  1. I had too much thinness around the temples on both sides after my initial procedure so I went in for a touch-up at the one year mark. I'm 3 months since my touch-up so the new hairs are just starting to poke through but I will say that I had considerable shock-loss and thinning around the top third of my head. There's just so much trauma to your head during a hair transplant, even from a small procedure, that the hairs are definitely impacted. I'm pretty sure it will all grow back (and it's already starting to recover a bit) but the past few months have definitely felt like a step backwards. That said, I'm glad I did it.
  2. Looks great! Thanks for the terrific, and detailed, write-up! You made a wise decision staying conservative. It's going to look great and you have tons of donor hair left for whatever your future brings!
  3. Put it out of your mind completely and before you know it, you'll be at 3-4 months and start to see the new sprouts popping out...that excitement more than makes up for the initial struggles and it lasts for months on end!
  4. It looks really terrific on you! Good decision!
  5. Would love to see pics! Also, how many grafts did you get? My understanding is that the Piloscope is much more limited in how many grafts can be taken, at least with a single incision. I agree with you, though...love the innovation!
  6. The grafts aren't falling out at this stage (10 day mark). They are permanently sealed into your scalp and would have to be surgically removed. It's the hairs shedding which is great! It's the beginning of the resting phase which is required before the hair starts growing for good! Don't even think about it at this point. At about 3-4 months (usually) you'll start to see your new sprouts coming in!
  7. Looks like you're going to have a fantastic result! And that price...wow!!
  8. That number sounds ridiculously high and not scientific in any way. That said, of course there are some doctors out there doing poor work. My guess is that of the recommended doctors on this site, the number of unsatisfied patients is probably pretty close to 0%. With the few misses that do happen, the recommended doctors stand behind their work and fix any issues. Lesson here - use a thoroughly vetted and site recommended doctor who practices exclusively in the field of hair transplantation, not general plastic surgery or something else. I am extremely happy with my result.
  9. Wow! Really terrific for 6 months! More growing to do but it looks night and day from where you started.
  10. My FUE doctor averages 2.8% transection rate (or less) so some of the estimates here may be a bit high for modern FUE. Harris S.A.F.E. System for FUE - Dr. James Harris, Denver | Hair Sciences of Colorado
  11. 6,000 should give you a really good result in the right doctor's hands as long as you keep your expectations in check. It won't be your 16 year old hair density but should hopefully turn out pretty good and something you'll be happy with. Best advice is to chose your doctor very wisely!!!! It all comes down to how good your doctor and his/her team and their practice is.
  12. The grafts are securely in place after 10 days and can only be removed by surgery at that point according to the only scientific study conducted so far so you should be good to go! Video: How Long After Hair Transplant Can Grafts Fall Out?
  13. It would be great for you to post some recent pics so we can see just what you are talking about. Sorry to hear things turned out so bad for you!
  14. I'm thrilled with my FUE. It was a dramatic transformation for me. You are right, though - It's all about the right doctor, for sure.
  15. Generally, bleeding is a sign that the transplanted graft dislodged so if you didn't bleed, odds are that you'll be fine. Of course, you'll know for sure in short order (although the wait is excruciatingly long!).
  16. Both are incredible. All I know is that my doctor, Jim Harris in Denver, was the 2014 Golden Follicle recipient and his work and excellence shows why! I'm glad his medical colleagues around the world recognize just how good a hair transplant doctor he is!
  17. Seems way too high to me. I had a bit over 2,000 for much more thinning than you and I'm really happy with my density and look. Of course, I had 2.5 hairs/graft which is on the high side as well as really good (thick) donor hair which helps tremendously, but your estimate still seems awfully large for your recession. Definitely get some second (and third, etc.) opinions.
  18. Dr. Jim Harris in Denver did both FUE's on me as no shave and nobody noticed a thing.
  19. Great write-up and clearly a great doctor's experience. Maybe you can post some headshots as things progress. Happy Growing!
  20. Looks like really solid density that will make for a terrific result!
  21. I had PRP at the conclusion of my first transplant as part of the standard practice of my doctor and feel it made a positive contribution to my great result and quick healing. That said, I have nothing to compare it to.
