wasn't a candidate yet, but I thought he just wanted to sell me the capillus laser hat!  I feel like everyone is staring at my hairline and it makes me insecure.  I didn't think about shock loss.

I don't think you need a hair transplant either. You've got a GREAT head of hair. If anything, get on finasteride and minoxidil. If you're worried about side effects from the finasteride, use the topical solution. Please let me know if you have any questions and feel free to PM me.

My advice does not constitute a patient-physician relationship nor as medical advice and all medical questions/concerns should be addressed to your medical provider.

You have great hair, I see no reason to get a hair transplant. Given your profession, you will have to stop doing bjj for at least a month. All in all, is it really worth it? In my opinion, no.

It'd be idiotic for you to get a HT.  Get on Fin.

Two things:

1. I don't think you need a transplant for sure. You have more to lose than to gain.
2. That is pricey. About 6.5 per graft for FUT. Just to give you an idea - I got mine from a good surgeon for $4 per graft. Price should not be the factor for you to decide, but I just want you to know what's out there (if you already dont).

All the best!

As a rep, I don't recommend to go with HT procedure, it will only damage your natural beautiful hair.

As others have said, with the hair that you already have, the results from having surgery far outweigh the benefits. The majority of hair transplant results can never come close to what you already have naturally. At best you will end up with surgical scarring. At worst the possible list is endless. The meds are working well for you and a hair transplant is always the last resort. You look far more natural now compared to what a hair transplant will add.

I would agree with all previous comments. Whilst we all have our own insecurities and see things from our own perspective, if you can avoid surgery, then you may want to reconsider currently.

In my opinion also, in your case to consider FUT surgery for only 1200 grafts with what I presume is a virgin scalp and donor area is questionable unless that was your personal preference.

The consensus is do nothing.  Most of us would kill to have your hair, and your ability to kick ass.

Thanks again guys!  I really appreciate your feedback.  I thought i could get a transplant to help me age more gracefully and keep my hair later in life.  I want to look natural and good for my age.  I also have a young girlfriend. :) With your feedback its hard to justify pushing forward and doing the transplant.  The Dr. was so convincing.  He told me I could look like Brad Pitt!  I was ready to drive over there!  I guess I need to work on my self image.  I focus on my flaws.

Highly irresponsible and unethical to raise a patient's expectations like that.

Guys,

It’s getting tiresome these Diep bashing sessions. We get it, you guys don’t like him. Some of these posts have been reported by other users. Op has decided against surgery, wish him well and good luck.
