Advice for Hair Loss Sufferers Considering Hair Transplant Surgery

My Story

  1. Hello, I began losing my hair almost 10 years ago. Needless to say, it was a horrifying experience throughout. One doesn't really fully grasp the trauma of getting a change in appearance before it actually happens. The initial years were difficult for me. I was about 22 years old. And for someone that young, a balding look spells disaster. I became shy, apprehensive of socializing and conscious about myself. Eventually, I did start accepting baldness as a part and parcel of life. As a guy, you really aren't expected to focus on your appearance much. I wasn't going to be anything different. By providence, I joined Eugenix Hair Sciences as a Tele -medical consultant. Fairly recently, about 6 months and working here now. The doctors did suggest me transplantation. However, I never took it as seriously. Now, after a while, I finally began to think that maybe I could give it a try. Like who wouldn't want to try something when you can clearly see other people getting it done with positive results! I have been seeing the results of Eugenix in front of my own eyes on a daily basis and I started feeling that I should also get the procedure done. I don't think I'm particularly afraid of the pain or anything like that. After all I'm a tough guy (😜). But surprisingly, the surgery wasn't painful. I was 100% sure and expecting this procedure to be painful. That being said, lying down doing nothing was the tough part. In the design and planning of my procedure Dr Arika , Dr Pradeepand Dr Alok were involved. The frontal slits were made by Dr Pradeep and Dr Arika. Rest of the slits were completed by Dr Alok. The extraction of the grafts were done by Dr Alok. Few times Dr Arika and Dr Pradeep also supervised. I got 3024 grafts done for a good coverage of my frontal zone with adequate density. I also got my temples completely reconstructed. I am planning to share my progress throughout now. (I have interacted with many patients who have come from this forum to Eugenix for their procedure. Now it is my turn to share my story with others! I am taking pics of my scalp daily to keep a track of the procedure to document it for one year.) I have completed my head wash and now have started taking Finasteride as well for the minituarising hair. I am very excited to see the progress in my hair growth. And even more privileged that I get to share it with you all. It feel very supportive that there are people out there who genuinely care and would partake in my journey. I am going to keep you guys updated.
  2. This 37-year-old man was Grade 5 Vertex on the Norwood Hamilton Scale of baldness when he came to us for his transplantation procedure. We gave him 2509 grafts for his procedure with adequate density and coverage. All the donor grafts were taken from the scalp donor only. Above we have exhibited his results after 6 months in which you can witness the complete change in look and the great density that he has achieved. You can also see his results after a duration of 3 months where he had already started to experience the start of his hair growth. He is also taking medications to preserve his pre-existing hair.
  3. This 33-year-old man was Grade 3A on the Norwood Hamilton Scale of baldness when he came to us for his transplantation procedure. We gave him 1530 grafts for his procedure with adequate density and coverage. All the donor grafts were taken from the scalp donor only. Above we have exhibited his results after 12 months in which you can witness the complete change in look and the great density that he has achieved. You can also see his results after a duration of 2 years where the density is maintained. He is also taking medications to preserve his pre-existing hair.
  4. The index patient was 36 years old and was Grade VI on the Norwood Hamilton Scale of baldness. We gave him 3505 grafts for the coverage of his FRONTAL ZONE with adequate density out of which 500 grafts were taken from the beard. His crown will be transplanted later when he is ready for it. For the crown and the mid-scalp, we prescribed him medications such as Finasteride and multivitamins His long hair hides most of the balding in the crown completely. At 4 months, he saw a complete look change. Within 8 months, there was even more density on his scalp. By the 10th month, as shown in the video, he got absolute density and his hair looks absolutely amazing.
  5. We are glad to bring to you the updated pictures of Mr. Abhinay Singh. You can see his 7th month update in the video. With 4596 grafts, he no longer resembles the Grade V situation that was there just some time ago. He looks completely different and his density has become even thicker. He is also taking medications for the preservation of his pre-existing hair.
  6. This 38-year-old young man was Grade 5V on the Norwood Hamilton Scale of baldness when he came to us for his transplantation procedure. We gave him 3570 for his procedure with adequate density and coverage. We covered the hairline zone, crown area, and the temples. All the donor grafts were taken from the scalp donor only. By the 7th month, he had a complete look change and appreciable density. After 11 months, his scalp looks completely different with thick beautiful hair on his scalp.
