  1. Consider Dr. James Harris in Denver. He does FUE by his own hand and is one of the pioneers in the industry. SO glad I used a pro like him!
  2. Looks great for 4 months! Lots more growing to go!
  3. Looks great! Brilliant placement of hair by the doctor with nice density up front and tapering down the density by mid-scalp where coverage isn't as critical. You're going to have a great result!
  4. Looks great! Thanks for the share. The nurse at my doctor's office said that African American hair is outstanding to transplant and provides great coverage so you're very lucky!
  5. I have no experience with Erdogan but a recent thread discussed the same thing - that he tends to have much higher graft counts than other doctors. His results seem (from the pictures) very impressive so I'm not sure what that means or if it's just his style but, of course, you have to balance using lots of grafts for thickness with holding some back in reserve for any future hairloss. I had a more conservative doctor who used just the number necessary for a great result but no more and I'm really happy knowing I have plenty in reserve for any future procedures. It's clearly a delicate balancing act!
  6. Very nice result! Congratulations! I had the same thing with a magnificent result except both of my temples were a bit thinner than I had hoped. I think there's either something up with growing as well in that region or they just need more grafts because of the part on the one side which really can show the thinness. Anyway, I went back a few weeks ago for a small touch-up to thicken up both sides around the temples and can't wait for my "final, final" result!
  7. Wow...what an impressive number of grafts for a single session with an enormous number of grafts still in reserve! Great result!!
  8. @sivy28 - You be the judge. Just got a touch-up last week to thicken up the sides a bit but I am nothing short of thrilled with my FUE results. It's a miraculous transformation. I think your sense is correct, though. It's all about selecting the right doctor. My doctor (Jim Harris in Colorado) is absolutely fantastic! I cannot recommend him highly enough.
  9. You had way more grafts than I did but I also had some shockloss in my forelock area since all of my transplants were in my first 1/3 as well. It all grew back beautifully. I'd say my forelock hair was pretty much back to where it was pre-surgery by 8-9 months. Don't lose sleep over it. It will come back strong and looks like you're going to have a tremendous result! Wow did he pack a lot of hairs in that area!
  10. Sounds like you are in great hands! Keep us apprised of your progress!
  11. Are they recommending 2500-3000 grafts or is that the max you want to do? Seems to me like you'll need a lot more to get full coverage unless you're going to leave the crown alone.
  12. You'll do fine. Been through 2 of them now and it's not that bad. The first few nights of being careful while you sleep is the hardest part but then it gets really easy from there (well, the wait for it to start sprouting is not exactly easy!).
  13. Good video. Interesting note about your lower density on the sides. I had the same thing, with much more native hair in the middle and, I'm pretty sure, slightly poorer growth on the sides. Went back for a 313 graft FUE touch-up last week to thicken up the sides a bit. You still have plenty of growing left to do so hopefully the density improves on the sides some but you look great! Keep us informed!
  14. According to a research study by Dr. Bernstein, your transplants were locked into your scalp at Day 9 (if you had scabs left and sooner if you didn't have any scabs), so at least for me, I'd massage away!
  15. It looks good but, in all honestly, I would have expected more density with that many grafts. Of course, we're looking at a top down view which skews it a bit. No doubt the end result is very dependent on the "quality" of your donor hair. You may have a low number of hairs per follicle or maybe not a lot of hair shaft thickness. And, I'm sure you still have some more growing/thickening to do as the transplanted hairs mature since you're only around the 9 month mark, so it's a bit early to judge the final result right now. I didn't have much new growth after month 9 but my hairs continued to thicken up to month 12. That said, the transformation so far from where you started is pretty dramatic and I'm sure from straight on, it looks awesome!
  16. I'm not seeing it the same way you are. I had a good number of gray hairs transplanted and they look great sprinkled into my natural hair (or what's left!). I'd rather have lots of gray hairs transplanted into the right spots than thinning/bald there so I was just thrilled to have plenty of donor hair (no matter the color) to get a great result! I wouldn't worry much about it. In a FUE, the doctor does hand select what he/she believes are the best candidates for transplant from a growing perspective, but if it worries you, I'm sure you could make a request to have the doctor pull out fewer grays as transplant candidates if you are going for a FUE. Would be interesting to see what the doctor says.
  17. Wow...very impressive follow-up from the doctor's office for a patient from 6 years ago! Really shows what a fantastic practice they have. Will be fascinating to see what you guys conclude here.
  18. Consider the short flight to Colorado and visiting Dr. Jim Harris in Denver. He is one of the leaders in the industry (he won the worldwide award for excellence in the field in 2014) and is an absolute master. No consultants either, which I loved. You get to talk directly with Dr. Harris after he does his evaluation and he does all of the heavy lifting himself during the surgery. I have no skin in the game - I'm just a very happy patient of his!
  19. If I were you, I probably wouldn't touch a thing. You may not be a good hair transplant candidate. Nobody will ever know what happened but perhaps you had poor blood-flow for the transplanted grafts to take or perhaps the doctor took hairs outside of the safe zone (although it's an excellent clinic so that seems unlikely) or maybe some other possibility. Bottom line is that you had a large procedure and not a lot of hairs are showing for it 6 years later. I'd grow your hair out a bit to cover the scar and call it a day rather than risk another procedure and potentially another sub-par result.
  20. Wow! Keep the monthly updates coming. Dramatic transformation already! Congratulations!
  21. It's a good sign. I had good early growth and then shedding and ended up with a really good result. Hopefully, you do too!
  22. Great articles and great result! Well worth it. Congratulations!
  23. Just my $.02, for whatever that's worth! I wouldn't consider 1,000 grafts terribly small. I had a 1,792 graft FUE procedure a year ago and just had a 313 graft FUE procedure this week to fill in some missing spots around my temples. The nurses at my doctors office told me the smallest they've done was 15 grafts for a widows peak correction! Now that's small! If it bothers you enough, I'd go for filling in those temples gaps but I would personally stay away from lowering your hairline. Your crown doesn't look bad but if it does start to noticeably thin at some point over the next 10-15 years, you'll likely want extra hair in reserve to fill in everything that's thinning up top rather than using them on lowering your hairline. 29 is pretty young to know where you'll end up so my thought is to be conservative and cautious.
  24. I'd say yes...remember, the transplants are designed to look fantastic but they are only about 25% of your original coverage. Dry transplanted hair looks incredible but wet you can definitely see some scalp. No worries on my end with that! I'm happy to have my hair back on top!
