  1. Just to clarify my position on this matter ,the bottom line is I'm a lay -man and only have anecdotal experience on how transplants look in reality i.e my own transplant . One doesn't have to be great at maths to work out that 4200 grafts will only offer so much density on a NW 5-6 as I was ..I had maybe 3 -4 hundred miniaturised hair on top which may have grown back after the transplant or not I have no idea . I guess my view is if I can get a pretty good illusion of density in pretty much all lighting situations ..that someone who is a lower NW with good hair characteristics and goes to a Doc with a proven record of dense packing without compromising the grafts ..takes blood flow ..and shock -loss of native hair into account etc they will get a better illusion than I have achieved as happy as i am with my result ..believe me to go from a NW 5-6 to being able to comb my hair back in a style which suits my features is pretty amazing ..and I have had guys say to me they hope they have hair as good as mine when they are my age .. I feel Melvin was correct in starting this thread as recently there have been guys showing their results with hair parted under harsh lighting which even guys with no hair loss hair their hair wouldn't look great . Just to add if I stood under a harsh light with my hair wet and spread part of course it wouldn't look great ..but the reality is no-one sees me in that situation and as soon as the hair begins to dry and is combed back I'm good to go .
  2. Thanks Cosmo , as I have said in previous posts I could handle losing my hair up to a point but the full horseshoe look was just too much ..fair play to guys who don't let it bother them ...
  3. As a NW 5-6 and after having 4200 FUE grafts over 4 years ago ..of course there's an element of illusion with my hair ..and I would need the crown to be addressed for the illusion to be conplete ..although as I am 57 this year do I really want to bother as toppik does a good job iof covering the crown ..and if I used dermatch as well I'm sure nobody would notice any thinning even in the crown . Attached photos taken today ..I guess it all depends how do you define an illusion ..If anything less than native density is the criteria well I guess yea all transplants are an illusion.. OK only pics and video ..but some of the lower NW's transplants as shown lets say by Lorenzo and Couto look pretty damn close . First and second pic pre op... third pic hair slightly damp .no toppik. fourth pic the lightest sprinkling of toppik ..I did a 3.5 year post op thread anyone can check out that post ..all pics without topik there ...
  4. HI Payam thank for the update .. In my opinion the left side definitely seems to be lacking density and will need extra grafts to reach the desired result ,why that happened I have no idea ..in saying that the way you show the result isn't the best tbh ...you should use a comb with a the end where the teeth are close together and not that brush you are using which only aids in spreading the hair apart and not together like a comb does ...I have to be honest and although you obviously didn't have a a total success the rest of your hair looks pretty thick ..maybe if you could do the same with the right side so we can get a better idea of what the density in the hair-line there is compared to the left will give a better overall picture . I think you have shown concern about having a second surgery because you are worried that the new grafts won't take because of damage to the scalp ..I see nothing in your scalp that suggests there would be a problem .. But obviously get a Doc's opinion .
  5. In my opinion given the vagaries of a having a hair transplant someone should only opt for one if there is a reel need . Some people would say no-one needs a hair transplant and it's just vanity etc of course there is always a vanity aspect, but for a lot of guys losing their hair can be insidious and over time eat into their confidence and have a detrimental effect on their life and hold them back in all sorts of situations ,I was one of those guys, now I am happy as a pig in the proverbial , for me the breaking point was when I developed the full horse-show pattern which I reached in my mid -forties . Hair transplants shouldn't be for a 23 year old who wants to take better instagram photos.. that kind of patient will never be happy anyway ..and any reputable clinic should think seriously about offering hair transplant surgery to them . Just to add the second best scenario after obviously not losing ones hair is to accept it and move on with your life as millions of guys do. ..I have a friend who is 35 and i would say a NW 4-5 and and has great donor ..but he wouldn't have a hair transplant if you paid him ...he is married ..a good job etc he is a lucky man ...
  6. Hi Payam be good if you could also take some pics from a more than say just a foot away sometimes showing pics with more distance can give a better overall impression of how the transplant looks ...of course close ups are good as well ..if you can't get someone to take them for you ..you can use the timer .
  7. Yes I meant it doesn't look like the kind of hairline that will never recede ,when I was in my mid twenties I had tons of hair but if I scraped the hairline back it was evident the hair-line at some point would recede ...I'm only going by the top down pic you are showing with the hair pulled back ..but the fact you have been on fin for 3 years and had no sides is good and hopefully that will stop any further recession , I would wait another 3-4 years if I were you ..see how things develop .