  7. This 28-year-old young man was Grade II on the Norwood Hamilton Scale of baldness when he came to us for his transplantation procedure. 10. Hello everyone! So I have been reading a lot of material on this forum. I have definitely received a tremendous amount of information from here. It has helped me a lot during my immediate post transplant phase. I believe that my own experience with hair transplantation could help others who are seeking the same too. Therefore, I have decided to post the entire documented journey of my transplantation procedure here on this amazing forum. Here it goes: I started to lose hair by the age of 23. The loss was very gradual and it was difficult for me to have noticed the decline in my density. Eventually, when the hairline stared to recede drastically and my look started to change for the worse, I started to panic. I never knew anything about hair. I was scared that it might be a disease or some form of disorder. But even that was not enough to compel me to visit a doctor and understand the situation. I started with different home remedies and self imagined cures in the forms of advertised shampoos or oils. However, the hair loss did not stop. I started to notice more and more hair come off every time I combed my hair or even if I wet it. The worst part was that I was losing all confidence because of my hair situation. I started using hair products and other styling products to help hide my baldness. But as most of you might know, that doesn't really work. However, to come to the point of all of the above, it was only after I met Dr. Arika Bansal and Dr. Pradeep Sethi that they actually told me the honest truth about hair loss intervention. They made me understand the why and the how. And also what should be done to address the issue. For the already bald area, it was too late. But for my pre existing hair, I was recommended Finastride at a dosage of 0.5 to 1 mg. I swear by this medication because i have 0 hair loss since I have started taking that medication. For the bald area, the doctors gave me a transplantation of 2815 grafts. I knew about hair transplantation prior to this too. But I was not sure whether i would be able to go through with it. I was definitely scared of the pain. I couldn't quite bring myself to go for the procedure. However, the procedure was painless, contrary to my belief. It was simple. But it was lengthy (oh well!). And you gotta do what you gotta do. So now through the pictures, I shall show you the progress of my results.
  11. The index patient was 45 years when he came to us for a transplantation procedure. He was Grade 5A on the Norwood Hamilton Scale of baldness. We gave him 3019 grafts for his transplantation procedure and covered his frontal zone. After 5 months he started seeing good growth on his scalp. After 2.5 years, we have displayed his results in the video where he has a complete change in look. He has a very good density and is extremely satisfied with his results.
  12. The index patient was 45 years old. He was Grade VI on the Norwood Hamilton Scale of baldness. We gave him 5445 grafts with adequate coverage and density. 4545 grafts were taken from the scalp and 900 grafts were taken from the beard. After a year, we witnessed amazing results on his scalp. What we have tried to portray is a very realistic representation of the results one can expect.
  13. We had a 62 year old male patient with a Grade IV A baldness on the Norwood Hamilton Scale. The baldness had stabilized for many years and was non - progressive. For this individual we performed 3491 grafts. His hair started growing within 3 months and by 5 months the density was very good. By 12 months the complete results were visible and he enjoyed a great density. A special feature in this case was that he had 99% grey hair. It is difficult to perform a hair transplant in such cases. However, over the years, we have mastered the art of transplanting grey hair or light pigmented hair by performing transplantation on a lot of individuals with grey hair and a lot of Caucasians. Over the years we have accumulated an experience of performing transplant with light pigmented hair or infact no pigment at all.
  14. A 58-year male having baldness going up to Grade IV and having severe crown thinning came to us for restoration. His temple points were also involved. So we did the hairline, filled the frontal area, we also did the temple and the crown with adequate density. By 8 months, he had grown a lot of hair with good density. But after 12 months when he sent his pictures after lockdown while combing his hair, it looks very great. His results look fantastic. He had some pre-existing hair that required to be prevented from going off due to baldness. We have prescribed him the medications and he is taking them.
  15. The index patient was a young 32-year-old man who had Grade 2A + Crown baldness. He was worried about his receding hairline and the hair loss in the crown also. We planted a total of 2250 grafts in his case. Five hundred singles were placed while designing the hairline. We also planted some grafts on his crown. He has also prescribed medications for the preservation of his pre-existing hair. By 10 months, he has had a complete change in look and a good density of hair on his scalp. In the video, we can witness the progress of this patient. The density will continue to increase until the 12th month.
