  1. You've probably been thinking about surgery for many years. Find the doctor your comfortable with (preferably, one that does transplants exclusively), and just wait a little longer. No need to rush at this point. Keep saving more money and get more grafts (if needed) when you finallly have the surgery. Good luck to you.
  2. I would have to agree with"mattj". Do your homework and find a doctor that does hair surgery exclusively. If you have the resources, go with someone you feel 100% comfortable with. Let's hope you have strong donor areas and able to extract enough grafts. Best of luck and keep us posted.
  3. The only reason I had some pain issues is because I did NOT follow the doctors orders to take the pain meds. I thought I was a tough-guy and didn't need them. I did struggle one night for a couple hours but started taking the meds after that and had no problems. You must stay ahead of the pain and take as directed. After my second surgery in 2015, I took the pain meds as prescribed and had no pain at all. I weened off the prescription and onto Ibuprofen after a few days. Best of luck to you. Just remember to follow doctors orders on your prescription.
  4. I'm not a doctor but I would expect the genetic coding information would be contained within the hair/follicle tissue and not the surrounding tissue. Skilled doctors use very small punches (.8mm) to remove the graft to avoid visible scarring. There will always be a low percentage of transactions that occur. Good surgeons remove additional grafts to make up for any losses to transection. Ask your doctor about the genetic specifics.
  5. Glad you are pleased. Post some before/afters for us all to see. Sounds like Dr. Diep did a great job.
  6. Hey "Wilkinte", your hair loss is very similar to mine when I had my surgery at age 50. I'm sure Dr. Nader will do a great job. Keep us informed on this website but if you want to see how mine turned out, check out my before/afters on MyFUEhairtransplant.com. I also explain exactly what to expect every day after surgery for the first 30 days and and then weekly updates. Go to my archives on the site to September 2012. Best of luck and happy growing. You will be very pleased 4-5 months after surgery.
  7. I'm sorry for your frustration. Let's hope you're a late "grower". Also, 2,000 grafts is not a lot if you're producing a hair line AND the crown area. It seems as though the ARTAS process favors the doctor more than the patient. I'm sure that could be debated. All of my grafts were extracted and placed by the doctor at a much lower price. Best of luck. Post more pictures in a couple more months. Let's hope you show good progress at that point. I do know of a patient that showed no growth until the 7th month and then had good results.
  8. Here's a thought..... if someone is overweight, they can save money by making fewer visits to restaurants, fewer trips to the grocery store, cancel the gym membership and develop your own home fitness plan and use all the saved money and devote that to your hair transplant. How's that for a little levity?
  9. You seem to be in a tough situation. Diligently search for the right surgeon. You mention one doctor moving about 500 grafts to the crown area while repairing your scar. 500 grafts in the crown area is not a lot of grafts and I'm not sure whether you would be happy with the results. Look for a way to repair/hide the scar and possibly harvest more grafts if possible if your budget permits. Just a thought......best of luck to you.
  10. Make sure you diligently search for more information and do your "homework". Turkey is a popular spot for hair transplants with lots of competition for business. Make sure you find ligitimate before/after photos and pay a visit to the clinic if possible. Best of luck but again.....do your homework.
  11. The bottom line is....I glad you feel like the transplant procedure was successful. I'm sure you will look great in 5-6 months. I am curious regarding the implanters. It seems you're describing implanter pins for insertion of grafts. Implanter pins were used on me more than 2 years ago by Dr. Vories. Also, 12 hours is a long time for 2,600 grafts. I'm sure you were quite tired after the procedure. I'm sure your doctor wasn't tired if technicians extracted and implanted all the grafts. I've had two surgeries and Dr. Vories extracted every graft (with minimal transection rates) and inserted every graft (artistry) and has been using implanter pins for quite some time. Also, you would expect to be in the chair for around 7-8 hours for 2,600 grafts. That said, I'm sure you're procedure was successful and you have a lot to look forward to. Keep us posted in the future with your results. Thanks for such a comprehensive summary of your surgery.
  12. It's amazing how 3,000 frontal forelock grafts can totally transform someone. This guy looks much younger now. I'm sure he is quite pleased. You've demonstrated your magic and artistry once again Dr. Vories by harvesting and placing all the grafts yourself.
  13. Very nice growth rate after just 5 months Dr. Bhatti. I'm sure your patient is very happy. Thanks for sharing the photos.
  14. I couldn't agree with "pkipling" more. Great advice sir. Just make sure you do your homework on this website and ask the doctor you choose many questions. It's very important that you are totally comfortable with your doctor because you are starting a long relationship with this doctor and his/her clinic. If you're going to invest a lot of money, be willing to jump on a plane and travel to the doctor you're most comfortable with. Best of luck to you. You have a lot to look forward to. Keep us posted here on the HT network.
  15. Congratulations on your FUE surgery, you have a lot to look forward to. Ask your doctor about the use of Rogaine. Shock loss typically occurs in the areas where donor grafts were taken. For reassurance, you may want to ask your doctor about this as well. Remember....any shock loss is temporary, and your normal hair growth cycle will replace those hairs. If you're interested in seeing what to expect each day after surgery and in the coming weeks you can look at my before/afters on MyFUEhairtransplant.com Take good photos throughout your journey and occasionally post them here on this site so we can see your progress. Be patient and happy growing.
  16. It's a bit difficult to tell from your pictures but I looked very similar to you in 2012. I think you have a lot of promise and should expect nice results. You can see all of my before/afters since my surgery 5 years ago at.... MyFUEhairtransplant.com. Make sure you look at the archives and go back to 2012 to compare your current hair loss. Good luck to you. Thanks for posting on this website and keep us posted.
  17. Everyone's growth occurs at different rates. 5 1/2 months is not long. I saw a lot of growth after the 5th month. Your hair color is a positive like it was for me providing less contrast with your skin color. Also, you mentioned hair caliber. Your new growth may thicken over time. Be patient and send us some more pictures around 8 months. Good luck to you.
  18. You may not be able to expect a whole lot of results after just 4 months. Everyone's dormant period is different and rates of growth varies a lot between patients. I started to really show growth in the 4-5 month range. Be patient and stay positive and send us some pictures after 6 months. Best of luck to you.
  19. You will be fine Julius, you have so much to look forward to. Keep sending us updates.
  20. I'm sure the doctors on this site would agree that sneezing shouldn't "pop" a graft. You should be fine. Get some rest and take a vacation and lower that stress. Don't move to Kentucky where I live.....we're a nation leader in allergies but my sneezing never caused any graft issues. Best of luck to you.
  21. I'm sure if you used a reputable surgeon recommended on this site...you are fine. When I had my surgeries I recall watching a large electronic count board on the wall and casually keeping track of my grafts. I also recall drifting off to sleep for a while and waking up and noticing that I was asleep for the placement of several hundred grafts. I would think visible counters are a standard practice but maybe not for some doctors. Post some pictures if you can.
  22. Shock loss is nearly certain in all surgeries but its nothing to worry about. After a dormancy phase of 3-5 months you will see the new hairs growing nicely. After my first surgery I was seeing growth after 3 months. The growth rate was a bit slower after my second surgery. Cut your hair short for a while so folks at your workplace get used to the new look. Then schedule your FUE, take a short break from work after surgery if you can and then return to work. Most people won't even notice.
  23. Very nice results and thanks for including such comprehensive pictures and updates showing your progress. Looks like excellent results with an excellent price...U.S. $$. Looking forward to the 9 and 12 month progress report.
  24. Looks like nice results. I hope your donor area will yield the necessary grafts for the crown area. That area is always tough to fill. Good luck.
