Just by way of update, I am booked in to have my procedure with Dr Cooley this summer.

I cannot wait to have this hairline repair completed, as it feels like people are constantly staring at my head thinking somethings not quite right there lol

Anyway the plan is to draw a new higher hairline, extract the worse mulit grafts in terms of angle etc, then refine them under microscope and replace further back in hairline. Then use some more grafts from the donor area which will likely include some nape hair to soften it up.

This will be my third surgery so praying that this time it will be a success, third times the charm and all that :)

Hey HairNTear,

Did you have 2 separate procedures for the repair?  Did Dr. Cooley remove the grafts during one procedure and then a few months later  due FUT?

Hi @Whatever101

Nope this was just one procedure where Dr Cooley removed grafts via FUE & some electrolysis. Further details are noted earlier on in this thread.

He did mention in our consultation that there might be a need for a follow up procedure to tweak things but this will likely be a minor surgery.

6 month update guys

Again looking better everyday and I’m able to style my hair back now. Some redness remains and I believe once this fades it will be an impeccable result. Has anyone else experienced redness persist this long?

Also I have noticed some shedding recently and think this may be delayed shock loss. Please do let me know your thoughts on this.

Photos of hair combed wet and styled dry below:

Dr. Cooley did right by you. This already looks good at six months but I think by 12-18 as everything matures it's all going to blend even better. Good choice of doctor.

Thanks @Mycroft I wholeheartedly agree and after walking around with such an unnatural hairline previously it is life changing what he has done.

I notice that the hair colour is a lot darker and that also stands out a bit but I can’t remember whether this will improve and become lighter. Any thoughts as to how the colour will mature?

Everyone's physiology is different so it's hard to say for certain, but I'd guess that any contrast you're seeing will lessen with time. If nothing else those hairs will be seeing more exposure to sun and other light than they would on the back or sides of your head and that should make them lighter over time. I wouldn't necessarily expect them to be as light as your original hairline hairs because 1. They're obviously not miniaturized and 2. The hairs in the donor area tend to be thicker and darker than hairline hairs in general, although hairs towards the temples or nape tend to mimic the hairline hairs a bit more closely. The thicker hairs also work in your favor though, because they provide better coverage so a lower than natural density is still able to have that thick look.

I don't think the contrast is very evident in the photos, so it may very well sort itself out. As a general tip in the meantime hair obviously looks darker with a spritz of product or wet, as you've demonstrated. A very light application blended into all of your hair will probably make color appear more uniform.

Many thanks @Mycrofti totally agree with the points you’ve raised and my hair does tend to lighten in the sun which will help with the contrast and naturalness.

With regards to product I actually like the effect of a wetter look product as it makes the hair appear more uniform and lay flatter to the head which is what I prefer.

im excited to see further improvements on what is already an amazing transformation!

Lmao 😂😂 don’t know about that but definitely these are incredible results from where I was coming from.

it’s funny because I never really had much hair loss, just some slight recession.

The reason I got my first procedure was to lower my hairline as I was born with a VERY large forehead that I was self conscious about.

Unfortunately I tend to make rash decisions and dove in too quickly to hair transplantation thinking it was just a case of taking hair out and replacing it. Little did I know about the many intricacies of this procedure to achieve naturalness and just how many incompetent and unethical surgeons that exist in this world!

Anyway after a long and painful journey I seem to have accomplished my original goal to lower my hairline by about 2cm.

(Just took the scenic route to get to this point 😅)

Exactly my issue also, I inherited my huge forehead from my mother's side, and if you have a reciting hairline with a large forehead it's very discouraging.. I am so done wearing bangs.. I  could get into a head butt contest with a herd of mountain goats with my big forehead and walk away a  champion. 😅

BTW, Can you tell me if you opted for the extra legroom on your flight, I'm curious if it makes much of a difference to be worth the added cost when I fly to India for my procedure.

Bangs was literally my whole childhood so feel for ya bro!😂

I mean my flight was only 2 hours so I didn’t need extra legroom but if you are traveling all the way to India you might want to opt for extra legroom.

is this your first procedure?

do you have any pics or a thread on this forum?

What I would give to wear my hair up and feel comfortable and carefree about it !!!

Yes this is my first procedure.

I have pics that I used for my consult with Eugenix, but I haven't started a thread yet.  I might start one just to help anyone else that is considering traveling to Eugenix from the U.S.

The extra legroom is $130 U.S. dollars each flight and since I have a layover each way it would be X4, so that's an additional $520, so I might not.