  16. Who in the world wouldn't want to have the thickest head of hair? Everyone right?! When we imagine our ideal self, aesthetically we call have a particular set of characteristics that we have formed in place. When due to some or the other reason any of our idealized aesthetic forms are challenged or distorted, agitation is anything but natural to be experienced. For this same reason, many a times a lot of individuals are not able to accept the fact that they will not be able to get the density, coverage or hairlines that they find ideal. The expectations rising from their desire to achieve a particular aesthetic does not match the practical availability of the donor and the requirement of the recipient area. There are so many individuals who would rather not go for the transplantation altogether because of this one factor. The turmoil arises from a deeper sense of being and not just a superficial necessity to just find a coverage. Hair transplantation being the cosmetic procedure that it is, can still be a source of satisfaction and happiness to such patients if they can level their expectations. Some of these patients will have never even imagined that a simple change in look can give them the confidence that they have been lacking only because they have never looked at the situation from any other perspective other than theirs. Some are pleasantly surprised at their own change in attitude once they get the results. It may not be as dense and low hairlined as they had imagined but with the correct artistry, their facial features get enhanced and it gives them a situation which is obviously better than what they had. For this to be achieved, thorough expertise and intelligence is mandatory. The key is to tune one's mind into what is possible. Most of the times, we research about the credentials of the clinic, the results they have produced and so on. But we hardly give any time to research and think over what is it exactly that we want and what is the possibility. It is extremely important to ascertain what we are comfortable to carry for the rest of our lives and to visualize ourselves in the proposed possibility. We invest a lot of capital, emotions and trust when we go in for the procedures. And we must make sure that we are ready for what is to come when the results show up. This is also the responsibility of the doctor to visually demonstrate to the individuals and show them the kind of coverage and density that they would have along with the design of the hairline etc. on individuals with similar cases. Hair transplantation is all about achieving satisfaction for the patient as well as the doctor. For that to happen, we need to have a realistic ideal self image. A realistic expectation can always lead to satisfaction and a peace of mind.
  17. A conservative hair transplant is when new hair grafts are planted in between the gaps of already existing hair. We performed a similar transplant procedure for the index patient who was was 50 years old and who had diffussive hair loss from the hairline till the crown. He received 5055 grafts for his transplantation procedure. Out of these, 4055 grafts were taken from the scalp and 1000 grafts were taken from the beard. It is usually very difficult to plant new grafts in between the existing hair but with 8x magnification, we were able to meticulously fill up the gaps. We also gave him Finasteride and Minoxidil which would strengthen his pre existing hair and make them thicker. After 3 months the hair started to grow and after 5 months there was a complete change in look. By the 9th month, he had gained a very thick density and good volume. It needs a lot of precision, experience and magnification to plant new grafts in between two already existing grafts so that the existing hair do not enter into shock stage or get damaged. With more than 6000 cases under our belt, Eugenix Hair Sciences has a vast experience of planting in between existing hair not only in males but also females.
  18. Eight Months update: Hair Transplant at Eugenix Anil Saini, 32 years of age with progressive baldness (going up to NW 5), joined Eugenix Hair Sciences, Delhi/NCR as a medical counselor. Soon he realized that without hair it is only “theoretical” to try to impart the knowledge upon the prospective patients over phone/mails and not wise from a sales point of view to meet the patients in person inside the office. (Like a plump guy can not be a gym trainer, a bald guy might not appeal to patients as a representative of a hair restoration center.) Eugenix Hair Sciences – a phenomenon sweeping the hair transplant industry with its Direct Hair Transplantation technique has become an enigma in the hair transplant industry. With more than 6000 successful cases so far, they have proved their consistency without a doubt. Dr Pradeep Sethi and Dr Arika Bansal with their skill and passion have emerged as forerunners in the hair transplant industry. Eugenix is changing the face of hair transplantation for men and women with world-class FUE instrumentation, facilities, and a team of dedicated professionals.
