  1. If you are going to do a 'cap' - I would do lasercap.com If you want alot of diodes (for all over nearly entire scalp) go with overmachogrande.com helmet. Cheers!
  2. On the cheap (FUE) I would personally go to Dr. Luis Nader if you are going fue route. Maybe he does 2-3K grafts to start and that's good enough for you at your age. You could always do another FUE session as early as 12 months after the 1st session. That's if you really don't want a mega-session w/Erdogan. 'Cause you know he's going to suggest 4-5K+ grafts. It's his thing for people past NW3.
  3. Hasson & Wong are $8 a graft for fue w/sliding scale down the more you do - about the same for Konior. Shapiro is about $7-$8 per fue. Gabel and Arocha maybe a bit cheaper. Nadir just south of the border is a great value at around $2 per fue if you are a cash kinda' guy. Who else you looking at?
  4. Exactly the kind of post I was looking for! This is top notch in the field - I have seen nothing even close to this level or artistic work. My question - what about guys that have about 20% grey hair throughout. How would you do the initial 2-3 passes (colors, etc...) and then the yearly or every 18 month follow ups (colors, etc...)? Since I know my hair will continue to grey and even if I color it back to my original color from time to time (I don't currently - which is med. brown w/a shade of auburn) the hair still will continue to slowly get more grey, as a total % of all hairs. Again, this really looks about as good as it gets for transplant patients (multiple surgeries) w/still some thinning that really don't want to slather on dermmatch/prothick or another 'base' every morning to decrease scalp/hair color differences.
  5. Yea; a hybrid if you will for thickening (not temp smp but not decades permanent). What people don't understand is that if you go with completely permanent smp when your hair begins to grey - ha - you are screwed. I like the idea of fading but a bit slower than every year touchups. Every 2 or 2.5 years seems like a compromise. Great thread regardless and Ahead Ink is a motivated guy and I think understands the balding man due to his own hairloss journey. Innovation is key - one never knows what one can achieve unless continual asking questions.
  6. Shapiro Medical Group in MN is a well-run shop and Ron has decades of experience and attends conferences around the world on a regular basis. He has access to the latest techniques and is quite meticulous.
  7. Call his office and find out or do an online/in-person consultation. I think he's in the $5.00 to $6.00 range for FUE @2K grafts and up.
  8. If in bulk (powder) try bulksupplements.com Sign up for newsletter and get 10% off products (they offer that discount every month via email code). Best supplement (pure) company on the planet, imo. Heck, I even buy whey protein isolate by the 40lb box.
  9. I agree - if you have a very oily scalp cleanse scalp 2X's per day & try to keep your hands off of head. If the pimples are going to pop let them pop or put gentle pressure on them if they really hurt. Then keep them clean and that's all you can do. A real infection like folliculitis would be very noticeable. I keep getting breakouts on my scalp and I'm 9 months post op. Cleaning the scalp 2X's per day and that's all I can do. My face and scalp are historically like an oil sheen since as long as I can remember.
  10. Good work but 2 to 2.5 years after a transplant in terms of time is NOTHING. In fact I would venture to guess that 18 months to 30 months post transplant is when one looks the best! Hairloss is progressive and we RARELY see patients that come back for another session 5-15 years later for another and then maybe another after that. Again, good work but this is not a typical example of 'when the other hair falls out' after a transplant. Nope - it isn't. That's why I am replying. Not deceptive but you are stretching it Doc! ; )
  11. That's a world-class combover! Hard to tell results when he continues to style his hair this way - but his choice and he is the customer. Also, the pics aren't really that close up nor high resolution nor docan we see intra or post-operative graft placements either.
  12. Hi, Any good pics of guys that grew their hair out after procedure? Wondering about guys that may have had hair transplants before/after your procedure and am wondering if your procedure gives the illusion (realistically) of a light application of DermMatch/Prothik/Couvre for guys who grew out their hair some after your procedure? Thanks!
  13. If you are older - everything in your body takes longer to heal. From bruises to injuries to downright exercise. Give it at least another 3 months before another assessment. Looks like you are healing normally so, just try and not obsess. Let us know down the road how it worked out!
