Great job. Beard is useless to me, now you will spend less time shaving it. If I had the money and were in your place I would have extracted all of my beard hair and use it on my scar and crown. Sometimes Beard hair is a life saver, I thank God for having docs like Bisanga and Umar who give us hope at times we are screwed up because of the non availability of scalp donor hair.

Its amazing to know that Beard can give 2000 grafts or even more. A person can restore a whole crown with beard hair. Dr. Bisanga has an amazing way of extracting beard hair, its really undetectable. EJ, I wish you great growth to look like a normal person again. Thanks for presenting your photos update, you are the only beard hair case poster in this forum. Strip surgeries sucks sometimes because of stretch backs, however until this moment Im still wondering who was your strip surgeon before. I hope you share with us his name so people avoid him as your strip scar is one of the scariest I have ever seen.

Very nice EJ. It looks like your beard hair closely matches the quality and caliber of your scalp hair. A definite improvement.

These are photographs at nineteen months post procedure with Dr Bisanga at BHR .

Im still getting hairs breaking the surface at this stage , approx ten to twenty over the last couple of weeks .

The tissue is very much improved, i think due to Dr Bisangas low density grafting approach to re establish blood supply into the scar tissue with a view to more grafts being added in the future

Am happy so far with the results and worry a lot less about the unsightly scarring ,

all the best

Hi ej,

Glad to see your scars are now growing hair in them, you have made some tremendous progress so far! I see you have had three procedures so far, with around 1000 beard extracted each procedure. And I see where Dr. Bisanga manually extracts the beard hair with an 0.8 mm punch.

I'm curious, how long would you estimate it took Dr. Bisanga to extract 1000 beard hairs manually? Were you completed (extraction and planting) in one day for each procedure?

Cheers. :)

Hi Wylie

I would say most of the morning for the extractions , started first thing and finished in time for lunch ,I believe beard extractions are a lot more specialised, and a lot is dependent on the individual , ease of extraction , bleeding , movement in the chair ,

i have had three one day procedures so far , fourth booked for May

hope this helps

all the best

Hi ej,

Amazing post. Could you take a minute and tell us how you got those scars? do you think it was because of scalp laxity or other reasons?

If you could do it ALL over again would you have just gone FUE or not even touched your head at all?

Thanks,

M.

ej, I can say beard hair really saved your life and Bisanga managed to make you look normal. I really feel pitty for you as you spend all your money in fixing a scar rather than adding hair into your balding areas. Its really a hard feeling of being a victim. I thank you million times for talking out of using Acell sheets in my scar revision future surgery.

So whats the next step? Another beard FUE into scar? How many grafts will it be? Also how many beard grafts you have done in the previous three surgeries for your scar???

Thanks for your reply ej, I'm glad to see you are taking things nice and slow with Dr. Bisanga, smaller sessions of manual extractions increase survivability of the beard grafts, in my opinion, and you are certainly on the right track, the difference thus far is quite obvious. Happy growing on your next procedure.

massive improvement. i too would like a run down of your history with hair transplants. did acell cause the scar to stretch? how many strip procedures have you had? how is dr bisanga in person to talk to? i have heard he goes with what he thinks is best rather than taking patients ideas and goals(hairline design etc) into consideration but i could have heard totally wrong.

Not my experience at all, absolutely not. He very much listened to what I wanted, but within the confines of what was achievable (which he worked out very precisely). It was a 2-way exchange.

Hi Magnum

I will try to be brief as its a long long story ! Around 1994 i met with a Dr who said he was perfoming state of the art work and did not do punch grafts , long story short i ended up with 120 plugs in my hair line and frontal third .

A couple of years later i had two procedures ( strip ) and had about 800 mini grafts to hide the earlier work this turned out well . A year or so later i had 1k single hair grafts in and around the hairline , this was great as when grown out it hid the plugs . Unfortunatly i then got suckered into a procedure in Greece, strip, the Dr took two strips either side resulting in nothing growing and huge stretching on one side .

After this i waited approx 8 years before looking at repair in 2009 I had a further strip procedure that also didnt really go my way , so after many hours of research and talking with fellow repair patients i knew i had to get a Dr experienced in repair and beard hair .

Over the last 20 months i have had three procedures of beard fue with Dr Bisanga , Im scheduled for my fourth in May .

I think strip done well is ok , I have seen good strip scars and bad strip scars, I have seen fue done well , and some awful scars from fue, i think there are many factors involved in limiting scar stretching ,one of which would be if you have stretched before, its pretty obvious and highly likely that you will stretch again , likewise with fue , if the punch size is too big you will get fue scarring

Im often asked ` would i do it again ` and its easy to say no now, as im older , however when i was 22 years old hairloss was the most important and worrying thing to me , as we age it becomes less so , and as a repair patient its all about looking normal again , if at all possible , for me BHR are making that a reality

Thanks for the comments

all the best