  19. Mr. Anup Jalota is a 65-year-old individual whose donor was thin and depleted. He had been wearing a wig to better suit his camera personality. It was a challenge for us to match his screen personality and match the same looks even after the transplant. We could extract 3000 grafts from the back scalp donor and 4000 odd grafts were taken from the beard. The beard hair, though mostly grey, merged well with the scalp hair. Within 2 months, his hair had started growing. Within 4 months he was in a reality TV show, Bigg Boss. By the 7th month, he achieved outstanding growth. After a year of the completion of his procedure, he is enjoying very good results. The point to be noted in this case is that since most of his hair are grey and he is not coloring his hair it tends to look thinner. But if he colors the hair, the light gets obstructed by the blackened hair and thus they appear denser. It was, however, a challenge to recreate a look similar to his wig look which was very dense and thick. However, as we can see his full results, it looks thick, natural, and dense.
  20. Planting hair in the hairline zone and the area immediately behind the hairline zone in the frontal area is challenging because that is the frontal part and gateway to the face. The right kind of hair - like the hairline has thinner caliber hair, lightly pigmented hair, irregular hair, and slow-growing hair; are important in the hairline zones. In the temples the hair has to be acutely placed, the curl should be upside down, etc. It is very important to ensure such factors in the temple area. While doing so, one also has to be always mindful of the potential progression of baldness in the individual. This is why the hairline should not be too low or too high but rather it should be very judicious. It is very important that all of these factors should be kept in mind when designing and constructing the hairline.
  21. A 40-year-old man had his baldness going up to Grade III on the Norwood Hamilton Scale and it was progressing. He wanted a good density and fortunately, he had good hair and his donor was thick. His temples were also receding and it is difficult to do the temple areas as the direction of the hair and the angles are different. We performed his procedure and by 5 months he was very happy with the progress. Now close to 2 years, he is still enjoying his fabulous results and has become a close friend to the clinic.
  22. We, at Eugenix Hair Sciences, pay utmost attention to the cosmosis of the donor. Therefore, we always strive to take the grafts from the donor in a manner where there is no evidence of the extraction after the procedure. The donor looks the same after a few months as it had looked before extraction. The meticulous attention, diligence, the use of the finest punches, the strategic extraction from the permanent zone, the experience and skill set that we have garnered over the years with more than 6000 patients have helped us in preserving the aesthetics of the donor. The donor in the end looks like as if nothing has been extracted from it. Please subscribe to our channel and ring the bell icon to keep yourselves updated with our videos. We shall be continuously posting new and scientific videos which will help all the patients gain better insight into the hair transplant procedures.
  23. Mrs. Singh, a 70 years old lady had got frontal fibrosing alopecia, FFA, which was stable. She was diagnosed based upon the clinical history and biopsy. It was stable for ten years. We took the case up and we did 2500 grafts on the front and we did less density than normal - around 25 to 30 grafts per sqm were planted and after 7 months the results started growing and by 1 year it was amazing. We have been following her up for the last 3 years and the results have been consistent. Hair restoration is not only an option for men, but also women. Surgical hair restoration is a great option for women born with naturally high hairlines as well.To summarize, one has to make the right diagnosis and you have to ensure that there is no disease activity for many years. If you do less density and you follow the patient up, then it would ensure a long-lasting result. This is our experience.
  24. So I have final made this decision to get my HT done by Eugenix Hair Sciences today. I have been losing hair for years now and I feel that this is the right time to get take this step. I choose @Dr. Sethi & Dr. Bansal after going through so many blog posts in this forum. I have checked out the results of the patient and not just the before and after pics, but their entire journey and their updates. I have the surgery planned today and will be posting my post op pics as well as pics before the operation was done.
  25. REGRETTING HAIR TRANSPLANT ! We have started getting more than we could imagine and handle “Regret Hair Transplantation” cases! These cases are typically 1) Unnatural looks 2) Unnatural hair line position 3) Recognisable “Hair Jobs” 4) Progressive baldness with bald “halo” around the new fake looking hair 5) Abnormal temple points and unnatural angle, direction and “curl” of the hair. It is always difficult to fix these cases, .....most of them have gone to some extent in depression and social recluse....Their initial enthusiasm has turned into Regrets... In last 1 year, we must have done more than 100 repair cases, and we do fear handling these cases for many reasons. The most important being, these are DIFFICULT to do! Extracting the grown hair from the the frontal area and then ensuring an invisible scar on the face is very very challenging. And on pigmented skins along with the risk of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation due to sun exposure, it is much more challenging and difficult to take the responsibility of a great outcome on the “FRONTAL” donor area! We pray, patients do a long research and “Do it Once, but Do it Right!”
