  1. Hi. I have a daughter age 5, who has long hair that smell bad even 12 hours after washing. My wife, my other kid and me, do not have this problem. When we wash her hair we use a kids' shampoo and a conditioner afterwards to make easier to brush. I remember this bad smell for at least 2 years. I have tried some adult's shampoos (panthene, tricomin and tea tree oil) but the smell is still there. Can I use Nizoral 2-3 times per week? Or do you have any better suggestion? Thanks.
  2. I have seen successful transplants, with the procedure lasting more than 12 hours, so you don't have to worry about that. Why you went in surgery two times for 1000 & 900 grafts and not transplant 1900 grafts in one procedure?
  3. I am curious about this case. The old grafts are placed very low in the forehead, making him a difficult repair patient. Would the removal of old grafts leave some pitting, or it will get better? As I see that there is some pitting from the old job remaining, quite visible when light reflects. Good luck with this case.
  4. An amazing result, congratulations to the doctor. I think it can't get any better than that.
  5. I would say to return home the day after the surgery. I have done it twice and it was a long trip, US to Europe, 2 legs flight. I did this because: - The swelling doesn't appear on the next day. Also a plane seat will help against swelling, as your head will always be higher than your body, so you benefit more than you would lay flat on a bed. - I slept like dead in both flights, because I was still tired from the op and the medication. - The first week you won't be in the best position for holidays. I preferred to lay at home.
  6. Do you want to get professionally good, sharp pictures? The first steps are to buy a good tripod and then lower the iso speed of your camera to take full advantage of the tripod. Also avoid a single source of lighting.
  7. TC17, I know you asked Joe, but I believe the advantage of covering the front first (instead of spreading 5000+ grafts over entire scalp) lies only in patient satisfaction, who will be happier this way. 5,300 grafts create a significant change in the patient appearance if they are used entirely at the front. On the contrary if spread out, he may have a better overall coverage, but he won't be as happy when he looks at the mirror.
  8. Bill, I think you are right again  I got confused because the search function in other forums can work without keywords
  9. Sorry for double post. Also this thread should not belong at the "Hair Transplant Experiences and Surgeon Reviews" subforum.
  10. The search function is not working properly. Future_HT_Doc: > open the search function > below the "Search by Keyword" there is an option for search entire posts or titles only > choose "Titles only" and leave the keyword blank > on the right of "Search by Keyword" there is an option "Search by Username" > type your name at this box > click search > you will note then that the search results are not correct, as all your posts are displayed and not only the threads you initiate, as per your search query
  11. Nice comments by TheEmperor. Personally I am more interested in the original Megatron's question: Do all new hairs grow and thicken? Is it possible to get some more replies?
  12. Most probably, the doctor tried to harvest max number of grafts, therefore he didn't even touch the initial scar, planing to deal with it at the next surgery. It is not such a big deal. I had exactly the same experience, although we discussed it with the doc, and I decided to go for max amount of grafts the first time. And my initial scar was pretty wide. I prefer to fix the recipient area first and then the donor area. Even the 2nd time I asked the doc to leave the wide scar as it was, and try harvest most grafts, but he insisted.
  13. A patient would allow a 2nd scar only to allow doctor to harvest more grafts. Thats the only reason to have a second scar afaik
  14. Yes it would be better to revise part of the scar (lets say on the left). Then your doc can take some grafts from the right side, if you want.
  15. From the few things I know, the first thing to look at a fish oil is if it contains mercury. This fish oil should be avoided. More things that play important role are: look for a fish of the coldest seas that is also bottled at the same place that fished (i.e. Norway) and as the consumer, try to avoid fishy taste. Cheap capsules can give you fish burps for hours and bad taste, which is rather annoying to happen daily. All that said, the one that I liked the most was: "Nordic Naturals DHA from purified fish oil, strawberry flavor". This comes in capsules and has only strawberry taste and I taste nothing else, really. At the moment I take "Carlson Labs the very finest fish oil, lemon flavor" which comes as oil in a bottle and is taken with a teaspoon - no capsule. Although it is very popular (more than nordic naturals) and has a superior taste award (dated 2008), I admit my favorite is Nordic Naturals' fish oil, maybe because I prefer capsules instead of taking oil with a teaspoon. From the short research that I did, these two products are ahead of the competition, but prices are on the high side, however I think it is worth the money, as fish oil is the most important all around vitamin for all the family. I even give cheaper capsules to my dog, to help her coat and hair-loss, especially during summer months, that there is hair in all furniture.
  16. 1) I do not think so. Even for your budget it is better to have one HT with 5000 grafts, instead of one HT with 3500 and a second with 1500. 2) Try to wet your hands to get better grip. Do you know if your doc will shave your head?
  17. Thats a quite impressive photo. Congratulations for your work back then. Even now you are in terrific shape for your age
  18. How old are you? Why you won't be happy with hair that look thinning? After the next HT you will look thinning, but with a nice coverage. I would avoid the hairpiece, as if you are near forty you don't need a full head of hair. Thats just my opinion.
  19. Why the Norwood scale plays a HUGE difference if someone is acceptable wearing hair? Nonsense. Correspondingly a hair transplant is acceptable only for NW2 up to and including NW4?
