  1. That's correct "custar". When I had 5,125 grafts transplanted in 2012, I actually ended up with over 11,000 hairs. I had a lot of singles (1 hair per graft) but most of mine were doubles and a some triples. My second transplant of 2,000 grafts yielded well over 3,000 actual hairs.
  2. Thanks Dr. Vories for a great trip to Chicago for the conference. I met so many wonderful surgeons during the Live Viewing experience. It was great to hear the compliments from doctors from the United States and around the world. Several mentioned to me that you were clearly one of the top transplant surgeons in the United States. Thanks for all you've done for me and others.
  3. If you've saved up $6,000, spend another $350 for a plane ticket so you can have the surgery done by the doctor you're most comfortable with. This is a very big decision, so your choice in doctors is very important. I'm an advocate for Dr. Vories because my results were exceptional. It was certainly worth a plane ticket to get it done by him. He charges $4/$5 per graft and does all the extractions and insertions himself. I'm glad you're leaning towards FUE. I was never willing to have the 8 inch linear scar from FUT. Best of luck to you.
  4. It may be highly subjective to estimate the number of grafts to move a "norwood". Also it depends on what you're ultimate goal may be. Using the FUE process the doctor takes grafts from different donor areas to build the hairline, etc. Some grafts produce singles, doubles, etc. Most of my grafts had two hairs. I've had 7,125 grafts and over 14,000 hairs transplanted. A lot of variables go into the number of grafts you may need to meet your objective. You do have an interesting idea but charging for grafts protects the patient as well and you actually get what you paid for.
  5. I have had 7,125 grafts in two procedures which for me was over 14,000 hairs transplanted. I have fortunate donor areas. Check out the picture.
  6. Looking very good Avatar. I had 5,000 grafts done in 2012 and your current pictures seem quite similar to my results. You have a lot to look forward to. Be patient and best of luck. Check this picture out.
  7. Everyone seems to have an opinion regarding yield when discussing FUE vs. FUT. I personally didn't want an 8 inch linear scar on my head so it was easy for me to choose FUE. I had over 5,000 grafts in 2012 and another 2,000 in January of this year. After my hair was cut short for the second surgery, Dr. Vories took pictures of my donor area from 2012. I could see no visible scarring as a result of using a .8mm punch during my surgery three years ago. The transection rate was also extremely low. I would compare my FUE results with most any FUT photos. Both procedures produce excellent results when placed in competent surgical hands.
  8. I think 2500 -3000 grafts would be excellent for you. You look fairly similar to me in 2012 before my surgery. I had over 5,000 grafts but many were in the crown as well.
  9. Hang in there "Lileil", I used to call your ugly duckling phase.... my awkward teen phase! I'm glad to hear that your hair is growing that quickly after just two months! Good for you! Be patient and best of luck!
  10. You are just fine "TysonJames". Like the others have said, pouring water and rinsing your head will do nothing to dislodge any grafts. They most likely have a pretty firm grip by this time. You will start seeing and feeling the scabbing. When you do take a full shower on your head in a few days, just gently massage your head with the shampoo and you will start to feel the little pieces of scabbing coming off. It will feel like "grit" on top of your head. One thing I would like to point out. Remember, the top of your head is numb still and will be for quite some time. Don't rub too hard. I did this and slightly irritated my scalp because I really couldn't feel it because of the numbness. The scabbing coming off and me rubbing it on my head was like sand paper on top of my head. No harm done but it did sting a bit later after the shower. Dr. Feller is correct, if you didn't see any blood from rubbing the graft, you did not damage the grafts. Even if you had....it probably would be just a few grafts out of the thousand that would not affect your appearance. In my sleep I rubbed out about a dozen grafts after my second surgery. Best of luck!
  11. I'm about the same age as your patient and many folks think I look much younger as well. Good work Dr. Beehner and thank you Dr. Vories.... as well.
  12. Good clean work doctor. Glad he had a lot of "3's" with the limited number of grafts. I'm sure your patient is pleased.
  13. Dr. Arocha, I'm always impressed by your creative hairline template, and the results are always fabulous. Congrats and thanks for making another patient (my age) feel so much better and look so much younger.
  14. Very nice results "Dog", I'm sure folks tell you how much younger you look.
  15. Be sure to post some pictures in 3-4 months. I'm sure you will be seeing nice results by then.
  16. Excellent post "Hairweare". You are absolutely correct and FUE continues to be the procedure of choice for many. You are also correct regarding Dr. Vories who continues to refine the FUE process and who performs 100% of the extractions and insertions himself, with minimal tech support.
  17. Well done Dr. Beehner. You made this guy look 10 years younger. Nice work.
  18. Looks good Dr. Parsley. I was 51 in 2012 when I had my FUE procedure and the results are similar. Good work sir.
  19. I would be a bit nervous regarding procedures done exclusively by technicians but the work looks clean and well done.
  20. Very nice Dr. Vogel. Congratulations. Yes....can you provide more FUE details/protocols?
  21. Typical shock-out. Be patient and look forward to a new look. You will be pleased in a few months. Hang in there.
