3 Month Update

Hairline is slowly starting to form. Pretty sparse in the middle, but it's still very early so I figure things will thicken up significantly over the next few months. Watching the sides and temples grow in has been very satisfying!

4 Month Update

Growth is in full swing! At this point the hair along the sides is blending more and more seamlessly with the native hair, with the middle of the hairline slowly catching up. In another month or so I'm guessing I'll be able to really style my hair to expose the hairline...for now it's still just a little too thin, especially in bright light. Got my first professional haircut since the surgery and trimmed it down to a #5 in back (I'm pretty sure I can go down to a #4 without it showing but we'll find out in another month or two)

Below are pics in a few different lighting conditions. This really shows the difference between HT pics with a flash vs under direct sunlight.

These last two are with lots of Toppik sprinkled in (bottom shows where I started...you can see how much better the temples are looking already)

Thanks for the comments. Attached are some pre and immediately post op pics taken by the clinic — you can really see the meticulousness of the graft placement here, and how much better things are looking already:

Eagerly following this one! If your results even come close to the current results you have with toppik it's going to be awesome

Do you know how far the hairline was lowered (ballpark figure?)

Thanks, I’d say at the most receded point (the very middle) it was lowered by over an inch...maybe even an inch and a half

6 Months Update

I'm over 6 months in and things are looking good. In most lighting conditions, the hairline looks great and natural but the middle still looks very transparent under direct light. There's still a lot of growth and maturing to go, so I'm hoping that in another few months the front of the hairline will look a bit thicker overall.

I've been cutting my hair down to a 5 guard and the scar is not visible at all. Pretty sure I can go shorter at this point as the scar becomes more and more invisible each month.

Below are some recent pics...the first few are more flattering since the lighting isn't as bright and direct, and the last few are under very harsh and direct bathroom light.

Wow man it looks amazing and just six months has passed since your surgery, I see what your talking about the middle of your hairline I am sure it will get better in the next 2-3 months, are do you see some thin hairs popping out that area or not at all?

By the way, do you know how many square centimeters you covered in your surgery and what was the grafts\cm2?

Thanks!

I didn't get an exact number but I believe it was somewhere around 40 grafts/cm2. You may have been correct in saying the front of the hairline was lowered by 2 inches...it's crazy how bulbous my forehead looked when I used to pull back my hairline.

I have noticed a few new hairs popping in front, so I'm still optimistic about the rest filling in. You can also see how limp and wirey some of the hairs still are, I'm sure their maturation will help a lot.

Huge transition already with the whole new re-framing of your face - and an abundance of sprouts that are still yet to thicken and mature, this will be perfect in 6 months! Really impressive with the amount of grafts used!

Thanks for the comments! I've definitely noticed more thickening over the past few weeks.

I had my surgery w/ Doctor K. I'd say you can shave sides down to 3 - 3.5 after a full year.

Aside, there's a pill form of Rogaine? Meaning I don't have to apply foam?

There is, only downside is it's absorbed by the rest of your body and you need to have it prescribed.

I dont mind getting a script, but when you say it is "abosrbed by the rest of your body" what do you mean?

7 Months

Just got a short haircut and have to say, being able to style my hair back feels pretty damn good. Every time I get a haircut the new hair blends in better and better. Scar has improved noticeably over the past 2 months as well.

Still hoping for a little more density but there’s definitely been an improvement in the past month, with much more maturing to come.

I should note that I’m an example of a patient who has very “fine” hair, so I hope this can be a good reference for those with similar characteristics.
