  1. I'm sure you are pleased. Dr. Lorenzo has a great reputation and I know its difficult to get on his list for a consult and surgery. Congratulations.
  2. "Zbhair", I've had two procedures with Dr. Vories. The first was a mega-session (5,125) grafts over several days in 2012. I then had 2,000 more grafts done in January of this year. My results were fabulous. As a matter of fact, I was on display in Chicago during the Live Model session at the International Hair Restoration Conference a couple months ago. At the conference the surgeons were most impressed with my results and especially how good my donor area recovered. You cannot tell I've lost any of the +7,000 grafts, in fact, several docs told me to have another procedure to thicken the crown area. Every patients donor area is different but Dr. Vories has great judgment on what, where, and how many grafts to extract based on your balding pattern and age. Like you, I too...did not want the lengthy linear scar on the back of my head from FUT. Also, my pictures of the donor area prior to my second procedure showed no visible scarring. Clearly, there are tiny scars from the original extractions but even with a nearly shaved head, they are indistinguishable. Best of luck, you will be very pleased with Dr. Vories professionalism and certainly his artisan type precision. Best of luck, you have a lot to look forward to.
  3. Very interesting procedure. Looks very good after two weeks. Thanks for sharing the pictures. I'm sure the patient is very pleased.
  4. I've had two surgeries with Dr. Vories, 5,125 grafts in 2012 and 2,000 more this past January, and he extracted every graft and his technician then prepared them for implantation. Dr. Vories then implanted 100% of the grafts himself. This is the typical procedure and process at Carolina Hair Surgery.
  5. There is typically going to be a fairly consistent transection rate with each surgery. Using the FUE process you may have 3-4% of the grafts transected. This number varies per patient and is a very small number. The doctor will typically monitor this when extracting the grafts and will harvest a similar number to compensate for any loss. Therefore, if you're paying for a 2,000 graft procedure, the surgeon may extract an extra number above 2,000 to compensate for any transected graft. This number would be small and indistinguishable from your donor area.
  6. Be gentle in the shower massaging your scalp. I did this and the scabs sloughing off were like rubbing sandpaper on my head. My head stung a bit afterwards. Just be careful and let the scabbing come off on its own in the shower without any help from you. Just be careful, and best of luck to you. Your grafts should be safely attached by day 7.
  7. Thanks "Petchski". I've been posting pictures of my progress for 3 years now. I had 5,125 grafts done (FUE) in 2012 and another 2,000 in January of this year just to fill in some thin areas. I sometimes direct new hair transplant patients to my archives section where I blogged and posted pictures everyday for the first 30 days which provides everything they need to know and what to expect post surgery. Thanks for the kind words....yes... lots of people tell me how much younger I look.
  8. Nice work Dr. Lindsey. Looks like the crown has grown in nicely. I'm sure your patient is very happy and I'm sure you compared his new hair growth to a long marathon if not an iron man competition which he can surely relate to. Congrats.
  9. Sounds like the guy just wants to stay a head of the hair loss. I'm sure the doctor will take his age, donor area, etc, into consideration and do what's best for the patient. I wish I had a pay check I could use for hair loss when I was his age. Best of luck to him.
  10. The debate will continue with FUT vs. FUE. Some say the transection (damaged graft) rate is higher with FUE. Even if a typical transection rate of 3 -4 %, the skilled surgeon typically takes enough extra grafts from the donor area to provide what the patient expects and pays for. I had a large FUE case (5,125 grafts) in 2012. If you look at the pictures on my own blog site you can see how successful it was. Based on what I read in this dialogue thread, I think its appropriate to share my blog site so you can see more pictures. If not David (Moderator) will remove it. My blog has no forum opportunities for open dialogue. I've been using it to show before/after pictures during the past three years. The blog site is My FUE Hair Transplant
  11. Just wait until folks start telling you how much younger you look. I get the "you look 10 years younger" all the time.
  12. Glad you're happy with the results. Now the F.U.N. begins...as you stated.
  13. Looks like you will have a nice strong hairline now. Looks like you got good results. My hair loss stabilized when I was in my mid-thirties. Best of luck down the road. I'm sure you will be pleased in a few months when your hair continues to thicken in the front.
  14. Many guys would love all that hair pre-surgery. The bottom line...your happy with the results. Best of luck down the road.
  15. Everything you mentioned sounds quite normal "Chewy". The redness will continue to fade and you will have plenty of itching taking place. Be gentle with that although at this point you won't do any damage to the grafts. Be patient if you don't see growth after 3 months. My first surgery showed growth after 2 months but my second was delayed. It really started filling in about 4 months after the second surgery. Best of luck and remember...be patient.
  16. There's a temptation to grow it out because most of us never had hair for the past 20 years. I would be tempted as well but I try to keep it cut to a reasonable length. My wife is a hairdresser and insists on cutting it. Most folks say I look 10 years younger which is always nice to hear. Great work Dr. Vories, for me.... and the gentleman in the photos you shared.
  17. Great work Dr. Lindsey. The gentleman seems very happy. Congratulations to him and to you for your fine work.
  18. I know the price is right in Europe for FUE, but be very careful and do your homework and find a reputable doctor that does most of the work. I agree with "Sean" and be careful not to get a clinic full of technicians who do all or most of the work.
  19. It really takes 4-6 months for most to see great results. Be patient. Regarding FUE, its was a no-brainer for me. I just didn't want the long linear scar from FUT. I had great FUE results especially in the hairline.
  20. I agree with "Pkipling", you can wear a cap after the procedure but do not let the inside rim of the cap touch your newly placed grafts in the front. With all the anesthetic administered you may not feel the rim of the cap touching the front grafts. And yes....be very careful removing the hat from your head each time. Carefully remove it each time.
  21. Congratulations on your 3,000+ grafts. You're starting to see some significant growth. Be patient and your hair will most likely mature and thicken a bit (visually) during the next six months.
  22. The redness is noticeable in the initial weeks after surgery but most people do not pay attention to it. I've had two surgeries and no one has ever made a comment about it. It begins to fade after a few weeks and it really isn't any big deal. Good luck, you will be happy to put up with a little redness to get your hair back. Best of luck.
  23. It's very difficult to estimate a number of grafts based on a few pictures but typically 2,000 grafts clearly improves thinning hairline. Find a doctor you're comfortable with, look at lots of their before/after photos and get a consultation. Best of luck. I'm glad you're considering FUE. NO visible scarring versus the lengthy scar with FUT.
  24. It's a bit more difficult to make a determination on someone in their 20's without a defined pattern of baldness. Do your homework on this website and contact a doctor for a consultation. I had a preliminary web-based consultation which provided a good base line for a recommendation. Parts of the sides and back look like strong donor areas but its a bit difficult to know for sure from the pictures. Best of luck.
  25. I think you would be more than satisfied with 1,500-2,000 grafts. I would also base this on whether your hair loss has stabilized at 38 years old. I'm 53 but noticed hair loss stabilization the last 10 years prior to my surgery in 2012.