  14. Well written Hsrp10. Younger guys should know their family history and yes, if going to NW5 and beyond and you are going to commit to several surgeries, FUT 1st is the way to go for the vast majority of patients. Best of the best strip and fue surgeons today can really maximize graft counts for advanced norwoods - agreed. I think people have to be REALISTIC about where they are now, how fast they are losing hair, what meds they want to commit to for decades and how they see themselves at age 50 and beyond. I'm 51 and my appearance is not that important to me in the grand scheme of things, but I do want to look normal. That should be the most impt. factor for those wishing to create the 'illusion' of a normal head of hair or even a balding head of hair but w/hair to frame the face. Man, if only we had gene therapy or something for this chronic condition. It must be incredibly complicated 'cause other areas of medicine have made insane advances while we are stuck w/hair transplants that have been around since the 1950's.
  15. It's hilarious. Surgeon's making thousands every day and don't have a dedicated properly lit background and photo area using a high-end camera or digital video recording equipment. It is sloppy, lazy and many times deceptive. They should be called out and on some weekend go out and spend a few thousand of their cash and train themselves how to do proper before/after pics with true consistency. They are not unintelligent people. I applaud the physicians that are doing this right and the ones that aren't should be called out. But whatever, unless they are shamed into it or it begins affecting their bottom line the docs that aren't doing it properly will continue to be either deceptive or lazy. Simple as.
  16. No scars to 'cover' - they would have healed just fine. They were minigrafts and were punched out without need for stitches. A little trip back in time for the younger guys here. My initial hair transplants were done in '91 with small strips that were then divided into I think 1 to 2mm 'minigrafts' that contained multiple follicullar units all in one 'graft hole.' That compresses the grafts and you end up with alot of hairs all bunched into a small hole - pluggy looking. That was the 'standard' back then and I was 23 or 24 at the time. I had additional minigrafts (but much smaller amount of total hairs) in '94 and '95 before I started getting true follicular grafts in '04 w/Dr. Feller. Very hearty hairs (my 1st two very small surgeries of 100 and 120 minigrafts) but not natural at all. I still have 2 rows on each side but they are not in my frontal zone anymore. They blend in very well with my additional follicular units that surround them - even though I kept none of my native hair in my frontal 1/2 of my scalp.
  17. I have greasy/oily skin and heal well - Dr. Feller took out approximately 40 or so grafts via FUE punch in 2004. However, I have had my hairline lowered very slightly then and had my left side lowered just a tiny bit in March of '17 and will continue to refine my current hairline in my next surgeries in '18 and '19. Unless you received big 'plugs' from the 1980's removing grafts is very simple (or using electrolysis) but most surgeon's prefer not to do so on a wholesale basis in one go. That would be a process over several sessions. Again, think through what you are considering very carefully and consider the response from Dr. Konior - he's not wrong you know. He RARELY posts here unsolicited - that should tell you something for sure. peace...
  18. The pictures are okay - but you are considering serious revision/removal of grafts and frankly surgeons really need to see and understand your situation in absolute black and white clarity. That's all. For your situation several consultations are best in person. Keep in mind surgeon's may have different opinions. The completely ethical ones will give you balanced advice. I've done graft removal of frontal hairline but that was from 90's minigrafts so a well-thought-out plan that addresses now and many years into the future should be considered. Interesting case. Keep us updated.
  19. If you are serious about this I would go to a professonal photographer and do alot of very good/detailed photos and use these as your reference if you are unwilling to travel for a one on one consultation (which you should be). Anyways...a phone camera still doesn't really cut it imho.
  20. Since you have full coverage you might consider a high-end laser helmet with focus on the frontal band to mid-scalp (along w/viviscal). Very interesting problem.
  21. Yea; keep your head up. You did everything correctly yet genetics trump everything when it comes to hair loss. Give it some time and down the road you might want to re-address your hair condition. By endurance we conquer.
  22. One thing is for sure - MOST of the surgeons in India market misconceptions that pander to their citizens. It's a shame. It's best to go with pure science/#'s and pros/cons like Gasthoerer wrote; which - by the way was excellent advice.
  23. What's your camera? Those are very clear shots!
  24. Are you still working on portfolios of guys who use your services with grown out hair (temp SMP as a 'base')? Would be great to start seeing you build this portfolio as I'm sure you would get business from it if more people saw this type of treatment w/long hair (though the vast majority of your clients don't do this).
