  1. Does anyone know how to tell the difference between newly transplanted hair growth vs re-growth of shock loss hair. Is there a difference in texture? How do you tell them apart?
  2. Do you have fine or coarse hair? It will make a big difference in terms of how dense it should be backed. Coarse hair will give better coverage with fewer grafts than fine hair and curly hair would give better coverage than straight hair. A lot of factors. Do you have any pics?
  3. Sorry to hear that Melvin. How long did it take to recover? Was the only symptom you had was loss of smell?
  4. Some have a few grafts start growing immediately post HT. Some can even have really early growth a few weeks post HT. However, it seems the vast majority will start to see grafts popping through starting between 3-4 months. They don't usually all pop through at once since they are all independent and have their own cycles. There also seems to be a role with blood circulation as it helps with hair growth.
  5. I agree with the others here. Give Minoxidil and Finasteride a try for about 6-12 months to help stabilize the loss. If you have no sides continue with Finasteride as it is should most likely be helpful. After that do some consults for a HT procedure and have a long term plan. You may need more than 1 procedure or you may opt for a mega session with either Hasson and Wong or Eugenix. Both have outstanding results are known for mega sessions.
  6. On his channel he also made mention of topical Dutasteride expected to be available via an Indian pharma company later this year.
  7. Has the first two been FUT or FUE? How many grafts total? I'm also considering beard for my crown.
  8. Don't worry about the donor either. I think Melvin has posted examples of what his donor looked like post FUE but it all recovered. If you also search under member Spex he has pics of extreme donor shock loss which all came back.
  9. Yes, it is def the perfect time. Looking forward to your thread. Was this in an area previously not transplanted or was this a second pass over an existing area? I've heard sometimes a second pass takes longer to start growth but then other have said it came in the same as the first.
  10. Shock loss to natives is scary and it happens to a lot more people apparently then mentioned. To most people it's not too bad but others (approximately 5%) experience a lot. This apparently even happens to previously transplanted hair. I searched the forums and found so many examples from other members. I've attached screenshots of a few recent ones. It seems to occur more when hair is transplanted between a lot of existing hair, surgical trauma and anesthesia (epi which is used to control the bleeding). It seems to almost always grow back though from everything I've been told and have read. There was also a study done on this, you can read about it here. Hopefully this post also helps others going through the same. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5839894/#!po=56.6667 I'm attaching a few things to help calm your nerves cause it's really tough going through it.
  11. Exciting times. Must be so happy to finally get past all that waiting. Waiting for the big day but not knowing exactly when it is. Well it's here now. Happy growing. This was your second procedure correct?
  12. Amazing. Lucky you. Are you seeing growth in the front or mid scalp? Don't forget to update us with pics.
  13. Did you recently start Finasteride or Minoxidil? That would probably be the reason.
  14. Your mid scalp and crown looks quite good still. Do you feel some grafts didn't shed in comparison to the front? Your hair texture also seems coarse which should give you a great result. Looking forward to future updates.
  15. It normally takes about a year to see a noticeable difference. I had started Finasteride many years ago about 6 months prior toy surgery and I noticed a difference in my crown.
  16. If you just started on Finasteride I feel that you should see much improvement in about a year's time and you wl be happy you didn't end up getting your crown done at this time. If you have no sides just remain consistent with Finasteride it does work really well. Another month or so and you should hopefully start to see some growth kick in.
  17. I mean I could feel it with my hands not at the top layer but below the scalp cause I believe there was some scar tissue built up below but when looking at it you'd never be able to tell. If I shaved my hair you'd be able to see but if I just lifted my hair around the scar it was difficult to notice the scar. Hope that helps.i wouldn't worry about it too much it's rare to end up with a raised scar.
  18. Looks good. You have come a long way from all the issues you had to deal with in the past. Did Eugenix advise how many more grafts they can extract? After that you can always add in some SMP and it should give good coverage. Which clinics did you go to in the past? Did you ever see a dermatologist to see if there was any underlying scalp issues which could have caused the grafts to not grow?
  19. I was worried about shock loss after my second procedure as I had some shock loss in the donor area and quite a bit in the recipient area as well. What I've learned from other posts and members in this forum is that shock loss is highly unpredictable. It occurs from surgical trauma and the use of ephinephrine. From other members and internet articles it seems that it always grows back though between 3-4 months on avg unless the hair was miniturized to a point where it would have been lost in a year's time.