  8. From what I can tell form your hair-line it is not a keeper I'm afraid to say ,in saying that your hair look great at the moment and in no way detracts form your overall looks ...I think you would do more damage than good with a hair transplant at this stage.. hold off for a few years and maybe try fin to see if it works for you ..I have heard that it can help keep hair at the front and the hair -line as well as the crown
  9. No Had growth before 5 months ..but but it kept on getting better right up the 18 month mark ...hard to compare with you in some ways because you had a lot of hair before your second op compared to me I only had maybe 3 -4 hundred miniaturised hairs on top so I didn't have the worry of shock -loss of native or transplanted hairs to worry about .. Looking at you pics you have a defined hair-line beginning to take shape ,and noticeable although thin hair growing behind it ..all you can do is wait it out and try not to worry too much ..I just can't see anything to be overly worried with at this stage ..
  10. don't worry ...I have shown my pics on here at 5 months where the growth was starting to be noticeable because a lot of guys were freaking out about their growth at 5 months ..I will look and see if i can find a 3 month pic ...I know it's stressful man but honestly 3 months is just the beginning . Just read through your post ..understandable why you are extra nervous as you had an unsatisfactory transplant before ...the work looks good with Asmed I'm sure at 4 months you will notice the start of the growth ...
  11. Even to use the word discouraged is crazy at 3 months... Der3kk do you really expect a noticeable cosmetic improvement at 3 months ? have you not done any research into growth timelines ?...
  12. Of course and unfortunately you do get cases where a patient has been botched and no need to wait 12 months to see the final result ,but there has been a lot of cases recently where guys are freaking out at 5 months and seem to have know idea of the time line where growth is concerned, and unfortunately some guys just put simply have unrealistic expectations ,this is where the clinics are at fault in my opinion by just showing their home runs ,the average guy ,well, will get an average result which in most cases is an improvement from where they started . I personally would not have bothered with a transplant if my hair -loss remained at a NW 3-4 ,it's only when in my mid -forties that the full horse -shoe shape developed and I was a nw 5-6 that I thought enough is enough . Getting back on topic there is n nothing wrong with a patient naming a clinic just better to have contacted the Doc first with his/her concerns I just think a patient has to box clever if he is unhappy with a result and not come out all guns blazing ,and of course as Bill says the clinic have to be given a chance to reply and give their side of the story .
  13. Had a transplant just over 4 years ago ,never took fin , hair still going strong ,I personally wouldn't go near the drug that's my choice ,plenty of guys swear by it and that's their choice , I guess I had less to gain anyway by taking the drug as most of the hair on the top of my head was pretty much gone pre -op ,in saying that some people recommended it to keep the donor as strong as possible ,but again after having 4200 FUE grafts extracted my donor looks in pretty good shape .
  14. I agree with all of the above ,just to say it annoys the hell out of me when a patient voices their concerns about a result lets say at 6 months and posters demand to know the Doc's name ,the concerned patient has to think of himself first and work out the best way to move forward with clinic to resolve any issues ,of course the best course of action is to speak with the clinic first but sometimes a patient wants advice on here as well , at 12 months if a unhappy patient hasn't been treated correctly by the clinic and has sent photos to them etc, then it is a different matter ,but we have all seen on this site patients being trigger happy way before the final result is apparent .
  15. Not quite following your logic there Paddy regarding the concerns some of us have regarding the new post on this thread , it just looks very suspicious a new poster resurrecting an old thread ,most new posters comment on current threads or want advice about their situation ,every clinic has at least a few subpar results on this site , why did he pick that particular one ?
  16. Absolutely do not go back to the same place ,going there once is understandable , but going there twice would be unforgivable and you would have only yourself to blame for making things a lot worse .
  17. The poster is almost certainly working for a rival clinic in India I would suggest, happens all the time ,fortunately most of them seem pretty inept and it stands out a mile
  18. I would say yes ,I have never heard of any clinic saying alcohol has to given up for a year post op ,but as I said common sense will tell you for your general health drinking too much is not good ,but a few social drinks won't do any harm ,but as always if you are that worried just contact your clinic and see what they say about it to put your mind at rest .
  19. I had a glass of beer in the evening post op ,then I waited about 10 days ,then had 5 beers on a night out ,had a great result .Just common sense really wouldn't advise going on the piss for a few weeks ,after a month you will be more than fine having a few social drinks ,the main advice from clinics is to do with pre op where drinking is concerned as alcohol thins the blood ,after that about 10 days seems to be the general advice before imbibing .
  20. Try to avoid people saying they wouldn't be happy with your 5 month growth ...you look right on track to me as Bjorn says just the beginning of growth .
  21. Since when has 5 month post op been anyway near the final result ?
  22. Hi Bill , I don't think anyone has suggested that Clinics showing recent work is the only criteria for being a member on this site ,but it is one of the site's criteria for a very good reason, how is a potential patient going to know if clinic/Doc is performing to the same standards as when they were first recommended ? I have to say there are Docs on the recommended list who I never seen post on here any results in the 4 years I have been on this site .
