  1. "Safely" isn't the same as "Ideally." I tend to think multiple procedures done per day offers no benefit to the patient. It could potentially offset cost, but this forum seems pretty universal in that being a bad way to select surgeons. Ultimately, results are what is most important, and some doctors with amazing results operate on 2 patients per day. Feriduni and Bisanga are two names that come to mind.
  2. Are you suggesting Papa John's pizza isn't delicious in real life?
  3. It's the testable level in your bloodstream, which isn't the same as other tissues in your body; i.e. scalp, prostate, or muscle tissue. For us guys suffering from hairloss we're looking for a reduction in scalp DHT. The potential issue with nuking your serum DHT levels is that you would be opening yourself up to more systemic, body-wide issues while not necessarily reducing your hairloss significantly. RU might be safer than Fin/Dut because the (admittedly limited) research on it has shown that it has very poor systemic absorption. I definitely understand not trusting the idea of smearing a research chemical on your head, though.
  4. Avodart/Dutasteride may block 90% of serum DHT in the bloodstream, but it does not block that much where you really need it to--the scalp. You can look into clinical research of Dutasteride that showed at doses of 2.5mg per day it blocks almost 100% of serum DHT levels, but likely much less in scalp tissue directly. You might want to look into the experimental topical compounds like ru58841 and cb-03-01.
  5. This. On their website the only doctor that approaches having a real bio is the head doctor of the clinic. The other doctors don't even warrant full names. With the rep Turkey has for disreputable behavior, it would be nice if someone could find the credentials of the various doctors. From a before/after standpoint, they have some of the most aesthetic results I've seen. Best wishes to @MachoVato and @Andrei.
  6. Neil G is probably a shill, but this comment is pretty worthless too. The original poster didn't even give a clinic name. There are quite a few good results from Turkey on this forum, as well as some bad results from recommended clinics. For instance, not every result from Eugenix has been stellar, including some questionable donor harvesting. Dr. Bhatti was kicked off the recommended list. Maybe India should be avoided as well, right? It would be nice if specific results and doctors were judged, rather than entire countries. I think we'd all be better off in the long-run.
  7. Sounds like a bunch of unsubstantiated drivel from Cooley. Does he have independent lab tests to support his claim about different brands of Finasteride? 5mg Proscar cut into quarters is "cheaper," not "better," than 1mg Finasteride. I'm willing to bet Dr. Konior would prescribe the 5mg if you asked him. Also, c'mon, man. If you can afford to get an FUE procedure with Konior, just do that. He's probably the best in the world and that's what he recommended for you.
  8. I've heard several reasons why Dr. Ferreira has so few results, and all of them or none of them may be true, but it's still hard to get comfortable with his website only having three before/afters. His instagram isn't much better. I remember you posting about scheduling with Dr. Lupanzula, or am I thinking about someone else? Are you having concerns about his recent work?
  9. There are patient posted results for Couto, just very few compared to what one might expect from the greatest hair transplant surgeon in the world. @RMancini Thank you!
  10. How can Couto realistically be in anyone's top 5 list? He's like a hair restoration Keyser Soze. No one knows anyone personally who's been to him. No one can even confirm details about how he conducts surgery. And in spite of claims to the contrary, he DOES NOT have hundreds of patient posted reviews on Spanish forums, only cases posted by his clinic (the same ones he uses on his Youtube). Does he have a website? What's his hair restoration background?
  11. @teeplant I feel the same way. Dr Ferreira seems very appealing (price, background, 1 patient per day), but the lack of before and afters+patient posted results makes it very difficult to determine if he has the skills and artistic requirements for my individual case. My feeling right now is that it would be a gamble having surgery with him. @Londoner7 Thank you! I'm looking forward to seeing your results.
  12. @Portugal25 In Spain and Turkey is there a tax in addition to the posted cost, like with Belgium? Thanks.
  13. I asked twice just to verify. It was pretty disappointing. It was also a topic of discussion on recuperarelpelo. The concern was dismissed because someone claimed that Villa's techs were 10 year veterans of Dr. Lorenzo's practice.
  14. @Portugal25 Info based on my recent consults. Konior - $12 (FUE) a few months ago. Bisanga - 5 euros per graft, including tax. You can get rid of the tax if you get a doctor to write a note saying that hairloss has negatively impacted your quality of life. Ximena Villa - 2 patients per day. Techs do all the extractions. Doctor does all the implantation. De Freitas - 3.5 Euros per graft. HLC - 2.7 Euros. Drops to 2.5 if you schedule 3 months out.
  15. @Portugal25 "Eugenix has a very good Doctor named Pradeep Sethi and Dr. Arika that is also good but not considered on the same level as her more experienced colleague." What are you basing this on? Both doctors started doing hair transplants at the same time. They're married and founded Eugenix together.
  16. @mustang Would you or any of your friends consider posting your Couto results here?
  17. This just isn't true. There are many cases presented by Couto himself, usually the same ones shown on his YouTube channel, but not firsthand patient testimonials. Last year, I got caught up in the Couto hype and tried to schedule surgery with him (I'm in the US). I asked his office if they had any patients they could get me in touch with to discuss their experience with him, particularly if he had done any work on someone with my hair type. They just told me to check out his YouTube channel. It was really miserable to get his office to answer any questions. When they did, there was always something vague or evasive that made me uncomfortable. There's no way you can know the graft survival rates of Freitas and Couto.
  18. I personally don't like Eugenix offering different packages with varying levels of doctor involvement. I think it would be better for their patients and their brand in the long-run to just offer one price that gave the best surgical outcome possible. That being said, if you can afford their premium package, I think it's pretty obvious who you should go with. Eugenix has many amazing firsthand outcomes, and the ability to handle a wide range of hairloss levels.
  19. Eugenix has 3 different packages with varying levels of doctor involvement. They also have five locations and annoying salesmen posting on forums. *cough* not unlike some of the Turkish hairmills *cough* I haven't seen any Afro hair before and afters posted by Eugenix, so that might be worth considering. Afro hair is a real specific skill, and I'd want plenty of visual proof before choosing a doctor. @Portugal25 I think you have good intentions, but you're also biased as hell. Your number one recommendation is Dr. Ferreira. Remind me, how many results does he have posted anywhere? @Kruchie It sucks you feel discouraged about posting your results. I think this forum is starting to show a clear bias, and it's not based solely on the quality of results. I find it really uninviting.
  20. @CJL I have very similar loss to you, as well as blonde hair, although mine is curly. I was recommended 3000-3500 grafts in many of my consultations, so apparently that's a standard NW3 number that doctors are throwing around for the hairline. I consulted with Dr. Ferreira. He certainly talks the talk, but I can't find much visual evidence that supports him being world class (maybe he will be in the future). If you aren't currently on any hairloss treatments, I would just give Finasteride a shot without anything else. If it works for you, then you may be able to skip the hassle of topicals and all the annoying crap that sometimes ends up in a hairloss stack.
