Senior Member TheMirrorOfDreams Posted March 11, 2014 Author Senior Member Share Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) ...and I am definitely suffering from "Diffuse Patterned Alopecia" (thinning in the front, top and crown, with a stable permanent zone). I'd say I've lost about half of my hair on the top and 2/3 in the crown. It can still be covered up decently, or so I think. I suffer from hairloss and hair thinning, I have horrible skin, and a overly hairy body, and of course as a result: no confidence. Sometimes I feel there is no reason for me to keep on living this worthless thing called "life". Maybe, maybe not. Who knows... It makes me furious and sad. I for one, will not pass on my genes, to be sure. Life is so unkind. Still, no matter the hardship I may face, I WILL prevail. By the way... is it possible the diffuse thinning will stop? Or is it likely to keep thinning? Edited March 11, 2014 by TheMirrorOfDreams

Senior Member gillenator Posted March 17, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted March 17, 2014 Although not clinically substantiated, prolonged use of minoxidil can indeed improve hair caliber and also increase the volume of hair follicles into the growth phase. So some patients end up with more hair count (density) above the scalp line and a visual increase in hair shaft diameter. Both equate into improved visual coverage... Senior Member TheMirrorOfDreams Posted March 23, 2014 Author Senior Member Share Posted March 23, 2014 Haven't seen much new growth as of late. Some of the hairs are quite coarse and wiry, others are short and very fine.

Senior Member TheMirrorOfDreams Posted March 24, 2014 Author Senior Member Share Posted March 24, 2014 dude relax, I'm quite sure that the hairs will start sprouting through soon! Many have already. But it just seems so liittle in the grand scheme of things. Seems like no more than 10-15% in total thus far. 2 and a half more months, and it should be groomable. Maybe I'm a slow grower... that or just impatient.
Senior Member TheMirrorOfDreams Posted March 26, 2014 Author Senior Member Share Posted March 26, 2014 I spend most of my waking hours meticulously inspecting my new hairline. I at least am pleased about how it looks, although it is quite low. New extremely fine hairs (which I only can see through a magnifying lense) are popping up here and there. While most of the hairs still are relatively fine per today, others by the looks of it, seem fully mature in both length and diameter. I just don't get why the hairs grow at different rates? I do comprehend the "anagen, catagen, telogene"- thing, but not why some spurt before others. PS: yesterday I managed to dislodge a single hair, and on its very end a bulb was attached. Is this normal?

It's a little on the conservative side, but should give you some idea of your progress. And obviously, some folks grow faster than others. 3,425 FUT grafts with Dr Raymond Konior - Nov 2013 1,600 FUE grafts with Dr Raymond Konior - Dec 2018

Senior Member TheMirrorOfDreams Posted March 31, 2014 Author Senior Member Share Posted March 31, 2014 I am really starting to freak out about my hair transplant. Unbearably unnerving. Questioning eveyrthing. Yes, I am seeing about 10-20 new fine hairs sprouting, but it seems SO LITTLE, considering I am already 4 days short of 4 months post op. Any comforting words? Am I a slow grower, or is this just how it goes?

Senior Member TheMirrorOfDreams Posted March 31, 2014 Author Senior Member Share Posted March 31, 2014 4 months is the beginning stages of when you should start to see things really coming in. The new hairline is forming, that I can see clearly. But according to the general hair transplant post op growth timeline, it says 4 months equals to approximately 25% in total. I'd say I have reached at the very most 15% thus far. I do know the chart is no more than just a general rule of thumb, and that it does not fit the case of all people. How much density can one expect from 2000 grafts/3500 hairs (35 grafts per square centimeter)?
Senior Member Spanker Posted March 31, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted March 31, 2014 57 grafts per cm, but I would have to guess that you had much more than 35cm2 covered. You should measure that again. I am an online representative for Dr. Raymond Konior who is an elite member of the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians. Senior Member hairthere Posted March 31, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted March 31, 2014 4 months is just the start of new growth. And it won't all pop at once. You really have to chill out and just wait till the 12 month mark before you can decide if it was a success or not. I keep comparing my results with other people, and constantly worry things may not work out in the end. I am generally a pretty patient person, but this is a bit over the top for me. I might have somewhere between 200-500 new hairs now. Is that pretty much on schedule, or does it seem scarce?

Senior Member TheMirrorOfDreams Posted April 1, 2014 Author Senior Member Share Posted April 1, 2014 Can't see to get the camera to focus properly, as there are many smaller hairs it does not pick up. There is much more growth than the picture implies.
