  1. I’ve heard that and I’ve heard so many competing things too. But also I think when someone says 80% growth they are including maturation as part of the total growth. In those cases they feel that by 6-8 months all hairs have popped through, and the remaining growth is maturation. Others are literally saying 80% of the hairs have popped through and the other 20% have not yet. I think the former is more common though, that by now all of my hairs have popped through and the only additional growth is maturation. I have my 8 month follow up next week where I’m going to express my concerns about my crown.
  2. Yeah I’ve seen those too. But I think on their cases they had the right density, they just had to wait for hair maturation. I have relatively big gaps between each implanted graft, and I know no new hairs are going to sprout there. So hair maturation will help some but not be a fix all.
  3. I’m not expecting native density or anything close to it. But I’ve seen some amazing crown work on here that was way denser than mine. My scalp won’t visible now due to the styling. Later I may take a pic with my hair pushed aside so you can see the scalp to know what I mean.
  4. It’s a few days shy of 8 months, but I’m having a good hair day so posting a few days early. I’m not seeing any real noticeable improvement, I think my results are basically done. My crown looks better but I think only because my hair is getting longer and covering more scalp. I haven’t cut the top of my hair since October when I buzzed it. If I brush the hair away there’s a lot of scalp still. When my hair is styled and hair sprayed I see virtually no scalp unless it’s very harsh lights. But if I try to wear my hair more naturally it moves around and shows scalp. So it’s basically a combover, lol. I just don’t think the doctor gave me the density they said they would. The spacing between hairs is too big. Even if the hairs thicken up over the next 4-10 months, I don’t think it will be enough. I’m going to give it until 10 or 12 months, then probably get some SMP on my crown to make it look fuller. I considered a second surgery but my results are good enough that I don’t want to go through the whole process again (shave head, sleep on back for a week, shock loss, ugly duckling for months, wearing a hat for months to hide my hair, etc.) for the little bit of extra hair I want. But all that being said, I am very pleased with the results. My hair at this length before would have never hid my crown, and my hairline had receded asymmetrically making this hairstyle impossible. So I would say I’m 90% pleased with the results, and hopefully SMP gives me the extra 10%. My dream is to wear my hair naturally and without hair spray and not worry about scalp showing. I don’t want to do concealer or fibers either. And yes, I have hair greed 😊
  5. I think about 95% of us (me included) who have had crown work aren’t 100% satisfied and expected more. The crown is a black hole and it takes a lot of graphs to fill it in. I’ve really only seen a handful of crowns on this forum that look truly dense. Everyone else’s still looks some degree of thinning. I had what appeared to be a lot put in my crown, but it’s nowhere near as dense as I expected. I’m 8 months post surgery so I’m going to see where I am at in a few months, but I will likely need a second HT. I know the hairs I have will thicken up Some, but I’m in the same situation as you where the improvements won’t be enough to fully cover the bald spot.
  6. I’m curious why she didn’t bring your new hairline down to where your existing hairline currently ends? Your pre-surgery hairline is asymmetric. On the left (left on pictures, may be right side on you) your existing hairline comes down below the new hairline she created. This is going to result in a clump of existing hairs residing below your new hairline. is the intention to shave those hairs? Laser removal? Assume they may fall out on their own one day? I recall seeing something similar on another post, but the extra hair was right in the middle, not off to one side.
  7. Thank you. You is best moderator like mr brad Pitt of moderators very pleased.
  8. Ok this was funny at first but I think it’s gone too far. @Melvin-Moderator

  10. I lost about 3000 brain cells reading this. It’s pretty hilarious though.
  11. I wonder how common this is. The thought of all my transplanted hair falling out every 4 years is terrifying. Yeah it grows back but who wants to go through the ugly duckling phase every few years.
  12. I don’t think I have ever seen crown work this dense. Wow!
  13. Just FYI you said 180 days but also 3 months. 180 days would be 6 months. So I believe you mean 90 days. 😊
  14. It all comes down to personal preference. Me personally, having a bald spot on my crown bothered me way worse than a receding hairline. Others feel the opposite. I personally don’t like the look of a full head of hair in the front with a bald spot in the back. See Joe Biden as an example. But a full crown and a receding and thinning hairline looks better to me. But again that is all personal preference.
  15. It is very, very uncommon to see a 70 year old man with the hair line and density of an 18 year old. It’s so uncommon it often looks bizarre.
  16. It depends on the person, and you’ll also get doctors who give differing opinions.
  17. Holy crap man your results at 7 months are better than many people at 12-18 months! Even at 5 months you had a crazy amount of growth. Looks awesome!
  18. Everyone’s hair is different. I’m Jewish by birth so I have very wiry frizzy wavy hair. I hate it. Without any product it looks ridiculous and it can’t be styled well at any length. Some people have hair with great texture and consistency, others like myself don’t. I wish I had hair that didn’t require product Additionally, as this thread pointed out, if the right products are used it can make your hair look thicker, which is of great use to those of us here since this is a hair loss site.
  19. I think I have a new favorite product. I think it does an equally good job as the others for the illusion of density, but it allows me to wear my hair with more or the messy look. Not the best pictures but you get the idea. you have to be careful with this stuff. Too much and your hair becomes dried stuck together sections of hair, similar to if you used a bunch of hair gel and it dried. But with this stuff it dries immediately. I suggest setting with a dime sized amount, run it all through your hair evenly, then use your fingers to move your hair around to break up some of the stiff hairs.
  20. Makes total sense, never thought about it that way.
