Senior Member aaron1234 Posted June 10, 2012 Author Senior Member Share Posted June 10, 2012 You nailed it Irishsailor. Length and style can really impact the appearance of density. Senior Member RCWest Posted June 10, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted June 10, 2012 Your hair looks really thick with this style! It's hard to beat combed back or back and to the side for the density. Finasteride 1.25 mg. daily Avodart 0.5 mg. daily Spironolactone 50 mg twice daily 5 mg. oral Minoxidil twice daily Biotin 1000 mcg daily Multi Vitamin daily Damn, with all the stuff you put in your hair are you like a negative NW1? Senior Member StaggerLee123 Posted June 11, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted June 11, 2012 Much much better than the fauxhawk plus it makes your hair appear to be much thicker due to the shingling affect. Definitely more mature but you can always spike it up on the weekends... Thumbs up for sure!

Senior Member hairthere Posted June 12, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted June 12, 2012 Looks great Aaron! I was sporting a similar hairstyle and then had a cut to even it out and the guy went too short (tried a new place--big mistake!). It was amazing how just that extra inch of hair being cut exposed my scar in spots and made the top and crown especially look terribly thin. Senior Member aaron1234 Posted June 12, 2012 Author Senior Member Share Posted June 12, 2012 Thanks a lot guys. I'm still getting used to the new style. Sometimes I'm still not quite sure if it works, but I'll give it more time to get settled in. It does reveal more temple recession (especially on the right side) than my previous do. Give and take a little I guess. hairthere, no kidding! Just a little too short can make a big difference in density. Give a month and don't go back to that guy. I think I've been going to my current stylist for over a year. She's one of the only people who knows about my transplant history. Senior Member bonkerstonker Posted June 13, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted June 13, 2012 Not feeling it bro i think it looks better how you had it before stood up and back. At the end of the day you can switch up the styles from day to day so on that basis more the merrier. My hair can do all sorts of things nowadays when it's long like forward, side or curly scruffy etc but for some reason up and back always seems best like my sunday church style lol. Bonkerstonker! http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=1977 Update I'm now on 12200 Grafts, hair loss has been a thing of my past for years. Also I don't use minoxidil anymore I lost no hair coming off it. Reduced propecia to 1mg every other day. My surgeons were Dr Hasson x 4, Dr Wong x 2 Norton x1 I started losing my hair at 19 in 1999 I started using propecia and minoxidil in 2000 Had 7 hair transplants over 12200 grafts by way of strip but 700 were Fue From Norton in uk
Senior Member aaron1234 Posted June 13, 2012 Author Senior Member Share Posted June 13, 2012 Thanks for the candor Bonker! I think the responses I'm getting are mixed as well. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't. There are definitely pros and cons to it. I think I'll ride it out during the summer, continue to let it grow, and see if it catches on. Senior Member scar5 Posted June 14, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted June 14, 2012 Not my fav style (maybe lucky for you!!) but definitely nice looking hair ya got going there, kinda Jotronikesque. How does it hold up in the light, compared to the fauxhawk? I gotta say though, it reminds me of the spinning compass in my brain. North1) What length makes your HT do it's stuff best, Illusion, coverage East2) What length makes you look best front on, facebook, interview etc. South3) What length holds up best on bad hair days, nasty lights, wind, hats, West4) What length is congruent with your kick ass, wanna be, sometimes have identity. All of these are completely different for me. No wonder I'm a nut case. Anyway, you look good, I can (could?) do it nearly like that, but I can't do the crown paint, needed. Ironically , can do SMP! Senior Member aaron1234 Posted June 14, 2012 Author Senior Member Share Posted June 14, 2012 Thanks a bunch orlhair and Joe. Joe, I've largely decided to give this new style a try due to that thread. I've definitely found a sweet spot for density - but still not sure if I found the best style. Two different aspects/two different issues. Trying to find that perfect balance between them. Thanks scar5. That spinning compass you have is quite similar to the questions I've been pondering. Just because the style looks good for you doesn't necessarily mean it's the best way to achieve density. Just because you have great density doesn't necessarily mean you've got the best style going on. It holds up to bright light a bit better than the faux hawk. The "see-through" region doesn't go back as far. I'd say the front part of the hairline can still look a little thin in light because I comb it back and over. That said, the layering/shingling effect starts to make a big difference a few centimeters behind the hairline. The actual best style I came up with to eliminate the "see-through" issue is combing it straight forward over the hairline. However, style-wise it just does not work. Senior Member Janna Posted June 14, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted June 14, 2012 I think both the old style and the new style look good. Hard to go wrong when you're so damn good looking, right?! I guess it depends on the 'look" you're going for - more mature look now or the younger faux hawk look. I'm partial to the younger look on you but I don't think you have to choose one over the other for a long period of time. Hair grows fairly quickly so you can always switch it up when the mood strikes. I'm sure it's nice to have the options. Fun topic.
