Senior Member ej Posted May 16, 2013 Author Senior Member Share Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) Cheers Levrais, yes it was a good trip may do the euro star next time and save hanging around at the airports. Hi Taco, I have not seen any of doctor Umars patients in the flesh and at my consultation, I met the BHR rep, who himself has had over 1400 extractions from the beard and has no visible marks. As a repair patient this was important to me, along with some other well documented repair cases I also saw online. Location was a factor as well, as it is only an hours flight away. Below are before and after photographs. Grafts this time 950 beard. In total approximately 3800 over four procedures. Many thanks for all the kind comments, thanks Mickey, I hope my thread is helpful to others. ej Edited May 16, 2013 by ej
Senior Member tacolinowest Posted May 16, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted May 16, 2013 When you run your fingers threw your hair, do you feel the difference between beard hair and scalp hair?
Senior Member ej Posted May 16, 2013 Author Senior Member Share Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) Hi Taco At the initial consultation it is important to assess beard donor characteristics, and if beard grafts are suitable as an alternative source of donor. For some beard donor is not suitable for various reasons, I was lucky, not only to have the density I have, but also that my beard hair blends in well with my scalp hair. I am very fortunate. I can not feel the difference between scalp or beard hair. Regards ej Edited May 16, 2013 by ej

I never grew out mine I'm curious how it looks
Regular Member trinder Posted May 16, 2013 Regular Member Share Posted May 16, 2013 Hi ej, I'm finding it really encouraging you posting all this as, as you may remember i'm also a UK potential repair patient. ( had some removal and replacement of large punch grafts)my worst area is my donor area. I've seen stephens (BHR rep ) and its exactly like i'm hoping to achieve eventually. You'rs is looking great and the donor area is completely undetecable. I think we're very lucky to have dr Bissanga on our doorstep. I would definitely get the train over a lot less hassle i think. Do you have any pics i can see before all the beard grafts. Sorry if you've already sent them to me, i'm not too good at filing stuff......wrong generation LOL. Senior Member ej Posted May 19, 2013 Author Senior Member Share Posted May 19, 2013 Hello Trinder I have attached some pictures below of the scarred area. The after pictures show the area at about 16 months post op . I still have some hairs breaking the surface at 2 years post procedure. The work BHR have done for me has made a huge difference in my life, I no longer avoid social events weddings, any outdoor events etc, I can stand at a bar without fear of people staring at the back of my head. It is good to know something can be done. All the best ej

Regular Member glajo Posted May 19, 2013 Regular Member Share Posted May 19, 2013 I have had scalp hair and beard hair transplanted into my strip scar area. I even had a scar revision before that. Personally I prefer the beard hair for filling in the scar tissue area. It may take longer to grow but it is an overall thicker quality of hair and that is what I would want covering up a strip scar area. You should wait at least 2 years to see max results. Your work looks really good. Good luck and I am glad you were able to get hair and most importantly a piece of mind!!
Regular Member trinder Posted May 20, 2013 Regular Member Share Posted May 20, 2013 Thanks for the pics ej, i know exactly what you mean about standing at a bar or in a queue situation. I have to cut my hair down to a no2 grade at the back because my hair is so fine. I would say my donor scars (large punches and linear scars) have a little bit more hair in between and my hair is quite light lucky enough so that does help, but its obvious somethings been done as its so patchy. As i said i'm not too good with pcs, so when i get shown how, i'll post some pics. Would you be able to give me some idea of what it cost you? Maybe you could try Pm me again. I don't know what went wrong the other day with receiving mails, but i'm getting them now. Thanks for the help ej.
Senior Member ej Posted March 20, 2014 Author Senior Member Share Posted March 20, 2014 Below are some photographs taken before any repair, then an attempted repair, then at initial consultation with BHR before any repair with them, then three years after 1000 beard grafts into the left hand side scarring. I thought I would include a couple of pictures showing the effects of side weighting the grafts, from left to right in my case, and the effects this has when styling your hair to your advantage. I had a cut last week and this is the shortest I have been able to go to in 20 years! All the best and take care ej
Senior Member Since21 Posted March 21, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted March 21, 2014 What an amazing read. I'm ecstatic for you that you've come so far and are making the best of a difficult situation, but part of me can't help but be angry at the surgeon who disfigured your scalp. Wishing you the best in your recovery from this experience, both cosmetically and mentally. Must have been exhausting. 3,425 FUT grafts with Dr Raymond Konior - Nov 2013 1,600 FUE grafts with Dr Raymond Konior - Dec 2018

Senior Member ej Posted March 23, 2014 Author Senior Member Share Posted March 23, 2014 Thanks for the support since and mickey. It has certainly been a very draining experience. I do feel a lot better about my scarring, no more strangers walking up to me in a bar asking `what has happened to my head`. Below are a couple of pictures of my beard donor, as you can see I can probably tap into a few thousand more! Thanks for the support it is much appreciated. ej
Senior Member sl Posted March 24, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted March 24, 2014 Thanks ejj for updating. After 3,800 FU out of the beard it still looks good and more to come. Some would be fortunate to get this out the their scalp let alone the beard so has been a good source for you for sure and as said we will tap into it again. I represent Dr. Bisanga.
