  1. Less risky in the sense that you should be left with additional donor area to correct any mistakes. For the price of a plane ticket and hotel it is worth travelling to see the best.
  2. Bosely has a bad reputation - do a search on here and you won't find many positives. Canada and northern states have far better Drs, e.g. Rahal, Shapiro Medical Group, Hasson & Wong, Konior, Keller, Panine, Feller, True & Dorin....
  3. In short: - The best results seen have been a combination of Minoxidil and Finasteride. Minoxidil is good at retaining and regrowing hair, Finasteride at preventing further loss. Effectiveness is generally 60% and 80% of men respectively. - Finasteride results take 12-18months, Minoxidil generally shorter i.e. 4-6months. - Minoxidil is less of a hassle than it used to be thanks to the Foam version. - Finasteride is usually sold (for hairloss) in a 1mg tablet form called Propecia. The most popular generic version from Indian based Pharmacuetical company, Cilpa, is called Finpecia (also 1mg Finasteride). - To save money, some people buy Proscar tablets. These are used to treat prostate cancer and contain 5mg of Finasteride. People choose to cut them into quarters and take an approximate 1.25mg daily dose. - The recommended hairloss prevention dose is 1mg per day. However, some peopl vary the dose, e.g. Mon-Wed-Fri only, every other day, 0.5mg instead of 1mg....there are many variations. I would recommend starting with 0.25mg Finpecia every other day purely based on my own experience. Any side effects and you can stop and will return to normal after a short period.
  4. Thanks 'Jerry'...!! Your post reads way differently to how most people describe their HTs. It's your first few posts and I've seen many people try (and fail!) to pass themselves off as genuine patients. Yours sounds too much like a sales pitch.
  5. I looked at this guy's post op. Shocking. Hitzig - sounds like the name of a Nazi war criminal....
  6. Is that you Dr Epstein???!!! A suspicious couple of posts I must say.
  7. Dr K always gets the placement of the 1s, 2s and 3s spot on. This result takes 20 years off the patient!
  8. Never heard of that doc but his Before/After photos look pretty average. I've seen far better. They can be the best placer of hair in the world but if they can't design a natural looking hairline then what's the point... I think you have to weigh up you age, probable future loss, and how much it bugs you as to whether you decide to go through with a HT.
  9. Great choice, can't wait to see the result in 12 months If I go through with a HT I would choose him like a shot, but at the moment I'm trying the meds.
  10. Sorry to say it but your donor area looks a bit sparse to me. If you were to attempt a HT I would only go with FUE. On a more positive note you have a good shaped head to embrace the buzzed look - unlike my own head which would look terrible!! There's a guy who works for Dr Bisanga who had FUE several times including body/beard hair I think. He has a good result but while it gives the illusion of a decent head of hair it needs to be kept buzzed. Assuming your donor is better than I think it is then you could go for that approach.
  11. I'm sure we do but it would be difficult to find a doc willing to prescribe it for hairloss, not that I've ever tried
  12. You could try Dr. Damkerng Pathomvanich in Thailand. That's not a million miles from Australia and the strength of the AUS$ means you could get a cost effective result.
  13. 1. from the picture attached, is it realistic to be able reconstruct my hairline and have a full looking head of hair? Probably not but you could have a pretty good front hairline, decent mid scalp blended into the crown 2. what are the advantages of travelling to the USA (Bernstein/Shapiro/Feller/Rahal), Canada (Hassan and Wong) or staying the UK (Farjo)? More choice going to the US. I think a lot of this game is about finding a doctor you are comfortable with, trust, and is on the same wavelength in terms of your goals. 3. what are the main factors to try and decide between the different Doctors and any questions that I should ask in consultations? All of the docs recommended on here have consitent results but I would say ask to see examples similar to your own case and try to meet those patients in person. By 'slit' I guess you mean 'strip' method. This is where they take a thin strip of scalp from the back of the head, dissect the grafts individulaly under a microscope and then plant them in your bald area one-by one. The other method, Follicular unit extraction, takes hairs individually from the back of the head using a small punch tool. This is obviously more time consuming, but avoids having a strip-scar at the back of the head (most patients get spot-scars instead).
  14. Hi there, A lot of clinics recommend trying finasteride and regaine foam for at least 12 months before proceeding with a HT. The reasons are that: - You could be a lucky one who regrows a lot of lost hair (it is rare but does happen). - You will find out whether you have side effects. Being able to take the medications means you have more options when it comes to deciding your HT 'game plan'. Feriduni and Bisanga are generally considered great surgeons. i don't know much about Prohair but they have posted good results on other forums. You might want to consider Dr De Reys who used to be the lead Dr at Prohair. he is also based in Belgium. Forget about these surgeons in Denmark. It's too much of a gamble.
  15. Transplanted hair should be DHT immune hair so Finasteride has little effect on it. So as Spanker says it only helps the native thinning hair
  16. I've been on it for just over 2 months combined with Finpecia. I've experienced less shedding. Less hairs in the shower and hardly any on the pillow. My hairline looks more uniform and dense although still nowhere near good enough to forget about a HT!
  17. Stan Collymore? He would have the balls to do it Alan Smith Ian Wright Dion Dublin Neil Ruddock Warren Barton (pundit in the US) John Scales Tim Sherwood Danny Mills Dean Ashton (not sure he has been a pundit) Paul Merson Chris Waddle Alan Shearer is abroad Lee Dixon is in the UK but currently on BBC in Manchester studios
  18. Only others I could think of were Matt Le Tissier or Paul Merson as they both appear on Sky Sports from time to time. They still have decent hair though as far as I can remember. Gareth Southgate?
  19. Personally I think you have to sub divide this into 2 categories: 1)Those that do a maximum of circa 1,500 grafts FUE; and 2)Those who do larger sessions, i.e. 3000-4000. For example, I don't think I've ever seen a 2000+ FUE-only from Feller.
  20. You can get Avodart or Generic Dutasteride shipped in via the goldpharma website (not allowed to post a link) I think it is about ?1 a tablet
  21. 21 is very young but these Docs you mention are ethical and won't give you any bull. Dr Konior seems like a great guy. I sent him some photos of my case and he kindly replied within 24hrs.
  22. I think the moral of the story is that if $1,500 is a meaningful amount of money to you then you should always ask what the terms are you are signing up to. I know I would. I'm not sure Bob will get any joy out of the small claims court if this was paid to a clinic outside of the European Union.
  23. I doubt it is Alan Shearer. Lee Dixon could do with a few grafts. Definately not Robbie Savage! He is welsh of course
  24. That is cheap, too cheap for my liking. No personal experience of him but Dr De Reys (who used to head up the Pro Hair cliinc in Belgium) offers 2500 grafts for about 7000EUR. From what I know he seems to have a good deal of FUE experience. There's a chap on here who posted his results recently. Dr Bisanga would be in the ball park figure of 10,000EUR for that number of grafts.
  25. I've only been researching HTs for about a year but what I've learnt is that AA should be avoided. Dr Antonio Armain had a good reputation in the early days until he 'franchised' his business and now employs a number of doctors to do the work for him. He only offers FUE these days. You would be better off picking one of the recommended docs on this site.
