  1. Rockford,

Welcome to our discussion forum and social community. I'm not familiar with the surgeon/clinic you've referenced. However, to maximize the number of responses to your question, I highly recommend you post your question on our popular hair restoration discussion forum in the "Hair Transplant Experiences and Surgeon Reviews" forum.

At this time, no physicians have been approved for recommendation on the Hair Transplant Network in South Africa. To see a list of physicians we do recommend, click here. To see our high standards for recommendation, click here.

  2. Albion,

Thanks for your comments and questions. Oddly enough, my scalp felt a bit tighter after 3 hair transplants than it does now after the fourth one. I still have decent laxity and could potentially get another 1500 grafts or so via FUT if needed. At this time however, I have no plans of getting further work done.

Finasteride has been keeping any further hair loss at bay. I've also recently added Rogaine foam to my regiment to attempt to thicken up the crown and area below it. it seems to be working a little bit so far and I've only been taking it since November 1st, 2010. If I really feel that I need another hair transplant, which would really only possibly be necessary for the area below my crown or if the sides recess further, I will most likely get it. But if that times comes, I will strongly be considering FUE.

    Best wishes,

    Bill

  3. Juz,

Congratulations on your recent hair transplant with the highly esteemed Dr. Rahal. Thanks for your detailed writeup and for adding photos. I do encourage you however, to add higher resolution photos as those "thumbnails" are very small and hard to see.

Keep us posted on your progress!

    Best wishes for a hairy 2011 :-)

  7. BrainFried,

Well you've certainly chosen an excellent physician to perform your hair transplant. When is the big day officially?

It does take awhile to see the results after the procedure and the wait isn't always easy. But it's an amazing feeling once the results finally grow in and you realize that you have hair again :-).

I hope you'll share your experience and photos on this community, especially our popular hair loss discussion forum.

Best wishes in restoring your hair,

    Bill (Falceros)

  8. ColdandBald,

Thanks for creating a blog with your questions. Blogs however, are typically used for patients to share their hair loss story, document their hair restoration journey and share photos. Thus, I encourage you to post your questions on our hair loss discussion forum which will garner much more input from our members.

Best wishes in restoring your hair,

  9. Albion,

While you still have a lot of scabbing, this is relatively normal especially if you haven't been working them off gently with your fingertips (not the nails) in the shower. Some physicians rather their patients let the scabs fall off naturally while others suggest a gentle scalp massage in the shower.

I'm sure the scabs will fall off over the next week or probably less if you're working on gently removing them.

    Best wishes,

  10. Albion,

Congratulations on your recent hair translpant with a highly esteemed physician and thanks for creating a blog to share your experience and photos. I trust you've also shared your experience and posted links to your blog(s) on our popular discussion forum? If not, I encourage you to do so.

I'm glad to hear that you had an excellent experience and look forward to watching your hair restoration transformation :-).

    Happy healing and growing,

    Bill Seemiller (Falceros)

  11. Alex,

Welcome to our hair loss discussion forum and social community. Everything you're describing sounds perfectly normal. Each physician has their own and should provide their patients with postoperative instructions. While most physicians I've talked to tell patients to begin gently massaging off the scabs in the shower with your fingertips toward the end of the first week, others sugggest letting them fall off naturally. That said, I recommend contacting your hair restoration physician for his/her unique postoperative instructions.

    Best wishes,

  12. Lukey,

Thanks for sharing your story and your plans for treating your hair loss on this blog and our forum. While I try to remain mostly optimistic, minoxidil probably won't regrow hair in the completely bald areas in the temple regions. However, it's not going to harm anything by giving it a try. While medical treatments are good at slowing down, stopping and sometimes even reversing the effects of male pattern baldness in thinning areas, only hair transplant surgery is proven to grow hair in completely bald areas.

I do look forward to reading and viewing your updates and wish you all the best in restoring your hair.

    Best wishes,

    Day 2

    J,

Thanks for creating a blog and photo album sharing your photos. However, since this is your blog, you may want to also share some text regardig your experience. You may also want to share some before photos either in this blog or another blog :-).

I'm looking forward to following your progress.

    All the Best,

    Bill Seemiller (Falceros)

  13. JPmonster,

Propecia isn't guaranteed to stop hair loss completely. However, it may have slowed it down. Usually it takes a year on Propecia to determine whether it's working. However, it's difficult to know for sure whether or not Propecia is helping to slow down your hair loss or not.

While you are certainly welcome and encouraged to create blogs, you'll get much better feedback on specific concerns by posting your questions on our hair loss forum.

    Best wishes,

    Bill Seemiller (Falceros)

  14. JPMonster,

Are you using proven non-surgical treatments like Propecia and/or Rogaine to try to get your hair loss under control? If not, I strongly encourage you to consider these. While undergoing hair transplant surgery can help to restore hair to thinning or bald areas, it does nothing to stop the progression of pattern baldness. Thus, non-surgical hair loss treatments truly complement a hair transplant.

    Best wishes,

    Bill Seemiller (Falceros)
